How To Build A Steel Bumper For Your 1/10 Scale Crawler: "Angry" Dave's ADULT RC

- In this episode we're gonna save some cash! Decent bumpers are friggin' expensive. So for only $12 worth of steel from Home Depot we're gonna fab up TWO awesome bumpers for two of my favorite trucks; my TRX4 Bronco, and my SCX10-II '69 Blazer. Simple metal fabrication like this is a ton of fun and isn't very hard to do at all. You don't need expensive fab equipment to make cool shit. A hand held torch, a hack saw, and some files can go a long way. So break out the tools and lets RC!

Dude those came out amazing! You could sell those. Thanks for the straw shout out lol! Great work Dave seriously!
Thanks bro! The straws worked great. That's my new procedure for mock-up. -"Angry" Dave
Awesome informative video. I need to make a front bumper for one of my rigs and this helped a lot

that's truly amazing. wow! wish i had the skills and tools. looks really nice and indestructible!
Thanks so much. Grab a cheap welder from Harbor Freight and some steel from Home Depot and stick stuff together until it looks good. It just takes practice. -"Angry Dave"

Thanks man! Glad to have you aboard! -"Angry" Dave
Nice work, I made a brush guard for my blazer out of key stock. Not the prettiest but does a great job protecting the front end. There's something about hearing the metal on rock kind of makes me grin for some reason lol. Wish I could attach a picture for ya. Again, great fab work
Thanks! I would love to see it. Join the group on our FB page and post away. -"Angry" Dave

Excellent work!! I would buy both of those and I don't own either of the bodies... LOL
Now that's a compliment. Thanks! -"Angry" Dave
love that blazer bumper if you ever get sick of it hit me up
Lol, I've heard that a few times. I'm probably gonna do a limited run of those this winter. I'll keep you in mind bro. Thanks! -"Angry" Dave
Where the **** is my....if only I had a nickel, I'd be rich. Thanks for all the info. Great video. Subscribed.
Thanks so much! Sorry for the delayed response, for some reason your comment was held for review. Have fun and stay safe. -"Angry" Dave
NICE!
Thanks! They got tested today. Worked great. -"Angry" Dave
waaay too cool!!
Thanks! They're holding up great too. -"Angry" Dave
Epic!
Thanks much brother! -"Angry" Dave
Cool video, thanks! Was going to make a set of tubular bumpers so it was nice I bumped into this video.
Was wondering what did you use for round tube? Brake line? Thanks!
3/16 steel rod from Home Depot. Thanks! -"Angry" Dave
@@AngryDavesADULTRC Cool thanks! I was just there looking around and I only saw solid steel rod. Seemed kinda thick. I might opt for hollow 3/16 brake line from like Autozone but thanks for mentioning what size! 👍
I like those Fucking bumpers more than the plain ones lol
Thanks, me too. I like the price better too. -"Angry" Dave
Wery good man💪💪
Thanks! -"Angry" Dave
Dave that was fucking awesome I love the ideas thank you very much very informative and have a great video.
Thanks so much man! I hope you're inspired to make some of your own parts. -"Angry" Dave
🤣 you are fucking awesome dude
Thanks! -"Angry" Dave
Where the bump is curved around the lights you should have put a bar to hold all three together make sure you even stronger
I thought about that, but I liked it open better. So far, it hasn't been an issue. Thanks! -"Angry" Dave
Great job man. I wanna try now. Ive got the cheapest harbor freight wire feed welder, do you think it could weld stuff that small?
Probably. Practice on some scraps that are the same size stock to get the settings dialed in. Don't worry if you get snotty welds, they can be ground down. As long as you get penetration you're good. Always do a tack and check the part's position before you weld the shit out of it, it's easier to un-do a tack weld. Remember, you really can't screw it up. If you weld something in the wrong spot, cut it off and try again. If you cut a piece too short, weld it back together and do it again. Metal is very forgiving. You really can't "fail", you just might have to do it a few times to get it just right. I recommend running back to Harbor Freight and pick up a bunch of various magnets and clamps (they're in the same isle as most of the other welding stuff). Holding things while you weld is the hardest part. -"Angry" Dave
Yes cause that's what I have. It can do some good work. But like dave said just take your time and get some practice in. Especially timing and heat on small stuff.
@@AngryDavesADULTRC well said man! So many people think welding is just to hard for them. It's all about getting in there and doing it. I believe God created magnetism just for welders without them it's a lot harder.
@@jmac3693 That's right. Fuck up a few scraps and you'll be ready for your good parts. -"Angry" Dave
Angry Dave's ADULT R/C I just pickup the Harbor Freight Titanum 125 welder going to make bumpers n rock sliders
My first rig was a 92 bronco I miss that truck. Lots of room in the front for the ladies! Lol
I had several 80s cars with bench seats. Plenty of room for lovin'. -"Angry" Dave
@@AngryDavesADULTRC hell yeah man! The good ole days. I dont think the old lady and I can even fit anymore and if we can we certainly aren't flexible enough hahaha. Jk
@@jmac3693 LOL. My back hurts just thinkin' about it. -"Angry" Dave
how thick is the stainless sheet you are using bro?
It's not Stainless, but it's 16 gauge I believe. Thanks for watchin'! -"Angry" Dave
Stay Angry, Dave!! 😁
That was cool. Even a fucking poor Disabled Veteran like myself can afford to make those!!! 👍👍
Awesome Bullbar!
Mick (RC Intro) sent me. I'm surprised that I hadn't seen you sooner! I like your info, AND your attitude. Kinda like mine! Just subbed.

..... All I really need is a Welder suitable for an APARTMENT! 😳
Thanks, glad you found the channel. Hell yeah, I love cheap parts! -"Angry" Dave
You could probably run a small torch and stick to soldering and brazing if you're super careful. Have a metal -lined work area and some welding blankets for sparks. -"Angry" Dave
Aluminum Rod may be strong enough.... I won't need as much heat to braze that.
I'm not a great Welder. I cringed when I saw you spot Welding WITH the Body on!!! 😳
I pictured me doing that, and a big stinky ball of fucking flames - where my Body USED to be!!! 😖😜
Dude those bumpers look awesome bro. Amazing work my friend. Do you sell them?
Not officially. I would probably consider some trading though. Thanks. -"Angry" Dave
Angry Dave's ADULT R/C you should brother you could make some good money making them they look very profesional. I would buy them.
@@acrccrawlers9548 Maybe I'll have to think about it some more. -"Angry" Dave
No problem brother let me know though.
👌
Thanks! The one on the Blazer got tested out yesterday. The vid will be up Thursday. -"Angry" Dave
Where my Fuckin Marker, You make me Laugh mate, Definitely not made for Kids, Awesome Job Dave , Fantastic how to Video to. I might do this my self one day, you know your Shit mate, they do look Aggressive👍 thanks for sharing 👍😁👍
Thanks man. That's awesome to hear. There's no reason not to do it. The worst that can happen with metal is you fuck it up and have to do it over. No big deal. -"Angry" Dave
Y not take the truck out to the welder with u? Then u won't have to go back and forth. J/S lol..👍 cool video anyways
I didn't want to stay in the garage, it's way more comfy in my workshop. Thanks for watchin'! -"Angry" Dave
Where the fuck is my marker!!
I recommend the Milwaukee permanent markers they sell at Home Depot. They'll write on anything. Do it brother, it's super fun to fabricate shit. Sorry for the delayed response, the comment was held for review. -"Angry" Dave
Totally random question, but are you into guns at all Dave? You would be fun to watch review some gun stuff. No nonsense or bullshit.
I am actually. I don't have any yet, because most of my spare cash goes to RC and my hot rod. I do plan on starting a gun collection eventually, if I start a channel about them I'll probably mention it here so everyone that's interested will know. Thanks for the kind words man. -"Angry" Dave
Dont care for the language u use bit otherwise grest ideas
Thanks! Language is like a paint pallet. Use every color. -"Angry" Dave
Very nice!
Thanks! I'm pretty happy with 'em. -"Angry" Dave
@@AngryDavesADULTRC I am building a Cross FR4B at the moment. I have been trying to figure out to upgrade the bumpers. This definatly helps. Thanks.
@@chrisslky7018 Glad I could help. -"Angry" Dave
