- The stock C5 Corvette stereo was good for it's time, but that time was many years ago. In order to add an aux jack input to the C5 Corvette, you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars. The addition of this aux cable adapter is a perfect solution that saves a lot of time and doesn't cost a lot of money.

Man thank you for the hook up.I got that cable for my C5.Hell you save me mad money.Thank bro.And thanks discount stereo.
Glad it helped you and it really is a life saver. Thanks for watching and commenting with your positive feedback.
Best ad-on I’ve ever installed on my C5! The Bose system ROCKS with my iPod!
It really is a life saver. Thanks for watching.
This is what I want. I'm going to share this line on my corvette forum.
Awesome man. Works great and glad it helped.
Hey man this is so sick! Thank you so much. I really wanted to keep my head unit stock. I was going to put in a new head unit with bluetooth (the works), but I felt it would take away from the car and look out of place. Definitely going to do this.
I really liked this aux solution just for that reason. Thanks for watching.
I have the cassette radio in my 98, and they do make cassette styled aux cords and they work great! I also have the stock cd changer in the back.
Yea I remember hooking my discman up to the cassette adapter with the plug in my first car lol.
Got the cable. Works well. Easy, cheap, quick solution. Hope you are getting a commission on each unit sold from your recommendation/site!
Haha I should but I'm sure there weren't that many orders. I know they were sold out for a bit, but they probably didn't have a lot in stock. Glad you liked it, I won't recommend things that I don't like myself.
Thank you!! OMWord!! Been using the FM cigarette lighter fm for the pass 2 yrs. checked trunk… 12 disk CD player was there… I’m the 5th owner purchased it with 16,000 miles. Knew it had upgraded MagFlow… thank you for your channel 🎉🎉
Keep all 4 wheels on the ground 😊
You the man! looks like that will work on my 2000 c5 with stock 12 disk changer. Just what I've been looking for.
Thanks!
Grumpy guy.
Hope the music was more pleasing this time, thought about you haha
Mo Betta! Thanks again. just ordered the adapter.
I knew it had to be a way. Thanks for the video, might have to try this on mine
Happy with it so far. Few guys picked it up and haven't heard anything bad from them.
Very cool and very cheap to give you a quick and easy aux cord and stay stock! Thanks for taking the time to show us all.
No problem and thanks for watching.
So easy. Best $65 I ever spent. Thank you. Saved me $1000
Glad you like it. It was a no brainer when I first came across it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
$89 now. 🤣
Thanks ! I may get the cable. Got the cassette and Bluetooth right now. Tired of the wire in the cassett though and I don’t use the changer anymore in the hatch. Rock on 🤘 bud.
Works great. Thanks for watching.
You’re alive!
A lot of stuff going on the last month so didn't have time for CZcams. Your wrap came out awesome.
Just bought one, easy and don’t want to miss with the radio . Thanks
Definitely helps make the C5 a little more enjoyable to drive, as if it needed something else lol. Happy you like it
YellowVette04 👍🏼👍🏼
My vehicle isn't equipped with the CD Changer so PXDXGM4 ($79.00) works perfectly for me. It's great to press the CD AUX button and Tada auxiliary music! I also Installed a flush mount aux port at the right of the power outlet in the armrest. Absolutely Perfect Install! Thank You! I really appreciate your channel!
Thanks for watching the vids and glad you found then useful. That's where I ended up putting the jack as well. Super clean and hidden. Thanks again.
Pxdxgm4
Thanks so much for your info and the link to purchase the cable.
This will save my life when I buy a C5!
I recommend this and LED headlights when you pick one up. Good luck in your search and thanks for watching.
YellowVette04 What are common issues for these cars?
The HVAC display goes dim, but I have a video for a easy fix for that. Only one I still have is water leaks because of old, ripped weather stripping. Check out Air Force Vette, he put a good video together on common mechanical issues. C5 got better throughout the production of it, so I would look for a later model (mine is 2004). I also decided to find one with relatively low miles, 40k when I bought it. Love the car and no regrets.
YellowVette04 Thanks, man.
Awesome bro!! Gotta do this as I want to keep my stock set up!!
Exactly my thought, won't regret it
Ordered!! 52.06 to the door
When you're wife asks "what did you order now!!" Don't blame it on me haha
YellowVette04 Lol. It’s always something but making the car comfortable to your liking is what it’s all about!!!! Just keep the wife happy too!!!
I knew that was Metallica without reading the disc you put in. Cool mod.
🤘 very distinctive looking CD. Thanks for watching and commenting
Checking replies to see if anyone else caught that .
Excellent presentation, thanks for the info!!! I’ll be looking into this setup. I think it would work with XM stereo app on a tablet.
No problem. Thanks for the support as always.
this was great info...Im going to do this until im ready to do a double din for mine
It's definitely an easy and cheap solution until you decide on the double din.
Thanks for the reply I'm gonna order this for sure
No problem. You'll enjoy it. Not too expensive and simple to install.
YellowVette04
I can hook this to my iPhone and use my Sirius app except it won’t be Bluetooth, correct? just hard wired per se? I was contemplating a $800 deck swap but don’t want to give up my remote disk changer and the stereo shop says there is no way to keep the remote changer and get a Bluetooth deck
Correct. Discount car stereo does have a bluetooth option if you're interested in bluetooth.
Nice made my day 04 convertible
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Very useful. I just ordered one
You'll love it. Easy to connect and install and now you can use your phone.
@@YellowVette04 I also will use my iPod. As much as I want a new he's unit....I may just keep in it the we it is. Bose system still sounds good. I do not like the cassette I'm the dash but maybe I'm the spring I will look into it. Do you know if I get the DIN plug assembly...can I just get a different head unit but keep the Bose system and changer the same? Thanks
THANK YOU!
No problem. Thanks for watching.
Good job !
Thanks for watching. Great upgrade for cheap
I sent my radio out to California and had the jack installed for about $70-80, but while it was out. I found a pioneer din and a half on CL for $60 and ordered the remote from pioneer for $18 and it is a pretty bitchen head unit for the price. It's an 04 head unit so no fancy screen.
Not a bad price to put the aux jack installed on the radio. Can't go wrong either way, just depends if you want to keep it stock looking or not
5:25 MASTER OF PUPPETS!
METALLICA :D
Favorite band 🤘. Thanks for watching
That’s pretty cool
Easy and cheap solution with good quality audio.
Got mine in the mail today!
Their shipping is quick. Any issues let me know but you should be good.
Thanks man!! I didn't get a chance to hook it up today, had to put a bed together and run some errands!! I'll tackle it on Saturday.. You have your aux cable coming into the center console?
Haven't had a chance to finalize the location. Right now everything is tucked under the carpet and it's between the console and passenger seat. Looks like there's a spot inside the armrest, on the passenger side, that would be perfect for a permanent solution. Let me know if you find a different spot.
Hooked it up this morning!! Easy peasy!! I ran the cord under the carpet behind the passenger side just next to the hand brake for now!! Very clean. I may look into running into the middle console later. Thanks again Dave!!
Nice and no problem. I still haven't gotten a chance either. Weather in March is worse than February lol.
Go Double Din. It’s well worth it. I put a new dash cluster and a Kenwood Double Din in my ‘99 Coupe back in May of this year 2020. I couldn’t be any happier with it. I made sure that I didn’t do a hack job and drilled out the original aluminum shelf’s in the dash that hold the factory Receiver and HVAC system so if someone down the road wanted to put it back to original they could. Most people doing this mod just take a Sawzaw in there and hack away those shelf’s . Not me. Got to say it brought the car right up to date with newer cars. Love the Apple Car Play. Spotify and Pandora play great and my iTunes are loaded with music so I didn’t buy a Kenwood with CD. Old tech not needed anymore.
I bought the adaptor also. 2000 Convert. Still has cassette. Use my aux all the time.
Nice. Love the aux capability. Glad you liked it 👍
Thanks👍
I switched to a bluetooth kit after this. Nothing wrong with the aux cord tho.
thank you dave
Thanks for watching and good luck with it.
Now add one of those universal bluetooth dongles and route it some power... really cooking
Genius!
Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Wow men un impres i have a c5 2002 and this video si the modo cool video for mu corvette tanks men
Hope it helps. Thanks for watching 👍
Well, I don't have a cd changer back there.
Hi Dave. Well, now that we're in lock down, what better way to use my time than to catch up on your old uploads before I subscribed. So "for those of you who threw out your CD's 15 years ago?" R U kidding? I still have my cassettes from 40 years ago.😁 You don't have to go in depth with a reply, but is there a way you could do something similar to hook up an MP3 player?
Save the Wave🙋🏼♂️
Haha I'm sure you still have some 8tracks. As long as the media device has as headphone Jack, you can use it with this. That's one reason why some may prefer this over bluetooth, since those devices tend not to have bluetooth. Thanks for spending time with my older uploads PC 👍
8 Tracks? How old do you think I am?🤔 But, yes I do. I also have VHS tapes. The Smithsonian keeps calling me to donate them to the museum. 😉
I got a $20 scosche from Walmart. First one died in a month and sounded like shit. Swapped it out and the new one sounds decent and works well.
Thanks for the knowledge. Ordered it yesterday. Can you clarify where you brought the 2.5mm plug to? In the console?
If you lift the console lid, there's a perfect spot to drill a hole towards the front of the car near the gas door release and 12v outlet. There's a nut on the connector so you can tighten it down and it'll look like it belongs there. Enjoy it and thanks for watching the vid 👍
I loved my corvette..drove it until my bad knee prevented me from getting in/out
Great tip. I like my stock radio and this way I can keep it.
It's a great alternative for sure. It's nice having options to choose from. Thanks for the support 👍
Nice mod, if the cd changer is full will the other cds play or once u add mod you can only use phone or tablet
You still keep the functionality of the changer. If you want to listen to the CDs, just unplug your phone and the music from the changer can be heard. Thanks for watching
Are there any similar fixes for other cars? I have a 98 Camaro that I want to either get somesort of working aux or an infotainment system for.
I'm not sure. You can check the discount car stereo website to see if they have anything for your car and year. www.discountcarstereo.com/
Which model do I select in the website?
I added cable from 12 disc changer on my c5. I was playing IPad and sirius. Now after a min of playing...I get ERR ... I tried different cable to aux and went and unplugged and replaced cable to changer. Still no luck
I received error once and somehow the door to the CD changer opened very slightly. Not sure if something bumped it or what, but the error disappeared after closing the cd changer door.
So I added this cord and it works off and on. I am now getting and message of “Err”. Any idea what may be causing that??
Looks like mine has single CD, no cd changer in the trunk, any idea how to have aux without tearing center dash?
I do not. Removing the center console isn't that bad and only takes 5 mins. I have a vid on that as well. Thanks got watching
Thanks for this! Looking at their website I'm guessing this would work for a 2000 Trans Am? GM1 has TA's in its "fits these vehicles" but it doesn't in GM2 although we have the same 12 disc CD changer. What's your guess?
My guess would be the GM2 will work but you should reach out to them. They've been quick to respond to all my emails, so they should get back to you tomorrow morning. Email support@discountcarstereo.com or use the "Contact Us" tab.
Thanks YellowVette!!! I will do that!
RevLimiter814 no problem. Reply back when you find out, may help someone else wondering the same thing.
YellowVette04 yup this is what you would need if you have a 12 disc CD changer in a 4th gen Trans Am or Camaro. 10 prong. I went out to the car and uncovered it and pulled mine to look just to make sure. We have the same everything. Thanks again for this video, I've wanted to do this with my stock head unit forever but was at a dead end. So pumped!
Awesome man, glad this helped. I was psyched too.
I thought you where going to suggest to drill a hole in the dash for a "secret aux port".
Right now I have the cord run along the passenger side of the console. Had 4 snow storms in the last month so I haven't had a chance to drill a hole in the center armrest where it would be hidden. Didn't want to drill any holes in the dash.
Sweet Jesus thank you!!!
I hate the radio and im buying performance parts and the stereo places want 600-900 for a new deck
This is all i wanted!!! ✊🏾
I know what you mean. Simple, cheap and fast, can't beat it. Glad it helped and thanks for watching.
How did you choose to route the cord so that it did not show?
Under the carpet and padding in the trunk area and the same over the hump into the passenger area. I kept the cord out of the center so no cargo would damage the cable. Then hid the cable under the center console trim. During the video I draw the route that I took. I can't reply with pictures or I would. If you want to PM me on Instagram, I can send you pics. It's an easy task and took less than 5 mins.
It didn't work for my vette. The CD player worked fine before i installed the adaper. but as soon as I connect the adapter, the CD player no longer works
Is there an adapter since I don't have a CD player or any kind of tape auxiliary
You need a CD changer in the rear of the car for this. If you don't, you can follow the link in the description and see if any of their other adapters fit your needs. If you're not sure, shoot them an email, they are very responsive. Thanks for watching.
@@YellowVette04 awesome vid man check out my Camaro if you got a chance. czcams.com/video/3dq6C5yBhe0/video.html
I went to the website where you got the cable but I can't find the one to use without the CD changer, do you have a link to that one?
If you follow the link in the description and scroll down to the "Compatibility and Notes" section, note #2 gives 2 other options if you don't have a CD changer. If you can't decide, shoot em an email, they're quick to respond during working hours.
where can i buy the cord
I use cassettes and CD's and i'm 13. yes I have 2 working cassette players, one with both CD and cassette player.
Do you know if this still works if the changer is no longer functional? Mine stopped working, and I never bothered to try to repair it.
I'm not 100% sure. I would reach out to them to find out. Good luck
Im Curious, does this have a constant pull on the battery. I am concerned this might be draining my battery
I haven't had any issues and it's been a few years now. As long as the CD changer isn't on, then this shouldn't be drawing any power. There's other things that cause parasitic draw on the battery, which causes the battery to die in about 3 weeks. Very common for the C5
C5 z06 (2003) have this simple capability? Don’t know if it has that stock changer in the rear or not
I don't know for sure. Needs the changer for this cable to work. If it doesn't, there's other options.
@@YellowVette04 hello, hope to get your e mail address.
I tried it without putting a CD and the AUX option did not work. Do I have to have a CD in the changer for AUX option to work?
Yes, you need a CD in the changer. Let me know if that works.
Hi! I purchased the cable from discount car stereo and I installed it like you explained in your video. So when I plug their cable to my cd chargeur, it works fine, I can still hear the CD’s music but as soon as I plus the jack cable, the sound becomes extremely low and deformed. I almost have to put to volume to the max to hear something. And when I plug my iPhone, I can hear at the same time both the sound of my iPhone and the cd music. So I asked discount cat stereo for a replacement cable, I received it today but unfortunately the same thing is happening. Do you have any idea what it could be?
Hopefully the owner at DCS will take care of you. He's a Corvette owner, so he gets it.
Did you find out the issue im having the same issue, as well as a beeping sound coming from the radio that gets quieter or louder with the volume
No, never got it solved unfortunately
Sold out..
I saw, looks like they're going to ship new orders after 3/15 so not too long of a wait.
@@YellowVette04 Ok I have a problem with my Vet. they can`t seem to correct it at the dealership maybe you may have some input. I have a problem with the colume lock and I have tried everything two over rides,or by-passes it already had the factory by-pass done.I have also did a rebuild on the BCM and a new fuse panel. We did get it going and got the car back home drove it for awhile hit a few little bumps on the highway and the trouble started all over again. Oh also they only got the car running after they unplugged the amp in when they unplugged it ran and worked fine but the display on the colume was still showing colume lock tire pressure and oil level low oh and wiper fluid low. All the above mentioned were topped off just did a oil change so not getting the correct readings. The only other thing I can think of is a wire job. So if you have any input would love to hear it.Thank you Best regards George
I have the factory rear cd but have the cassette head unit, will this work still?
I don't know for sure but according to the site, it says it'll work with the rear changer. May be worth giving them a call Monday.
I got a response back from Discount Stereo. As long as you have a working rear CD Changer, it'll work.
Gary Baugh you really don't have to do this set up if you have a cassette head unit. Go to Best Buy and ask for a cassette aux cord. They'll know exactly what you're talking about, plus it's MUCH easier and cleaner set up than this.
Did the sound quality improve on those? I had one about 15 years ago and it was pretty bad, but could have been a combination of a lot of things.
YellowVette04 they're much better than they where years ago.
I just dumped the stock radio for a custom with the equalizer under it in the dash and a amp in the back my stereo has the hookups but I use the satellite radio instead the stock radios are jumk the new radio looks better than the stock
Thanks for sharing and watching
@@YellowVette04 actually my vette is yellow but a 01
@@YellowVette04 actually my vette is yellow but a 01
Either mine came defective or this thing sucks. It still plays the song from the CD in the back ground. The song from the phone is just louder. Is that the way it’s supposed to be?
Something is wrong. Try a different aux wire and make sure all connectors are snapped into place. If that doesn't work, email or call them. A few have gotten this and it works fine so hopefully it's something obvious or something they'll make right. Report back how everything goes.
YellowVette04 could it be because I’m using an iPhone?
Shouldn't matter. If someone you know has an android, give it a shot to make sure.
Not sure about it just wanted to let others know. Our filters are likely hyper sensitive.
Dave, does this allow me to use my phone as well?
Yes, you can use your phone as if you were on speaker phone. The caller's voice will go through the speakers and you'll be able to still talk. Still need it kinda close just so they can hear you so not quite like Bluetooth, but you get the idea.
I have the stock CD changer but it does not work... Does that make a difference
I would probably think no. In order for this to work, you need a CD in the changer. This way you can select the changer input on the radio. I don't think you can select the changer input if there's no CD. If you can put a CD in the changer and select the input, it may work. I would shoot them an email and ask. Make sure you describe what's wrong with the changer.
@@YellowVette04 ok thanks
Of course it’s a fucking ad thats was funny.
Haha always happens when you don't want it to. Hate when the ads are back to back 😡 lol. Thanks for watching.
Hi, any ideas for bluetooth? best regards, Mariano from Italy
I'd have to do a search for it again but there were products for Bluetooth. I chose the aux cord for its easy 5 minute install and cheap price. If I remember correctly, the Bluetooth was more money and install was more time consuming. All personal preference. Thanks for watching.
but maybe you can add the bluetooth to the aux... I have an home theater at home and I be added the bluetooth to the aux of the stereo.
That's not a bad idea. I just did a quick search and found a bunch of adapters that are cheap. Maybe I'll try one to see how it impacts sound quality.
How long is that cable?
12'. If you pick one up make sure you select the remote CD changer location. It'll run all the way from the changer to the console.
Please send me the info or name of the cord.
Link is in the description.
Where can i buy the connector ?
There's a link in the description, but here it is www.discountcarstereo.com/AUX-GM2.html
Mine says error and doesn’t show track 2 like yours
Make sure the CD is inserted the right way. Sounds like it's an issue with that rather than the cable, but I could be wrong.
I get a malware warning on my work computer for the Discount Stereo link.
That's weird bc others have used the same link. See if you have any issue if you go on their site and search for aux-gm2.
YellowVette04 can I keep my remote disk and use it also?
With this aux cord you do keep the use of the CD changer. I show all the different inputs at about 4:25. CD changer, aux input, cd player in dash and radio.
damn I don't have a CD changer
where is the link
In the description under the video. Any problems, just let me know. Thanks for watching
your subscribe button on subscribe only in your detail note is hacked and takes y to a stupid sight
Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into it. The link should be generated by CZcams so that's weird.
@@YellowVette04 let me know if you get it fixed I'm curious about that, I see other sites being hacked too. Keep up the good work on the vetts.
It doesn't charge the phone nor I pad
Nope, it's just an aux jack.
You never said the name of the cable so we could look it up
During the intro I said there's a link in the description...
