Arne here from Michigan. We have a hobby farm. No more animals now that the kids are gone. Lots of veggys and fruit trees pecans English walnuts blue a d black berries 73 yrs with plenty of work to do. Michigan has tough winters 21 below in 2018 with without blizzards. We restored a 1857 farm house over our lifetime. It turned out nice. We went out of budget 2 yrs ago and put in a geoheat pump best thing ever. No more dependence on firewood or oil. That's what you do when you get old. I'm also disabled and those wood splitting days are over. You will not regret your life stile. Its soooooo satisfying. We can can all are baggy needs. And make jams. We hope to die on homestead and skip nursing home. In Michigan we have to protect our livestock from black bears, wolves.cougers, coyotes and an occasional bigfoot. Looking forward to your videos. Arne a d carol married 49 years. Farming is good for your marriage. You depend on each other. Most of our city friends have passed away.

Sadly if all of humanity did this there wouldn’t be any natural green space left. Just 3-5 billion shacks surrounded by sewage puddles and rats . It is us city dwellers , many who sacrifice our dreams , that make it possible for the few young to do this . Also the handout culture (entitled takers)would follow you (producers ,makers) out to your “farms” so they could harvest what you grow . 🤔

Your homestead is really impressive and looks like a great property. Good for you to live "off grid" - on your own! A lot of people are commenting that it looks like "heaven" - and it does - but I think also, a lot of people have NO CLUE how much WORK it is to run a homestead. That "heaven" would quickly turn into "hell" (for the wrong people) - because they don't understand it is sun up to sun down continual work to take care of the property and all the animals - not to mention living without running water or power (? right?)! Very interested to see how your homestead develops! All the best to you from Minnesota! 💞
