    Buddy of mine got a '78 Bronco years back for parts (It was so rotten the spare tire almost fell out of the floor where the rear seat should've been), the parts truck had a good front clip and doors, and a seized 300 inline 6. The engine was seized from the Dorman oilpan paint, previous owner hadn't run the truck 1000 miles with that pan and it had ate the paint off and plugged the engine. But that rusty '78 Bronco saved my buddy's 78 bronco (Which needed fenders and doors badly), and his early 70's F250 farm truck that needed an engine. We only used the head, distributor, and a few other bits from the seized engine, those pistons where stuck something fierce, guy my buddy got the truck from had it at redline in a mudhole when it seized.

    I watch a number of build videos, gets my mechanical, juices flowing. You have a leg up with your nod toward torquing and torque settings. They do add tedious time to buttoning up an engine, BUT the torque requirements are critical. I was an aircraft mechanic (12,000 lbs. and over) for 20 years, six cylinder opposed and really big radial engines such as the 4000 hp Pratt and Whitney R-4360 ci. 28 cylinder. I worked with the torque chart in hand as there were hundreds of torque settings. Don't even get me started with having to safety wire almost all of the fasteners. It took four men over seven days to button up the engine and test run it at various settings for hours at a time. Plus the other settings necessary to tune the ignition, carburetor, alcohol injection pump, turbo charger and supercharger. When they were finally set up correctly they were bellowing monsters of the sky.

    Those core plugs exist because during the casting of the block, it is necessary to remove the sand that was used to form the block. And that's how you get the sand out. They have nothing to do with freezing or frost.

      @scanspeak00 Před 3 lety

    Awesome work. Core plugs are also used like anodes to avoid the electrolysis effect to the engine block happening from the coolant circulating in the cooling system

    Neat. My 24 valve is running great with RV275 injectors and a Blue Chip diesel Special X VP44 injection pump. Did I see a FRAM filter on the rebuild? I never use Frams as there was talk of the paper filter material coming loose and pieces clogging up the piston cooling jets of the engine?

    Awesome video mate excellent see seeing these engines being built professionally by an actual expert on these engines. Iv found a company in Australia who imports used cummins 12 & 24 valve engines or around 10 thousand bucks ,and if I was to buy one to rebuild before attempting a conversion I'd use your highly intuitive videos as a benchmark to work from . Thanks mate your a legend 🤘😆🤘

    Running cars hotter does increase fuel efficiency. Took the thermostat out of my xj and it did bring it down heaps. Energy goes into heating up the bore instead of pushing the piston down

    Across the pond. Just found your channel a subd.It's a throw away world and it's good to see someone beating the system. I'm retired now but I loved working on the big Rolls Royce engines. Never knew one that blew but the army liked to know how they were doing. The Challenger Tank CV12 gave me an organism (?) every time it fired up. I remember the Cummins Knocker, weird beast but the torque was awsome. Do miss them all - Happy New Year - keep safe.

    I always thought Cummins were brown/black in color lol. I've got a 95 International 7.3 Navistar powered stepvan turned hauling truck that gets me where I need to be. I thought about swapping for a 6B but it ran fine and I'm not about spending that much money for no reason. Instead I bought a '10 Mazda5 van and dropped a speed3 powertrain with turbo setup in with new coilovers and anti-sway bars front and rear lol. Now I have a truck that hauls what I need fine and a peppy van I use to courier smaller items and daily instead of just a truck.

    Hmmmm...... interesting, the injection pump/ injector tube/injector connection face, interface relying on flat clean surfaces that are properly aligned and properly torqued seems to be the new way. See MAK M25 (3000Kw). Properly done they don't leak (much), and ease the engine design process. The wonders of modern manufacturing.
