  • In this video, I complete the initial corner balance and alignment on my Spec Corvette project. I start by leveling my shop floor, then set ride height, corner balance, caster, camber, and toe.

Hey Josh, I was curious if you happened to measure the wheel center to fender ride height?
I usually measure bottom of wheel to fender then subtract half the wheel total height to get my ride height. The frame to floor height is usually a bit trickier like you said.

I haven’t used the fenders for it, figuring there could be more variance there… but those jack points get fairly deformed with time so either should work just fine. You’re just looking to get it in the ballpark before fine tuning with corner balance anyway.

Great vid. Curious, why not adjust the toe on turnplates?

excellent video, answered my questions about corner balancing and rake. those scale pads are great, the biggest issue i have is trusting the car is on level.. which i know its not. will you see any change in camber after driving the car? you working out with those 60# dumbbells?

Camber should not change after driving if it was properly settled during alignment. That said, springs can sag a little when new (that would affect camber and toe), so it's a good idea to let the car sit on the springs for a day or two before setting ride height, if you have the time.
I haven't used those dumbbells since I broke my wrist this summer... need to get back to it before I wither away.

About fuel load. I know the C5 pulls fuel from the right tank first until empty, then starts pulling from the left tank. Do you think this would make a significant difference during the balance weighing whether half or full? 9 gal of gas is around 60 lbs.

Yes, 60 lbs makes a difference and the right rear wheel is light at 1/2 tank (from a cross weight perspective). Some folks like to bring the car in close to empty at the end of a race and calculate the amount of gas they need to have in each race. That stresses me out, so I prefer to start full. In either case, weight distribution is changing as you consume fuel, so you’re either starting closer to 50/50 or finishing that way, assuming you’re running 30-40 minute sprint races.

Hey Josh, is there a schedule for spec corvette for 2023? I hope the series is still running as I’m slowly building my 03 Z06 to spec corvette rules

Do you know of anyone that has a catted H pipe for sale or borrow that will fit a 04 ZO6?

For sale? No, I don’t. You might be able to buy one from Vette Villains.
