Very good Jeffrey. Provided a condensed view which books don't do. The future generations need more people like you. Keep up the good work!

Jeffrey Chasnov, I wish I would've had you as a teacher when I was 20. That said, I feel that there is something wrong here. When you say the differential operator is dotted , one would think this is a dotted product. Yet, I have enjoyed your prior 19 videos and have understood that a dotted product is a product-a particular type of multiplication-. However, as you repeat several times, we are deriving the derivative here (second derivative or second differential); so we are operating but not with a product operation. Then, since you keep saying "square", when there is a second derivative, that gets me all confused. Please, Jeffrey, let me know whether I have lost the right mathematical path or this was just a bit of a slight poor choice of language. Whatever it is , thanks for your videos . You are one of the best teachers hands down and you are helping me to regain my love for math. All the best - David-

We use the dot product and cross product notation with differential operators. The definitions are similar to that for vectors, but it cannot be exactly the same because these are operators and not vectors. As long as you know what it means, everyone makes use of this notation.

BTW, I think the course would be a better overall experience on Coursera, rather than CZcams. It's free as an auditor on Coursera, also.
