I do this everyday. Usually 15 minutes at a time nonstop. When I first started a few years ago I actually had bruises on my sides. I love it. I am 53 and wear a size 4. Sometimes I hula hoop outside by the pool because I cant just lay there to tan. I also won a hula hoop contest at St. Pete beach

I tried hula hooping with a weighted hoop at a gym. I really enjoyed it. I too, got a bit of bruising around my middle. But it went away. I never thought of measuring though. But then I moved away from that location. I didn’t know you could buy them.

I didn't know how to hoola hoop as a child but taught myself as an adult. You have to stagger your feet. If you hooping counter clockwise the left foot should be slightly forward while the right is back. Reverse the stance for clockwise. Plus I always flex my abs so my hips isn't doing most of the work. Keep at it. You're doing good.

  • @iluvpie20101

My ballroom teacher just taught me that hula hooping has a technique, you have to practice movement with front, back, side to side, diagonally, figure eight - thus, creating the perfect circle. Then you have to make it super small and that’ll keep the momentum !!! It’s subtle hip action versus whole body

If you're having any trouble with hula hooping, here are some things to remember:
The dropping it adds an extra element of bending or squatting to the workout.
It's all in the legs. Or at least that helps me a lot, depending on what you're doing exactly. It's more about shifting weight than making a circular motion.
The bigger/heavier a hula hoop is, the easier it is to keep it up
Even a non-weighted hula hoop is a great workout if you do it long enough.
I love hula hooping! I could never do it as a kid, but was introduced as an adult a few years ago and it's so much fun and a great workout. It's good to see it becoming more mainstream.
Thank you for your video! I love your content!

If you buy one of these huge heavy hoops PLEASE be cautious and make sure you learn both directions as it can be bad for your back and will only work one side of your abs. I never bought one i use dance hoops and look forward to my daily spinning to good tunes.

There are different size hoops. If you're a beginner you may want to measure from the ground to your belly button and get a hoop with the same diameter as your measurement. The smaller the hoop, the faster you will need to move to keep the hoop up. This is why you usually see smaller hoops used for trick or off body movements.

I've been told the key is actually a pumping motion in the stomach. So you contract your stomach in and then kind of arch your back the other way. It worked for me years ago but I haven't tried it in a long time.

I really enjoyed this, as I have been hooping for one week now. I am 2 inches down on my waist. I have days where it feels like great momentum and I think there is progress. But then I have another day where I feel like it doesn't make sense. Again... I keep reminding myself it takes time. 😂 Your video was hilarious!

I just ordered the Swiss Activa+ Infinity Hoop Smart Weighted since my daughter did and loves it. She HATES working out, she HATES and/or is always too exhausted to do anything more than get through work. If she's willing to try, so am I. And, this way, it's not a normal hula hoop, so maybe I can get more than 10 minutes at a stretch and you can increase the weight/difficulty.

@@violakarl6900 I too thought a month trial would make an interesting video with mass appeal. Telling an individual to try it or to take responsibility for themself adds nothing to the discussion. To purchase the hoop, start a dedicated month-long program, keep results to yourself is a no-brainer. Having the youtuber follow up would have greater appeal, more views, possibly provide motivation & answer an intriguing thought. Your initial comment came across as immediately shutting down & discounting the value of Just C's comment. I realize it wasnt your intention, but keep in mind that written words are often be misinterpreted. -- best to scrutinize wording before posting.

Don’t wanna be a Debbie downer but just want to remind everyone that spot reduction of fat is not a thing! The only real way to lose inches is by losing weight which will come off proportionally wherever your body stores fat. Hula hooping is a good calorie burner and also tones those abdominals and obliques so that’s good! But any activity that gets you in a caloric deficit will get you losing fat.
