    Now try it with a 300 dollar St Croix…and watch it snap. I used fiberglass rods when i was a kid and they caught fish just fine. Graphite brings some sensitivity to the table but for me they’re not worth it as ive usually got a trigger finger on the line anyway. The original ugly stick …before the gx2 was a superior rod IMO. I now use Eagle Claw feather lights and could t be happier. Wuppin stick is good…they seem to be made the same as the old ugly sticks and work good for Salmon.

    Eagle Claw makes a decent entry level Kokanee rod

    I can't believe either one of those rods survived above 5 lbs, honestly. I'm not rod snob (always use cheap gear), but the Whuppin Stick is like $29. Impressive performance with heavy weight.

    I have some Eagle Claw powerlite rods and for a cheaper rod the quality is very good and sensitivity is very good.

    I was worried those rods were going to snap back and hit your face.. I've had a whuppn stick from many years ago and never let me down.

      Me too! I was trying to stay to the side of the rods a little bit.i think they changed the whuppn stick recently.im sure it would stand up to any normal fishing situation.

    It Did okay for dead weight. The whipping stick. If your Fishing and your pole bends that much, you don't have the right Pole for what you going after.
    The eagle claw made it but look how much it bent over, in the real world you wouldn't want that. That tells you, you need a beefier rod for that fish.

    • @TapiaOutdoors
      @TapiaOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      Both of these did very good.they would hold up to any normal fishing situation for sure.

      @@TapiaOutdoors The reason I found your videos. BecauseI was at Bass Pro shop here in Metro Atlanta. And I saw the whipping stick 7 ft heavy rated for 50 lb. And I liked the way the tip moved for a heavy rod. My other 7 ft is basically a pool stick that's how stiff it is. But you got to use something like that for big tarping down in the keys. Every pole has its place.

      @@Prone-Ski_BX yes we need the same thing here on the west coast for sturgeon ,a heavy rod with a sensitive tip to detect the bite

    Clearly he’s returning those rods since he kept the tags for demo. Someone customer will get that rod if he fks it up.
