Thank you for this amazing tips and making this video. It's very helpful. 👌🏻
You know, I'm just coming off a weekend of studying for fundamentals and this is very accurate. It took so long to get through 3 chapters. I think it's best to read the chapters before class but when it comes time to studying stick to the outline they give since it's more along the lines of what you'll specifically be tested on.
yep yep!
You are sooo sweet. I can tell you're going to be an excellent RN. Thank you for sharing your tips and your experiences with us! I'm going to try looking at the online outlines and doing practice questions 💜
Thanks uu!! Good luck to you!

No problem!! Good luck!
Awesome thank you !
We’re using the same book in my nursing program as well!!!
Awesome! I hope it helps!
I have the same textbook
Would you recommend taking notes from key points in addition to objectives or would that be too much or repetitive information
thank you you are a godsend.....
@kiefer Cropper Did this way of study help you pass fundamentals?
This video helped me so much because reading wasn't helping me and I received an 73.8 on my first fundmentals exam! I was so upset but I'm going to use what you said pray I will do bwtter!

OMG!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I took my first quiz last week and did not do good At All! I panicked! Then I thought, how am I supposed to take all this info in? I felt overwhelmed and like a failure. This video really helped me to understand what to focus on!
I’m so glad! How has it gone??
OMG, thank you very much!
You're welcome!
This potter and Perry book is a lot and I kept searching how to study this textbook and everyone kept saying reading the first and last sentence of each paragraph and look for italicized words which this book doesn’t have a lot ofalso on top of that there are a lot of charts as well
Mam how to download PDF of this book
Hi dear thank you for your video, so beside the key points, case study’s and questions and answers, did you read the entire chapter too?
Thank you
not really! only when i didn't understand it, but don't get me wrong it is very important tho! its all up to your learning style!
Thank you!!!
you are so welcome!
New subscriber 👏🏾😁
Hello where can is see the answers and rationale? Does it have its own textbook?
Good 👍
THANK YOU!
So welcome!
Thank you for this video!!!! Where do you go to print those pages on Evolve? We have the same book except we don't have the smaller one.
Golden Ma no problem at all!
YaGirlKesi Thanks! I updated the comment to ask about how to print those pages on Evolve.
Golden Ma I usually just copy and paste it from there. Cuz I like to combine it all. But if U got to the site, add it to your courses first. It's called 'Evolve Resources for Fundamentals of Nursing, 9th Edition' . In there go to 'Student Resources' and all the chapters should pop up.
Do you have to pay to get access to those resources or have to buy the book ?
Can you do a video on how you study for pathophysiology?? I don't know where to start😭😭
I will defiantly do that
just realized i never got around to doing the video. how did it go??
First semester in Nursing fundamentals and I register with evolve sherpath and when I say that I just went in there thinking it was just passages and saw it was the contrary I curled into a fetal position and wept for a while thinking how what when will I read this is one week ? Searched CZcams for tips and came across your video and I am going to try it and I’m confident that it’ll work
But I feel unorganized and just all over the place 😩🧠😮hate the feeling hopefully this tip helps thanks a lot
No problem! It will def feel that way cuz Nursing school is a mess, it’s not u! We all go thru it. Keep pushin, hope it helps
Awesome thanks so much!!! Show me your notes ! !
I don’t have them anymore. But I may do some updates studying videos.
Hey, I’m just in the first semester and taken two exams on fundamentals nursing and just feel like dropping.a lot of chapters to cover for a single exam
Like everyone said study the charts but how do you study the charts when there’s a lot of info. Like one of the chapters, chapter 31 talks about immunizations for different cancers and diseases and there’s a whole list. And I’m like how do you study off of that?
Thankyou!!! for replying i really appreciate it, because I have been stressing like no other. So when you say you read the key points, do you mean you go through the book to find material related to the key points or do you literally mean you only read the key points?
awkwardlife94 literally read them! Lol And also go to find the mm in the chapter to get a better understanding of them. But usually they are straight forward. But no problem at all, is what I'm here for! 😁
What do you mean by go find the mm in the chapter?
Hello, my semester just started the other day and I was assigned to read 10 chapters already and my very exam would be in 3 weeks. Ive read 2 chapters already but I feel like its so time consuming that maybe Im not being productive anymore. What would you recommend (studying techniques), Do you actually read the entire chapter?
*btw, im using the same textbook as you
Thank you
i don't read the entire chapter. Focus on the objectives. Check to see if u can answer the objectives at the beginning of the chapter, if u can't. read the key points, if you still can't, read the section in the book that answers the objectives. When you understand the objectives, you understand the chapter! :) hope this helps! Also do what i said in the video.
Also watch this video to see what i mean about the objectives and such. czcams.com/video/8Jdh-B9OwIk/video.html ; i hope this helps
I have a question. So I have found that fundamentals has a lot of extra stuff that you don’t really need to study in depth....like anatomy things and processes. I’ve also noticed that even if you memorize that type of stuff if you can’t apply it to a scenario then or recognize abnormalities....you’re done. So I’m glad you mentioned to read the key points, and to know what you need to look for...and focus on the steps that need to be taken afterwards. Is this correct? Because you’re right you can’t read it all and most instructors are going to tell you in lecture what they expect you to know or give you the learning expectations/outcomes
As it turns out I’m using these exact books😂😂😂
Yaas there u go!
Does the study guide for fundamentals book help with preparing for the exams
not really for me, but it was good practice for terminology.
YaGirlKesi so far I have an 83% as my exam average. Some of the exam questions on mufounsatikns exam I got right because I heard about nurses talked about some of the issues before and there were math questions on my foundation exams as well

Sorry for being so late. 🤦🏽♀️ but you are very correct! How did U finish off in the class!?
I noticed there is a workbook ? Would you suggest that as a good resource?
Ahhh i mean if u want that extra practice but I never really used it honestly .
You should be a nursing teacher. You seem very nice. 😊
I have a question hopefully you still read the comments for this video. I’m on the website but when I click the like for Review questions nothing appears. Do you have any troubleshooting suggestions?
Ok I figured out my own problem. If anyone else comes across this problem make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled for this website.
yes i still read the comments! lol & oh great! i'm glad u figured it out. Good luck!!
Did you buy the evolve resources ?
technically yes, because they came with the book.
Where do u get the case studies with rationales?
they are usually in you elvolve.elsevier account. if u click on the resources they offer you for the book, then u should find them
Hi Kesi!! Thank you for posting this video!! it's sure going to help me eventually when I get accepted into the nursing program in the future. For now I'm taking general ed and pre-requisite classes. I was wondering if you can share some tips on how to study for Anatomy and Physiology. I'll be taking it next Fall, but I like to know and plan ahead of time what to prepare for. I found a used A&P book for a REALLY good price, it's the edition previous to the one my school is currently using, but I got it because it was a great deal. Any tips on how I can start learning some concepts? Hope you can make a video about this. God bless you! :)
Hi there, Norma Carbajal ! Oh yes I would be glad to make a video about anatomy! That's my favorite subject! I'll get to it in a week or 2. Good luck with your pre-reqs, don't give up! God bless you as well! 😁
That's awesome!!! Thank you!! I look forward to it!! :)
Norma Carbajal coolio! I'll be sure to tag you when it's up! Thanks for watching 😁😁
Memorization basically
I’m praying this help I’m so lost
What about fundamentals of nursing by Ruth Craven 8th edition
i am not too sure about that book, but check out this video for more study tips czcams.com/video/8Jdh-B9OwIk/video.html
What is battery exam?
Huh? Did I say that ? Lol
Did your funds book come with the study guide? I don't start until January and was going yo buy the study guide from amazon.
if you have that book specifically It did ! I would make sure tho, because my school had a bundle made and they actually may have been separate, but to make it easier on us they wrapped them up together.
+YaGirlKesi thanks for responding.
So did you read the chapters at all?? Or you just did this study routine for each chapter?
I would read, and as you go create a word document with the bolden terms from the book, powerpoint, and topics you need to refresh on and their definitions and create your own study guide! And only use that to study for your test. Then go onto evolve and take the practice quiz after every chapter. So far that has worked for me and I hope it works for you! Honestly I cringe when people say don't do all of the reading, because I feel like you're setting yourself up for failure if you don't!! (: If I don't take notes while I read I end up not comprehending anything at all!
I actually read all the time. I just didn’t read every little detail of the things that were common since like hand hygiene and things I knew. I read throughly on the rationales they gave in the book and buffering interventions I needed a better explanation for. Def not sayin don’t read at all, but don’t waste your time reading things that u already know.
I did some of the back of the book questions and literally some of the answers are from the table
That they have , the book is so overwhelming but now I’ll take your advice! Thank you!
Also they don’t have a lot of practice questions
they definitely are overwhelming
i found that whatever you are studying you can always go in and google practice questions as well .
YaGirlKesi do you have a suggestion on what site would have good practice questions
hi kesi
I bought my book for fundamentals i didn't get the ebook online and i tried getting the resources but it doesn't show me anything do i have to buy the ebook first?
in the front of your book should be a code somewhere ! if you go to evolve and enter that code the resources should be visible. the only reason it wouldn't work would be because it is a used book and the access code has already been used. try that and let me know
i sent IT an email they put it for me but thank you soooo much for replying!!!
I wish I had seen this video a month or 2 ago😭😭 now I only got 8 weeks left of fundamentals
u got time!!!
Making notecards IS doing something.Nursing students I know swear by it as being super helpful so...yeah.
oh yea,i know it is. i just didn't for Fundamentals specifically.
Notecards don’t work in my program....unless you’re trying to write out a whole scenario and then your own answers
How do I find the key note I can’t find it or is it in the book
In the books at the end of the chapter
Also your nursing school shouldn’t make you take you OB clinicalcourse along with 5 classes. No wonder you didn’t do well, because you had to focus on the other five classes.
lol if someone would tell our dean that we would be more successful!
YaGirlKesi yea I felt personally that’s not a fault on your part but how the school structures the classes.
I keep failing my test!!! 😤🤦🏾♀️
ohh nooo using this technique?? have you asked your teacher for any other resources or help period?
how are you doing now?
Skinny ladies are smart🤔😀
