After a long day on Venice Beach I took my shoes off and I went to Venice Beach break water and walk through the water it is right there where I got my first job on Venice Beach selling ice cream and sodas right on the beach that was about 30 years ago It felt like yesterday and a lot of stories popped into my head when I first came to America

I haven't been back in 9 years, back when I was 12 years old in 2012, but I just got accepted to UCLA's Aerospace Engineering PhD so I'm stoked! This year might finally be my excuse to go back! And not just to visit, but to stay!

I worked with a Chinese guy. He would say in China you could work hard a week and have nothing. Not even rice. In the US you work a week and have a home food and can buy shoes. God bless America.

I got a story from Iowa. Late 1940s and early 50s. My mom left a little town outside of des Moines and took I bus to Venice California . She got a job at Douglas aircraft where Marilyn worked before she was really a star. In the daytime she weight trained on the beach , and swan. At 3p.m.went to work. She meet a body builder on the beach who was actually from des Moines. They got married and opened up the very first health club in Iowa. To this day I weight train. Love me it.

I grew up a couple miles up the beach from Venice, across the marina jetty in Playa del Rey in the 60s-70s. It was a calmer more quiet beach. As I became a teen, wanting to get our own pad, we all headed to Venice to live because believe it or not, it was cheaper! Plus it was waaay more exciting stuff going down at Venice beach! I left LA years ago but I do love watching what's going down there now! Thank you

Mike i grew up in California and seeing this brings back many good memories.
The city should consider housing and employing those willing to do cleanup of the beaches and parks nationwide.
