    It's a shame that such a phenomenal-looking show should be so fictitious. As a passionate historian, I find and firmly believe that what actually happened is interesting enough without having to make up stuff that didn't.
    The woman Suhad did not exist at all.
    Tutankhamun did not fight the Mitanni, but rather restored good relations with them after they had been damaged during the reign of his father, Amenhotep IV/Akhenaten.
    He had a clubbed foot and scoliosis and so never fought in battle, though he did lead successful campaigns.
    And the Priest Amun would have loved him for restoring the polytheistic priesthood, which had been abolished under Tut's father, Amenhotep/Akhenaten.
    And finally, he most likely died of malaria, not, umm, fatigue.
    I would love to see an Ancient Egyptian movie/mini series that gives us a good show while doing history justice.

    I am both happy this exists and disappointed with some of the choices in the plot and hair as well as makeup choices. Also I did hate how they made it seem like Tutankhamen and Anke didn’t really have an intimate relationship. In reality they loved each other Very much romantically. It was even depicted in some of the artifacts and such left behind after his death. That actually made me angry that they downplayed that. Tut is my favorite Pharaoh and so it bothers me even more and I am a perfectionist to the max. It would have added to the plot if they had stayed true to that detail I am almost completely certain of that. It’s no wonder why this caused a bit of controversy.

    • @Gnammyna
      @Gnammyna Před 4 lety +3

      I think they didn’t show the romantic side of their relationship because it was actually incest, so maybe they were afraid of censorship. That is why they put the fictional (and terrible imho) carachter of Suhad in the screenplay, to show some love affair.
      I agree with you and I would have preferred a more accurate and passionate development of Tut and Ankhe’s story. It’s history, after all. If they didn’t want to face an incest, maybe they should have chosen Ramses and Nefertari 😬

    • @hodarinundu
      @hodarinundu Před rokem +2

      Honestly tho, do we know for certain that they loved each other romantically? Of course they would depict it that way on the artifacts. They were SUPPOSED to be a loving and complimenting couple, that's what was expected of them. That's the role they were supposed to play before people and before the gods. But whether they actually loved each other romantically is anyone's guess. They probably didn´t have much of a choice regarding most aspects of their lives.

    Wow they actually put tut in a lesser tomb and thought no one will remember him when I watch this A van through his eyes I really saw how tut was living in palace and how he was treated like crap and like a puppet in his own kingdom sahud was the only person understanding him and love him but now everyone is talking about the boy king tut he was really young now I know any historical drama they danger is not at war the war is in the palace where evil minds seize to take the throne I was really heartb roken that t sahud died and there baby wicked sister.akhane and ay I know.I couldn't trust him for episode 1 he not only died of his injuries but a broken heart sorry he didn't have kids but they would manipulate his kids too like him when young I really like avan a acting in the tut and Alexander wow to ppl from (Twisted )you guys should wAtch it this is what happens he pick lacey over Jo

    So historically inaccurate. Tut would’ve never physically been able to do any of things depicted in the series due to his genetic deformities. Great acting though.

    • @hodarinundu
      @hodarinundu Před rokem

      His physical disability has been very much exaggerated.

  • @alessandrogualtieri7198

    This is just crap, like it or not. The series producers should have come up with something a bit more credible and true to what has been discovered about the boy king so far. The latter’s wife, for instance, desperately tried to marry a Hittites prince when Tut died, trying to avoid the inevitable oblivion (and possible murder) by the hand of Vizier Ay.
    All in all, in this miniseries Egypt is depicted as some century-old Theme park (quite a cheap one for sure), where pharaohs wear sneakers with thick rubber soles (especially when jumping from high ramparts), are already familiar with the term “quarantine” and their wives are extremely fond of glittering nail polish! Not to mention some ridiculous hieroglyphs which not only make no sense at all, and Ben Kingsley’s thick cotton sock with sandals.
    Why didn’t they browse AT LEAST one real history book about ancient Egypt? Why spoiling the whole show with some ridiculous and very cheap B-movie like moviemaking? They might have given Tut a Casio G-Shock watch as well, to be worn along with his outrageously stupid jewelry and garments!

    • @hodarinundu
      @hodarinundu Před rokem +1

      C´mon. The show was fiction, but if you compare it to most of the movies that have been filmed about ancient Egypt, it was actually quite well researched. There's little details here and there that are worthy of much credit. Notice how no one except Tut and Ankhe wear the ureus (cobra); in real life only the king and queen could wear it, but in much of ancient Egyptian inspired media, EVERYONE seems to wear it. Tut correctly wears the blue crown when going to war. He uses the curved sword and the daggers resembling the ones actually found with his treasure. The gods' names are correctly applied to their functions in the Egyptian pantheon, and other than the characters that were made up (such as Suhad and Lagus), most of the characters (even relatively minor ones like Nakht) actually did exist. And honestly, characters like Suhad or Lagus probably did exist and we just don´t know about them because at the end of the day it's the pharaohs that get remembered.
      Other things such as the colorful painted temples and palaces are also an improvement over many movies and shows that show everything sand-colored as it is today.
      Whatever your opinion on the show, it was obviously made by someone who loves ancient Egypt. Artistic licenses? Yes. But better than your average show set in that epoch.
