    Love the review. I bought one a couple months ago after blowing the zippers out on a couple inferior backpacks. I use mine to carry rain gear, headlamps, phone charger and cables and various other gear for work. I work line maintenance on cargo aircraft so I'm constantly unzipping pockets and digging into the backpack. It has held up well even though I have it stuffed full.
    Love the scenery and sunset!

    i’ve had the same 2 LAPG bag for about 8 years, got them for free during a promotion, one i use for hiking and the other for travel, and they’re still in great shape.

    Looks very much like a 511 rush 24 especially on the interior. Maybe 511 made it for them. I've had my 511 rush 24 and 72 for 10 years with no issues.

    That pack resembles my EDC 5.11 Rush 24 pack, but much more affordable. And if its "Grunt Proof", then it is definitely good to go!

    Nice pack. I use a Rush 72, I don't always fill it up but with the exterior side pockets built in I can carry a Grayl and water bottle without having to add pouches and I can use the belt when the going gets tough.

    I have an older gen version of this bag. It’s held up pretty well for the 4+ years I’ve had it. It has the zipper pulls with plastic ends and one of them has come apart. I’m going to replace them so no further problems will happen. Great bag if you catch it on sale.

    Great looking sunset. Nice bag. I'll stick to my medium Alice pack. I run the Tactical Taylor enhanced shoulder straps and kidney pad on it.
    I think it would probably take a act of GOD for me to give it up. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

    Looks like a solid bag. LAPG sells some nice gear. I have three pairs of their Atlas pants, which have taken three years of abuse in the woods and haven't failed. Solid value without the price tag and labeling of pants with Scandinavian names I can't pronounce. That said, their customer service is literally non-existent. No response to emails. Can't get a live human on the phone, and recorded menu options consist of how to buy and how to return items. I've even tried to contact them via Twitter...no go...but they don't seem to have a problem posting there to get you to buy stuff. I'm looking for a smaller bag like this, but until LAPG gets their act together, they're not getting any more of my hard-earned $$$,
    And yeah, Bud Light sucks.

    Good looking set up for sure. Worth serious consideration. I still love my FILBE Assault Pack. This pack does seem to take it to the next level though. Cheers. How about a cold Mexican beer like Modelo or Carta Blanca? In a bottle. In the mountain desert.

    Umm ... It's not really laser cut MOLLE (MOdular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment), it's laser cut PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System). MOLLE is a specific set of packs from a couple of decades ago (since removed from issue and replaced) whereas PALS is the webbing that allows you to customize the packs by adding other carrying options.

    • @chrisloehr6641
      @chrisloehr6641 Před rokem

      Where are you finding them for 60 bucks? I've found the pack alone for about that price, but with the frame, belt, and straps it's almost $200. I'd love to have one but it's hard to justify at that price.

  • @lucasyup
    @lucasyup Před 2 lety +1

    I respect your opinion but I had a different result. I bought the 3 day 2.0 from LA. I'm like you I do not count ounces so a light average load out for me is around 30lbs. 3 miles in my shoulders were screaming. At 6 miles I was leaning forward just to ease the pain. At 8 miles I took it off and shoulder slung it. No padding in the shoulder straps, 1/4" back pad with no frame makes it a big no go. Any of my Alice, ILBE, Molle2, or Mystery Ranch at 30 lbs you barely feel it. It is a beautiful ruck. It is well made, but it has the ergonomics of a 30" push lawnmower strapped to your back. Great content though....cold steel

    Thanks for this video. Your experience with the 12 Hour pack seems on par with mine and the 72 Hour.
    I purchased a couple LAPG Atlas 72 Hour packs last year. I do have a few complaints thus far...
    1) The advertised capacity of 74 L is... optimistic.
    2) The advertised unloaded weight of 5.7 lbs. seems low. With the included internal backplate in place, my scale showed more like 7 lbs.
    3) The large molle panel on the bottom of the pack (which I had hoped to attach a trauma kit to) can only handle very light items/pouches before the "flap" pulls open and down no matter what I do with the strapping system.
    Now, everything else is pretty good. For starters, it has held up well on our outings. As you noted, the zippers are just straight up good to go. The actual strength of the laser-cut molle has also held up. For what it is, and the price you pay, I won't complain overall.
