Anne Hathaway has such a movie voice, when you listen to her, you know exactly why she's famous
WithADashOfPazazz damn, this is the realist comment
Diction
Exactly
Anne has a TRAINED voice. Well trained. By her mother who was a voice and music teacher. That crystal clear bell sort of sound is partially natural, taking good care of it and proper training.
If Daisy actually joined the cast of a Broadway show I'd be there in a heartbeat
You and me both!!
Can I carpool with you guys
I'll pitch a friggen tent like I was waiting for the iPhone 20
Lol same I'll see you guys there
TJ Hastie She was rumored to be playing Louise in Barbra Streisand's Gypsy remake film before that lost it's backers
I love that Daisy has a strong English accent when singing in this.
Nothing quite like an English accent!
She has a strong English accent at any moment 😂
@@otinad2008 lol and she has a pretty deep voice for a woman while speaking normally.
@@aidanmarquez3348 yeah ikr 😂
These three gave me chills. The harmonies and voices are absolutely perfect.
The Queen, Barbra Streisand.
The Princess, Anne Hathaway.
The Rebel, Daisy Ridley
New favorite arrangement ❤️❤️❤️
Can Chris Pine be the prince??????
It's the "Resistance", not the "Rebels", you're off by a few generations
UMMM technically, Anne Hathaway is Queen of Genovia...so like....yeah
Now it's the Queen Anne and the Jedi Daisy Ridley
I enjoyed the powerful combination of their harmony while mimicking the metronome. Still, most of the chills or at least a floating sensation came from the way they convey "Everything/everyone is beautiful..."
I think "rebel" for Daisy is a better stylistic choice than "resistor". Creative Media Publishing does too. Their children's biography of Daisy is called, "Daisy Ridley: Behind the Rebel" In their case, it is a reference to her character "Rey". Yours begins there but it suits this character rebelling against her lying mother at 8 or 9. Maggie dreams of being daddy's dancing princess and Sheila is the queen with an attitude that is ready to rule. And as usual everything is beautiful when Streisand is in the studio recording!
DAISY AND ANNE ARE BOTH PRECIOUS GEMS PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS
its shame that these two actresses with talent, recive a lot of haters over the years for a lot of bullshit reasons
I couldn't agree more. Most of Anne's haters come from Jennifer Lawrence worshipers. They can't deal with Hathaway being more talented than Lawrence.
films5555 and most Daisy haters judge her a lot for being a feminist character because she is the main lead in tfa, and not a man like the other entries. Oh yeah because when the other six films have all male leads, and not enought female characters is okey. And when theres one film with a female lead, everybody looses their mind
no one lost their mind not every man is sexist.
+Harry c The latter part, yes. But quite a few morons did lose their minds. They're been humiliating themselves steadily for six months now.
Daisy playing Bebe....like BB-8. Hehe.
HAHAHAH! YASSS!!!
was looking for this comment 😂😂
That's what I thought!
It's actually the name of the character in _A Chorus Line_ :)
TheLadyWhoLunches I know. haha. I was making a Star Wars joke.
Why is no one talking Anne though? Her voice is stunning and so smooth and easy on the ears.
it's part of the chorus line script
Yes....I agree though and her voice was nothing but lovely and smooth.
It's easy to see why she won an Oscar for Le Mis. I didn't know she could sing until Hugh Jackman pulled her onstage when he hosted the Academy Awards. They were amazing.
@@joyflavell7385 I don't see it actually. Lea Salonga deserves that Oscar. I haven't seen Anne in a role that wasn't completely replaceable since Rachel Getting Married. This last decade has just shown how overrated she is to me. And I don't hate her I just think she is very niche unlike what her work would suggest.
@@ania5038Lea solonga is so fabulous
Daisy Ridley can SING?!...I love her even more :)
Right?!?!? And WHAT a magnificent voice she has! There's such a thing as vocal presence, and she's got it.
Well, she did have some vocal training at one point as well as dance training.
Tbh she just barely can
@Amalia Carrasco not really, I envy a lot of great singers, and that's why I keep studying and training. She's not one of them. She's actually ok, but just ok, compared to Broadway standards
@@nikofaershee4235 tbh u know absolutely nothing about singing if u claim she can’t sing that well
Someone put Daisy Ridley in a musical ASAP
sHe SaId ShE wAnTs To Be In OnE
and also i wanna be a screenwriter and I wanna write her a musical so... a little help would be very welcome :D
Sally Bowles please????? Or Louise in Gypsy
@EMTJEA Anne has been in many stage productions
DAISY'S VOICE!!! HER BELT AT 6:28!!! LIFE!!!
daisy shocked me with her high. it’s towards the end with “at the ballet” she tackled it like a champ. and the harmonisation was gorgeous
I was going "DAMN." I did not know she could sing like that.
I think you are not giving Anne enough credit. I mean.. those vocals!!! Damn!!
Darla Pulido I think everyone knows Anne is so amazing but Daisy is new to everyone, and she turned out amazing too!
Yes, her voice is angelic!
Not to mention Anne was very pregnant when they recorded this.
@@BritAlex22 just curious but does being pregnant influence your singing
@@cartoonfreak9635 good question! It can, the further along you are the more certain ligaments change position and can completely change your voice. Breathing is also impacted, deeper breaths are harder when pregnant and breath support is important for singing.
Its so beautiful Daisy's British accent singing, like so unique
DAISY RIDLEY IS MY QUEEN YAAAS
WOOP ANOTHER TAYLOR AND DAISY FAN
Are you kidding me, Daisy with that last note?! This is such a gift!
That is Anne Hathaway hitting the high note- not Daisy. I swear Daisy fanatics will do anything to praise her.
First off, I'm not a "Daisy Fanatic", I'm simply very impressed with her (until now) hidden vocal ability... Second, at 6:26, that's all Daisy. Try again. :)
+films5555 that's Daisy. And I'm more of an Anne fan than Daisy, and its definitely Daisy singing.
You're wrong there, if you get a decent headset, each of them are positioned on different parts. Barba is center hearing, Anne is left ear, Daisy is right ear. The final vocal was Anne's
6:26 is Daisy, but the higher note after at 6:32 is Anne. You can tell by the panning.
It's like 3 generations of awesome.
The Force is strong with her.
A wonderful rendition! Never expected Barbra would do something SO theatrical in this era. Your studio albums have never disappointed and this one is no exception!
Look what happened to the Broadway Album! No one expected that either. NUMBER ONE
anne Hathaway is really a great singer
Daisy, Anne and Barbra sound great together. Daisy is following Carrie Fisher's footsteps by showcasing musical ability.
Daisy is like an Angel from Heaven ❤️✨💗
Daisy's voice gave me chills! Why were we not made aware of this sooner?!?!
best version of this song i have ever heard. Theater songs are the best material for Barbra. Anne Hathaway and Daisy were coached well by Barbra. I can see Daisy Ridley playing the Natalie Wood role in Gypsy, she even looks a little like Natalie.
Somewhere I hope Marvin Hamlisch is smiling. His dear friend Barbra and her talented pals have created magic, and in the process will help introduce A Chorus Line to some new ears.
Amen!!
Daisy has such a good voice
The voice of an angel... DAISY❤
I never thought she would have (only because it's so rare to find a wonderful actress who also has a wonderful Broadway voice), but then I heard this and I slapped past-me in the face.
Of *course,* she can sing beautifully too because she is simply perfection.
+Darin Michael I felt the same way about Anne Hathaway, and every time I hear her voice, it just surprises me more and more. Especially in Les Mis, and now even this song.
Daisy has such a beautiful voice! Barbara and Anne were great, but there’s just something about Daisy’s singing that I love.
Youth
There are no words to describe this song but incredible! Streisand still has it!
Her collaboration with Anne Hathaway and Daisy Ridley has proven to be successful!
Bravo
This is so beautiful! Barbra, Anne, and Daisy have such beautiful voices that go amazing with each other! And Daisy's high note at 6:28 is just beyond amazing! :D
Wow ! I like Daisy, but Anne Hathaway is the one hitting that high E5 note. I swear Daisy's worshipers/Star Wars worshipers are so desperate to praise her, that they do not want to give Anne her due.
+films5555 I'm not a "Daisy Worshipper", and I even know that was actually Daisy that hit that high E5 at 6:28. Anne and Daisy do not sound similar at all. It was definitely Daisy. Listen to this song with earphones or something, you'll get a better sound of who sings what. 6:30 Anne sings "At the Ballet" with Barbra.
+films5555 Im not desperate to praise Daisy in any way. I gave Anne praise in my comment also and her singing has improved since I heard her in Les Mis and her voice is just amazing. But I still believe that it was Daisy hitting the high note because she was trained in singing I'm not sure about Anne tho cause I haven't looked that up yet but I'm not trying to start a fight here okay.
+lolhahahano addition to that yes Anne was also sang previously while she was younger (just looked it up right now.)
Anne stated she purposely didn't want to sing like Patti Lupone in Les Mis. She wanted a more subtle version, so people can hear the lyrics and create a mood. Again, no, Hathaway is hitting that E high note in this song.
Is it just me, or is Daisy Ridley's British accent is present somehow in her singing voice? Or maybe it's because of the dialogue parts. This is the first time I heard a distinct British accent in singing.
I think it's partly to do with the fact she's partly speaking, not just singing, and in certain songs we keep our accents.
Definitely. It's strange that you've never heard a distinct English accent in singing (it is an English accent, there is no "British accent") as in musical theatre, West End actors performing on stage and singing on cast recordings don't sing in American accents (unless the characters they are portraying are American, of course). They tend to sing in a standard English accent - listen to the Phantom or Les Miserables original (i.e. LONDON) cast recordings for plenty of examples :)
1975 chocolate, ed sheeran in every single song and many, many english actors in theatre has that distinct accent. It adds flavour to the songs
don't you listen to Soul II Soul?
Listen to the musical Six all the actresses keep their accent in the songs.
A chorus line is the musical of my life. Barbra, Daisy and Anne were gorgeous as Sheila, BB and Maggie.
2:57 for all Daisy fans
PickledKhan/SQU1SHY PENGUIN THANK YOU!♥️
Her part was absolutely amazing
6:26 for the amazing high note belting she sings 😊😄
Let’s get Daisy and Abel on a track lol it would be a complete mix of different genres but it might work out
Omg Daisy Ridley can sing
Barbra's voice haven't changed at all! ❤️❤️ She's eternal.. I ADORE HER!
Daisy and Anne's voice are perfect for this and not overshadow each other. It's just wonderful. EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL! *happy tears*
[SHEILA]
Daddy always thought that he married beneath him.
That's what he said, that's what he said.
When he proposed he informed my mother
He was probably her very last chance.
And though she was twenty-two,
Though she was twenty-two,
Though she was twenty-two,
She married him.
Life with my dad wasn't ever a picnic
More like a "Come as you are."
When I was five I remember my mother
Dug earrings out of the car
I knew they weren't hers, But it wasn't
Something you'd want to discuss.
He wasn't warm.
Well, not to her.
Well, not to us
But
Everything was beautiful at the ballet.
Graceful men lift lovely girls in white.
Yes,
Everything was beautiful at ballet.
Hey!
I was happy... at the ballet.
That's why I started class...
Up a steep and very narrow stairway.
[SHEILA AND BEBE]
To the voice like a metronome.
Up a steep and very narrow stairway.
[SHEILA]
It wasn't paradise...
[BEBE]
It wasn't paradise...
[SHEILA AND BEBE]
It wasn't paradise...
[SHEILA]
But it was home.
[BEBE]
Mother always said I'd be very attractive
When I grew up, when I grew up.
"Diff'rent," she said, "With a special something
And a very, very personal flair."
And though I was eight or nine,
Though I was eight or nine,
Though I was eight or nine,
I hated her.
Now,
"Diff'rent" is nice, but it sure isn't pretty.
"Pretty" is what it's about.
I never met anyone who was "diff'rent"
Who couldn't figure that out.
So beautiful I'd never lived to see.
But it was clear,
If not to her,
Well, then... to me...
That ...
[MAGGIE AND BEBE]
Everyone is beautiful at the ballet.
Every prince has got to have his swan.
Yes,
Everyone is beautiful at the ballet.
[MAGGIE]
Hey!...
[BEBE]
I was pretty...
[SHEILA]
At the ballet
[MAGGIE, SHEILA AND BEBE]
Up a steep and very narrow stairway
To the voice like a metronome.
Up a steep and very narrow stairway
[MAGGIE]
It wasn't paradise...
[BEBE]
It wasn't paradise...
[SHEILA]
It wasn't paradise...
[MAGGIE, SHEILA AND BEBE]
But it was home.
[MAGGIE (Spoken)]
I don't know what they were for or against, really,
except each other.
I mean I was born to save their marriage
but when my father came to pick my mother up
at the hospital
he said, "Well, I thought this was going to help.
but I guess it's not..."
Anyway, I did have a fantastic fantasy life.
I used to dance around the living room
with my arms up like this
My fantasy was that it was an Indian Chief...
And he'd say to me,
"Maggie, do you wanna dance?"
And I'd say, "Daddy, I would love to dance!"
[SHEILA AND MAGGIE]
Doo-doo-doo-doo
[BEBE]
But it was clear...
[BEBE AND MAGGIE]
Doo-doo-doo
[SHEILA]
When he proposed...
[SHEILA AND BEBE]
Doo-doo-doo
[MAGGIE]
That I was born to help their marriage and when
[MAGGIE AND BEBE]
Doo-doo-doo-doo
[SHEILA]
That's what he said...
[SHEILA AND MAGGIE]
Doo-doo-doo
[BEBE]
That's what she said...
[BEBE AND SHEILA]
Doo-doo-doo
[MAGGIE]
I used to dance around the living room...
[BEBE AND SHEILA]
Doo-doo-doo-doo
[SHEILA]
He wasn't warm...
[SHEILA AND MAGGIE]
Doo-doo-doo
[BEBE]
Not to her...
[MAGGIE]
It was an Indian chief and he'd say:
"Maggie, do you wanna dance?"
And I'd say, "Daddy, I would love to..."
Everything was beautiful at the ballet,
Raise your arms and someone's always there.
Yes, everything was beautiful at the ballet,
At the ballet,
At the ballet!!!
[MAGGIE, SHEILA AND BEBE]
Yes everything was beautiful at the ballet.
[MAGGIE]
HEY!...
[BEBE]
I was pretty...
[SHEILA]
I was happy...
[MAGGIE]
"I would love to..."
[MAGGIE, SHEILA AND BEBE]
At...the...ballet.
Charlotte Wadrop the names are so off
DAISY RIDLEY SLAYS
6:27 that's Daisy, right?! Someone please tell me tHAT'S DAISY!
Caitlin Williams It's her. Incredible voice. Hope she gets a musical soon.
Yes, that is Daisy
Yes
The high not at the end is her too !
God is there anything she can't do?
This is friggen AMAZING! I can't stop listening! If Rey just burst out singing in episode VIII, I'd be perfectly fine with it
I love Anne when she sings 😍🤩🥰
Daisy is fucking life
After hearing this, I'm pretty sure there is absolutely *nothing* that Daisy cannot do. She is just perfection!
Zander Daisy is freaking awesome
JJ Abrams and the Casting Crew for Star Wars the Force Awakens must have stopped dead in their tracks when Daisy Ridley arrived for casting call. They literally came across a talent "from a Galaxy far far away" and had the insight to let talent do the rest. Nothing else need to be said. A Star is Born. Or, is it a Galaxy.
OMG! Why did this make me cry? So amazing.
Me too
Inga Aloosh I think its the combination of her voice, the production and the fact that it is a Marvin Hamlisch song evokes a lot of emotions.
This pieces always tears me up. It's the stories, so simple, and common, yet so moving, and of course, the music it's so inspiring.
Inclined to agree - but could one of them not have had a happy background? Be happy
I did cry, too.
Daisy should totally be in a musical she would be amazing!
she wants to be in one let's hope it happens shkksjhsk
Daisy got pipes!
Classic Streisand, what a vocal performance!
I want Daisy to make more music
Ikr I wld definitely get the album...
i love Daisy Ridley
The first time i ever heard this song was on glee. And Glee introduced me to Barbra as well, it introduced me to a lot of good music and singers. lol.
This song is so much better in the context of the musical. TBH, Glee kind of butchered it, but it butchered a lot of things in seasons 4-5, so it wasn't uniquely bad. A Chorus Line is one of my favorite musicals, so I feel pretty strongly about this song.
The glee version was pretty good performance, if you ignore the musical
Seriously is there anything that Daisy cannot do in this world or not
I’m starting to think so..
She's talented af. Too bad some dumbasses chased her off and lowered her self esteem with their hateful words because of a movie that had horrible writing. She deserved more.
Got two of my favourite actresses, Anne Hathaway and Daisy Ridley *.*
Streisand, the 'director' who sings, has elicited superior performances from both Miss Hathaway and Miss Ridley. Brava!
Daisy sings.....wow I did not know that....she is even more perfect
This is fucking amazing!!! I don't even know that Daisy can SING, and it is an exciting prospect to see her in Barbra's Gypsy.
Have always loved this beautifully heartbreaking song. Well done girls!
daisys voice is a blessing to us all
This will be the place where A Chorus Line, Barbra Streisand, and Star Wars collide.
and Catwoman!
or princess amelia mignonette grimaldi thermopolis renaldo
+Nischal Prajapati princess of genovia
QUEEN of Genovia.
and mirana the white queen... :-D
Those 3 women are PERFECT
They all sound so beautiful! So proud of Daisy:)
As a former ballet dancer and a fan of all of these women, my heart is swelling right now. :')
I love daisy in this 😍
This is an Absolutely Sensational recording and a Sensational trio of voices. I am from the generation of fans of Barbra Streisand and she 'brings it' as always.
Ronald Dennis ('Richie', original cast of "A Chorus Line!")
Wow! You're a part of Broadway history! Kudos to you!
Much respect sir, I tip my hat to you!
Ronald Dennis how amazing. Kudos sir. Richie was always one of my very favorites
Oh, what a pleasure to see you respond, Mr. Dennis. Loved listening to you on my copy of A Chorus Line. It's a brilliant cast and you were magnificent!
Why Thank You, April.
ACL still keeps on giving and finding new fans. It was a glorious time being in a hit without the aid of social media. There is a video on CZcams about Hamilton honoring us a couple of years back at The Public Theater. The original home of ACL. Great time that was also. We were told that the Theater is still using the original seats in the Newman Theater. 🤔😀
Wait until the masses see Hamilton.
Brabara excellent choice for Daisy! EXCELLENT! 👏
"At the Ballet" from the musical A Chorus Line…Composed by Marvin Hamlish…This is amazing…Wow! What a wonderful surprise. Barbra, Ann, Daisy and Bradley Cooper are great…And that orchestra is super super fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo to Mr Ross! Merci!
Daisy's voice really surprised me!! she's wonderful, I love listening to her sing
Just when you think daisy can't get any better she does his
Man I really hope to see Daisy to some kind of Broadway Musical or a movie musical! She is a great singer!
Everyone is prasing Daisy for her high note at around 6:26 and I do believe it sounded beautiful, but I'm not impressed she hit that note overall, I'm impressed she hit it in her chest voice. I'm a 1st soprano and usually I would have to transfer to my head voice in order to hit that note
Tatum Dean You're a soprano and you can't reach a D5 in chestmix?
Tatum Dean she is definitely using some sort of mix but it's still really awesome
She isn't completely in chest voice, she turned it in a sort of mixed voice, listen carefully
uh...depends on what kind of soprano and training. Its only a D, its not the end of the world. I mean if it was a high A and up, then o.k.
Tatum Dean I’m a high tenor and can hit a D5 easy in a mix, i can’t in chest though so I know what you mean. But she used a mix not chest
DAISY'S VOICE IS SO BEAUTIFUL, GLORIOUS, GRACIOUS, ANGELIC, AND HEAVENLY!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I always knew Anne has a stunning singing voice, but that’s the first time I heard daisy sing and I swear if she gets on broadway I’ll be there in a second
i just saw this video 3 years later. this is literally amazing daisy ridley is insane
Daisy could do a musical for sure but I also want to see her beauty up on the screen!
5:43 to 6:45 is the best thing ever. especially at like 6:30. it's beautiful.
sara karpen love it!
So butiful is there nothing daisy can't do!! This makes me love her even more and even Anne Hathaway.
wow!!!! her voice is so amazing!
I know, right?! I'm pretty sure she is perfect in every way. Just, wow.
4:44 wooooow Daisy! what a beautiful voice ❤️😍
Very good. Would love to see a video.
That would be amazing, if Barbra did a music video! What was the last music video she did? Emotions?
WOW. WOW. WOW. Barbra returns home - to Broadway with some very talented & lovely ladies. SO EXCITING !! Brava.
Barbra streisand is so great 6:04 - 6:48 >>>> Best singer worldwide
A fine arrangement. Classic harmony, dynamic energy, and of course a wonderful tempo.
One of the songs you hate to end.
who knew daisy ridley had this voice?
I keep listening to daisy at 6:27 😍
oh my god daisy's perfect for broadway!
I am sitting here literally in tears that is no joke! Chorus Line is one of my favorite shows and At The Ballet has got to be my favorite songs from that show other than What I Did For Love. I'm sure she did this for Marvin. I am in total tears! I love this! I cannot wait for this album! I've always wanted to record this song but I don't quite have the vocal mastery to pull off being three people. I can do two people, but not three, lol, but this is just wonderful. Rey can sing, who knew?
I have to say, Ms. Hathaway sounds GREAT! They ALL are truly impressive here...and the blending of voices is WONDERFUL!
OMG Anne Hathaway sing so beautifully!!
Anne's voice takes my breathe away.
This is my favorite thing in existence.
Daisy Ridley can sing? Get it, girl!
barbra's voice is so gorgeous and i will always love her 😀
This project clearly is a league with "The Broadway Album," a singular achievement. Thrilling!
If only that were true.
+Gordon Hall it IS true!
Transgender From The Beginning No Her voice is shot now.
+Gordon Hall and yet she STILL sounds better than every other female singer out there!
Marissa Foster I can't listen to her this way. It's too compromised.
Give me On A Clear Day any day.
Wow oh wow. Triple threat. Beautiful!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I am just engulfed every time by the beauty of this. It's really good for vocal practice too.
SING, AUNTIE BARBRA!
Thank you so very very much Mr. Hamlisch.................We miss you.
this is so beautiful, it's my favorite in the whole album
As usual Barbara slays it!
Am a bIg fan of all three. 🌹❤️
Anne sounds so good here omg
YAY we finally yeah Daisy sing. We have heard alot about it but never heard it, now we do. And am i the only one WHO would love to see this beeing performed LIVE at the oscars? :)
This is outstanding! I love Barbra, Anne, and Daisy
All so talented
beautiful music. daisy ridley, who knew? nice surprise! wonderful voice!
I wish they could have like a full music video for this
I'm glad everyone likes Anne again. I love her.
