  • Welcome to the installation of Cruise control on a 2004 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon. This is a full guide on the install of the cruise control stalk and the 4 pin brake switch is required to make this work. Before carrying out the works, its best that you check that the plugs are already there.

Luke, this is something I'd like to do on my 2009 Mercedes-Benz W204 C200 but I believe that I might have to change the ECU to enable it. Fitting the stalk is always the easy bit. Mine has the manaul geabox. The automatics had cruise control fitted as standard. Lack of cruise control is one thing I don't like about my C200. Fortunately, my 2003 Volvo XC90 has cruise control.

Im sure there will be the option to install it, but you will need to to install a clutch switch im sure if theres not one already.

Great video mate, really helpful. On the stalk, you can separate the lever from the body meaning you can cut a smaller hole and then refit the stalk after. The cruise control stalk was held in place by the bolts for me, no extras needed.
Any idea how I remove the odb port from the trim to get better access to the brake switch? I can't get a screwdriver in to remove the whole unit

Hello! I have a 2004 Legacy GT spec.b twinscroll with a manual (proper) gearbox, just like yours but in blue. There can't be many of us around with that spec!
Just a quick one - mine came with an aftermarket cruise control system fitted, but its recently decided to pack up, so i'm going to go your route and fit the proper OEM kit. I can't seem to find any part numbers for the control stalk and 4-pin switch - do you have them to hand please?
I'm in the north of England too, so i'll give you a wave if our paths cross!
    Cheers!

Not be many. I dont have the part numbers I'm afraid. I just asked on subaru forums for people breaking cars. They supplied me with then parts.

@@bluudysgarage Ah i see, thanks for replying anyway. Not to worry i stumbled across some diagrams yesterday which helped me out.
For any others, i THINK these are the part numbers you'd need for this job (but obviously double check first):
      Control stalk: 83151AG000
      Brake switch: 83370AA001
