- This neighbour of Romania, with which also shares a language (called “Romanian” in Romania and “Moldovan” in Moldova), and once proposed to reintegrate with that nation, also used the Romanian anthem for the first few years after its 1991 independence from the Soviet Union (which was also its anthem during its short time of independence from 1917-1918). Its new anthem was adopted in 1994.

Just to tell you, in Moldovan we usually only use î instead â, except when talking about Romanian like român. In Romanian, people would write bread as pâine, but in Moldovan we write pîine. (Just a little thing to make the subtitles completely correct cause I saw some â’s)

Well, according to what I researched, Moldova has to let go of Gagauzia and Transnistria. Cause when it unites with Romania, the autonomous status of this regions will be terminated.
ArvinRoido Atienza Well, historically speaking, Transnistria was not part of Great Romania. If Moldova reunites with Romania, the border will probably be set at the Nistru/Dniestr river, like it was between 1918-1940. That would mean that Bender(Tighina) would become Romania and the villages on the left side of the river controlled by Moldova now would becoe part of Transnistria. Transnistria as a whole would either integrate in Ukraine as a land swap with Romania (very unlikely though) or become some kind of a Russian republic. Gagauzia is a different story. Gagauzia was part of Romania and Gagauzes lived very well in that period, speaking their language and practicing their traditions. Even though Gagauzia is still very pro-Russian to this day (ironically since the Russians pretty much assimilated them), I don't think that it would be independent, because they are very small, landlocked, have a lot of exclaves and have no way of sustaining the economy.
basarabia1944 Yeah. But Gagauzia will lose its autonomous republic. And Romania/Moldova will be fprced to give up Transnistria. But after all the things that happened lately, I rather see it independent than become a part of Russia. Ukraine lost one territory to Russian and having a Russian enclave near it is a big insult to the country. Maybe convince Transnistrians to join Ukraine instead.
