This kind of real life review is so much better than a review that running a bunch of benchmarks. Great job.
Thanks a lot Matt I appreciate it ! Took a lot of time to make but worth it for you guys!
Hi bro, Someone commenting on our comments impersonating you. Care, tho they might be false. Innocent ppl can fall prey, may be can announce it off. So no one click their links.
i was about to buy m2 air base model. Now im shifting to 14inch pro. im RN Dev
and the ones that run a bunch of video editing tests.
couldn't agree more 👍🏻
This type of daily routine work review is really splendid! That's what potential buyers really need. Not just remain on the surface of device's specifications like some other youtubers did.
Excellent overview. This is pretty much some of the same conclusions that I came to as well. Lot’s of bells and whistles on the M2, and your breakdown is awesome. Looking forward to more vids from you.
Hi, thank you for your work, too. For those not in the know, this guy produce some awesome apple hardware review!
Alex you are the best
@@jorschachblatant1934 ty!
@@Moe32244 appreciate that. I have a lot to learn, and come to Andres here to see his incredibly beautifully shot reviews.
@@AZisk I'm literally watching one of your videos and got a notification of your reply!
Man, this was priceless! I love how deep you took this one. Can’t wait to see your take on how it stacks up vs the m1 14 inch mbp. Thank you for all you do
Seriously hats off to the editing and in-depth analysis of programming part. From a computer science perspective, love coding albeit i can't afford macbook air M1 in 2022 loved and inspired by your work. Much love and greetings back from India 😍🙏🏻
Love the camera work, editing, and dialog. Keep up the killer work Andres.
I appreciate the nuanced take here. Now that university subreddits are filled with "what laptop for computer science?" type questions again, this really goes to show that the right tool for the job heavily depends on what kind of coding you're doing, ranging from being totally cool with a 10 year old MacBook Pro for your first few C/C++/Java/Python kind of courses, to needing a beefy Nvidia GPU with Cuda cores to train ML models, or anything in between. Though, I can't help but shake the feeling that if you aren't super sure about how your needs may evolve, the base 14" could be the safer bet...?
Finally someone who’s not lying about “it barely gets warm, it stays super cool even when blender cycles rendering”. Thank you!
Bro, I love your channel! Thanks for sharing! I just purchased a new M2 MacBook Air about a month ago and I was scared I made the wrong choice, but your videos have shown the potential this machine has
how are the thermals? are they always high? like 60+ degrees celcius
your editing and camara work are amazing keep up the great work
Super useful review, man! I like the real life comparison between different coding languages. Great work!
Such high level content, love it!
This is the laptop I'm planning on getting for spring semester, to get me used to another OS and have a designated school/work laptop so I don't start stressing when using my gaming laptop for relaxing. Knowing the small SSD amount becomes a problem from many reviews, it enforces my plan to get much more storage space and also more RAM. From the sound of this review and others, it sounds like it'll be the best laptop for my current goals. Great content like always!
I know what you feel, I also can't chill and work on the same machine, that's why I bought this laptop. I want it for my CS college or work, and my PC to just chill and play some games without stress!
If you’re gonna upgrade both RAM and storage you should look into the base 14” M2 MacBook Pro as well, as you’ll be nearing that price. I ended up getting a MacBook Air M2 with 16GB/256GB bc I already have a PC and I’ll only use the laptop for studying (Computer Science) purposes so I don’t need a lot of storage
And also bc Apple storage upgrades are such a scam - you can buy a tiny external 1TB NVMe for a quarter of the price. But if you truly need that much storage for work, I could see it getting annoying to lug around with you
@@essayedgar I already bought the M2 Air, 16GB RAM, upgraded to 1TB of storage. Same for going to school for Comp Science, and I also have a Windows gaming laptop already too. I'm also using the Mac to use as a secondary backup for any of my important stuff, since I take both my Windows laptop and my Mac everywhere with me. I was able to turn the Mac into a dedicated school/work computer, so I can do any networking or programming stuff in my free time without having to worry about needing an external SSD. And the reason I didn't get the 14 inch Mac is because the price was higher than I was wanting to pay at base level, whereas the Air upgraded was cheaper
@@ezioahmet4192 Ah I see. Hope you enjoy your laptop, sounds like it works well for you! I also have a decent spare Windows laptop and a beefy Windows PC to Remote Desktop into if need be. That coupled with the fact that you can use software like Parallels to run Windows 11 ARM means the MacBook Air is a really good choice for us CS students :)
Finally the review I needed... Thank you very much for the video.
Great content Andres.. Always enjoy your videos!
This review was mad helpful, thanks
keep the great work up
I love your cinematics. Awesome channel btw.
You're a hidden gem, thank you for all the work you put in.
Great video! Thank you - this did provide a much different perspective than the general user review
Thank so much! You've solved my doubts about how capable the MBA base model is for programming. BTW, great cinematic and colours, keep doing that work ;)
For international student, the coding dojo prices are super expensive and their flexible option only allow to pay in 2 installments which is still 8k usd ^^. -Coming from Asia, though it is does hold good value, we dont have the money haha. Hope the bootcamps do something about pricing for international students.
Besides, that I love your videos Andres, I want to learn how to make those cinematic blocks. Do you have course on skill share or something? or where did you learn to do the camera work?
In my experience, it was really easy to get Flutter running on my M1 Pro MBP recently for work. I know just saying that isn't helpful. But I promise you it's possible to do it easily. I'm not sure what issues you ran into specifically. And it works great! Even on Android emulators too!
This is exactly why I come back to this channel everytime.
Awesome video. I like the visual vibe of your videos 👍🏻
I was honestly expecting this review the way it was. even in 20 years having a computer with no fans will still be a bad idea.
Love the vid, what theme are you using on VSCode? Looks super clean!
Now this is really good review not just some stupid benchmarks but real life project situations
Your videos are top tier. I love how straightforward and, honestly, inspiring they are. Great job my guy. 👍🏻
Thank you very much Kent! I try to pack as much info as I can in them
muy buen video amigo! se nota el trabajo y dedicación que le das! (estoy mas seguro de querer la pro 14' :D )
Your cinematic are always nice
always do this type of reviews plz, this is more helpful and gives better idea cuz you tried different technologies
Thank you for this review Andrez.
Awesome, love that you make videos for Programmers
Gotta thanks Coding Dojo for funding my Andres addiction
FR!!
Thank you so much man !! This was super helpful
Great job as always 💪🔥
Another priceless review. Many thanks
Hey thanks for this!
Hey man! Setting up my M1 based on yours-- what font are you using to get the apple logo at the start of your iterm terminal? I'm assuming powerlevel10k but not sure what font you picked!
I love your content on CZcams. You are the best ❤❤❤
Excelente análisis! Yo actualmente uso Xamarin.Forms así que calculo que tendría los mismos inconvenientes con la Ram. Conectando un celular en vez de un emulador, seria una solución?
pleasure to watch! great videography.
Impressive work That’s incredible how a person paired with a computer can make such illustrations. Thank you for sharing your video The APPLE Products Look Beautiful
One of best reviews! Thanks for taking time :) please do include react native with expo in future reviews.
Awesome review. Thanks alot!
I AM EARLY TODAY!! Love from Australia 💓💓
Love the whole setup, great job. Oh yeah, the video was dope too! haha!
The mat on your table might be preventing your laptop from dissipating heat properly.
its been quite some time since I've started developing mobile applications using react native (expo) and flutter. React native (expo) is a clear winner when it comes to resource consumption. Flutter is so resource heavy and requires both cooling and resources (RAM & CPU). Its important to note that this doesn't mean that react native is better. heavy development process doesn't mean bad results, as a matter of fact. flutter performs better in many sides.
What is the temperature when developing with React? Like how many simulators are you running and what ide do you use?
Okay, now we are talking. Thanks for the ce been looking for this.
Really curious if you’ve tried remote development, would that be a breeze on the Air or would it still heat up?
Nice video !
What Vs Code Theme do you use ?
@Andres Vidoza
Can you please tell from where have you purchased those keycaps on your keyboard?
Which app do you use for monitoring temperature? I saw a icon on top of your screen.
Any idea how to access application running on apple silicon minikube with docker driver?
It would be great if you know any way out.
thank you for this, i'm looking into getting one of these soon. mainly for react native work
Andres: *Complaining about almost unnoticeable lag of the new SSD on an M2 Macbook*
Me: *quietly coding on my 4GB RAM Intel Celeron laptop*
Great one! Do you miss the MacBook Pro Touch bar? How's the M2 Air today, still using it? You do pure coding or use some photo and video editor app's as well? I'm looking forward for M3. I do coding as well + little photo and video side. I'm wondering about the heat, since there is no fan inside. Is it something to "worry about" in long term? I believe M3 handles it even better. Currently thinking.. should I Go M3 Air or Pro. As well depends how many ports they give. (At the moment I have MacBook Pro 2018 i5 8gb Touch - can do all things needed, working good - I'm wearing off the command button myself)
Hey I'm a web dev and I'm not sure if I need to buy the 8Go or the 16Go M2 mac, I mainly use Vue/Svelte , what do you think ?
it's funny how there are like a dozen of comments asking about vs code color theme with no answer still xD would be nice to actually discover the answer. seems like an honest review, appreciate it
Idk why he dont say, i've been trying to find everywhere, i've tried do Dm him on IG, google-it, scroll his instagram page, but no answer whatsoever
I need to replace my old MacBook Air and I didn’t feel like getting a pro. It’s nice that you managed to get some work done with a 8gb, I can’t afford both 16gb and the ssd upgrade soo I guess I’ll go for the ssd upgrade since my old air was the worst for that. Thanks so much for the very detailed review!
Did you end up getting the SSD upgrade?
M1 or M2 , which one is best for programming, pl specify varient which to buy
Awesome video! Subbed and Liked, good stuff. I do a lot of fullstack development so I'm jumping around between angular, C#, sql and thus ended up buying a surface laptop 5 because my work issued MacBook pro 13.4" from 2022 was a bit uncomfortable for windows development even with visual studio on mac - just wasn't feeling it... But I'm the undecisive type and I'm having seconds thoughts lol may drive up to bbuy to test out MacBook air 15....
Fantastic review!
Can you make a video about the new dell xps 13 plus and is it worth to buy one more then the other 13 inch ultrabooks ?!?
the quality of this video is insane
What Technologies will you prefer for becoming a full stack Web Developer. Describe briefly from starting through through Frontend to Backend.
would you recommend me this laptop over a Chromebook for web development, music, browsing web with 10 tabs and some python????
Need to buy one today. Is Mac pro M2 good for java development? Java 11+, mysql, intellij, visual studio, android studio, flutter, visual studio code, chrome, etc. will run on M2? Thanks.
Would you recommend the 13 air for writing, software development (in rust), web development and photo editing? (I would use it as my main computer and use it all day)
Hey Andres thanks for this video! Makes me feel much better about going for the base model. Just a question, could you maybe test how Safari compares to the other two browsers you tried? I’d expect that to be even more optimised. Thanks a lot!
Hey so how is the base model for a dev
@@ConvictedFelon0 You know what mate, I ended up buying the M1 Pro instead... I wanted to have the overhead in power, plus the screen in the pro has now become the best thing ever for my design work, especially the changeable colour profiles. Found a good deal, so only had to spend a bit more to get the pro model instead. (P.S.: Best decision I made!!)
Thank you so much for the video man, as a flutter dev, I was confused to go ahead with MBA 13 m2 (16/512 with new design) or MBP 13 m2 (16/512 with old design). Now I have very much clarity and I will buy the macbook pro 13 inch to run my emulators very smoothly without burning my thighs😂.
Thanks alot.❤
Mba m1 16gb or mba m2 8gb? Which one is better for android, ios, angular and java dev?
Great high effort review!
hey andres, silly question , could you tell me the theme you used for vs code, thanks
Great review as always! How to show the temperature on the menu bar? Thanks!
Super Video Bro Intro Super cool
Whats the VSCode theme you use at 10:16?
Thank you soo much man. I'm a flutter developer considering this and m1 pro.
That self driving mini project is available on github ?
mam your videos are a vibe like a great vibe
Have you tried displaylink compatible docks to connect more screens that M1/2 allows?
What app are you using to monitor your temperatures like that if you don’t mind asking?
Where did you learn programming? You could do a course series or something? Like python java HTML 5?
1:18 Daaaang You built yourself quite the collection here 😳
Lit content bro!
Naaaa bruv i aint fallin for that
I mean that is hot but compared to my intel Mac Pro running VSC that is super impressive. If I didn’t have a fan on my Mac would be way hotter, just a thought about how well the silicone does handle heat!
Currently I mostly work on React but maybe in the future i might go to mobile app dev. My main concern was related to throotling in airs as the temp rises. Is that really a big issue or it rarely happens?
with your proficiency at describing, i can see you creating a new channel to teach people in other domains(Machine learning, Coding).
It would be nice to have your perspective on that.
Hey 🙌,
Should i go for m1/8gb for MERN Stack development workflows.
Hey the video was very helpfull, but i have one question "What app do you use to show the temp in the menu bar" ?
What is the LUT that you are using??? It's fantastic!
thank you for the video now i am going for gaming laptop with heavy graphics card in this budget
I need help. I got a 16 inch macbook pro 2021 but i feel like i dont get much out of it. i mainly use it for content, college en web development/design. Should i sell this and go for m2? or am i too late. been using it a year now.
Hey Andres! Hope you are doing well) what's your vscode theme? I'm a big fan of orange 😂
I will be running all kinds of programming languages starting from cybersecurity, web development, app development, cloud computing, software development, etc. I would need appropriate high performing apps for that so would the MacBook still be a good choice? Or should I go for windows?
Thank you for your review! I have a question here, which one is better for full stack development(react/react native) : Macbook pro m1 or macbook air m2?
So 8gb is enough for let's say, learning to code? like for web dev
guys can u tell me what is the theme on vscode in this video!!??
Im searching for too long, but found only similarity, not specifically this one((
im afraid about the thermals, are they really that bad constantly? makes my kinda scared tbh. i do like the looks of the mba over the mbp a lot more. it looks way better in my opinion, but that doesnt justify the thermals. if the thermals dont damadge the laptop overtime then thats okay i guess.
As a programmer which one of these choices is better? Buy a Desktop PC with i513400 + 4060ti or MacBook Air m2 8/512?
