- Even the broadcast motorcycle struggled to keep up with Tom Pidcock when he was descending.

I love the part where he was too fast for the motorcycle
He was also too fast for the camera. 🤣🤣🤣
It's poor translation of camera motorcycle was not permitted to pass _any_ cyclists.
The camera is assigned a group, if anyone gets well ahead he'd pass to follow them, on the producers instructions.
These guys ride 5 hours daily with a camera behind them, they'd outrun any cyclist easily.
And another otherwise cool video ruined by a misleading title.
Steroids is a hell of drug😂
I like the part of the video where the motorcycle has zero issues keeping up
Apart from when he goes round the other rider on the outside of a corner and leaves the cambike behind, yeah?
@isthatujeebus he is still right there with the rider. Video title implies the biker out preforms the motorcycle which is false. They are not allowed to pass the other bikers. Motorcycle is 100% keeping up
@isthatujeebus so the title should read "slower cyclist holds up camera bike"
I like the part where the motorcycle is never more than 10 feet behind the entire time...solid title
Apart from when he goes round the other rider on the outside of a corner and leaves the cambike behind, yeah?
@@isthatujeebus at the very end of the clip sure. But that's because the motorcycle isn't allowed to pass bikers there so of course he was going to get away at that point. The implication of the title is that he was just too dang fast for the motorcycle to keep up when it was on him the entire time until it had to keep back by rule for safety
When he passes the Arkea rider, he wobbles a little bit, showing how close to the limit he is going.
Moa
but he’s is so much more control even though he’s going faster
the wobble is to gain speed without pedaling. CZcams is so full of people that comment on shit they have no experience with
@@RefrigeratedTP yeah so You.... this is noch bmx Park where CZcams garniert speed witzig the wooble. If CZcams compare this with motocycle races this is the exakt point where the Limit is
Yeah he's actually pumping to get more speed 🤣🤣 that's not wobbling
We're did he lose the motorcycle?
Cycling up those hills is an intense challenge. Downhilling is a combination of courage , death wish , and insanity . ✌️ps I admire their cajones . I couldn't do it .
I have a friend who, years ago, rode the Giro d'Italia with 7-11. He said that descending in the Alps was much more exhausting than climbing them.
@@robslater5528 Well done him - and I mean that .
I don't know if you are in the UK but ' just one thing ' Dr Michael Mosley did an alien about eccentric exercise . So they gave a training regime to a group who had to go up the stairs in a talk building ,band come down in a lift . Then they reversed it and got people to go up in the lift and then come down the stairs . Counter intuitively it was the ' descending the stairs group ' who had improved their fitness .
I do a lot of walking on the Downs . I always felt that the downhills had little training effects compared to the uphills . The fact that the downhills also have a training effects is heartening !
With the downhill cycling I do respect their fearlessness , and if they are fearful then even more respect to them . ✌️
It’s incredibly technical with consequences.
Cajones = Drawers
Cojones = Balls
*cojones
I’ve done about 40 mph on a descent (on a bike) and it was f-ing terrifying. No telling how fast he’s going in this video.
Plus, this is pretty sharp cornering. That's the real problem, not the straight lines
How was that terrifying? It's freedom, and a pretty medium speed... 🤷🏻♂️
I would be sick with fear.
@@SgtMclupus I guess when we mere mortals do it for the first time, we get worried that our wheels haven’t been balanced for that speed or that it would be a bad time to get a flat. Have you ever had a tire blow on a ride? I have. Cyclists die from accidents just like these. So yeah, I was a little nervous.
Professionals like this can reach speeds of 70mph+ going downhill (obviously not cornering). There was recent debate about the use of disc brakes and if it would be safe for the riders to use considering it would enable them to go downhill even quicker.
Takes some skill and nerves of steel❤
As a motorcyclist & have ridden that route, he terrifies the hell out of me!
Bicycles are lighter and better downhill than motorcycles
Sean Yates was considered one of the best descenders in the peleton back in the day, to the point where people thought he was insane. I gotta wonder how Pidcock would compare, considering he looks about half Seans weight.
Savoldelli was the best though
Peloton.
I remember from the 90's, Marco Pantani and Miguel Indurain
Still a thing of beauty
As someone who knows what they’re doing on a descent and who almost everyone I’ve ridden with can’t keep up with… This is absolutely absurd to watch and never in 1000 years would I try cornering that hard of a descent like this especially with the drop to the right of him, Pidcock is truly something special.
We all know the cameraman never dies.
So I assume the cameraman is on a motorcycle?
Yes
A joy to watch and he's not bad at cycle- cross either, usually coming from a long way back.
Amazing athletes
someday the whole video of this descent is gonna come out (this is only the top part, they cut away shortly after this until he caught the break, which had been 2min30 up the road).
What a technical genius, what a bike rider.....10/10
holy cow. I'd have my hands on the brakes all the way down
Downhill skateboarding, even going faster than that, is still not as dangerous. Every inch of elevation matters and being tangled in the bike could lead to crippling injuries. Thats besides he’s not even got on jeans. Mad respect.
Most leeds lads decend like this 👍
Yeah he really left the bike for dead 😂
The overtaking was impressive
He's a beast.
classic fail of trainee writing the topping
Pure fearless desending class
I'll take a no thank you portion on this!! Balls of steel!!
why do you think he goes that fast? added weight from his balls.
I like the part where the title is clickbait
Tom the rider .🚲
That takes balls of steel to bomb down such a steep and twisty road.
Watched this live, amazing run
I was driving the motorcycle that was keeping up with him.
It only takes a pebble
Imagine being the moto cameraman on a descent like this following Pidcock..😲
Pure trust in your driver. Dang.
How was he too fast?
You'll notice the camera operator can't centre him properly. The operator had to focus on their driving more than camera-work as Pidcock's absolutely bulleting down.
anyone turning their head for wanting to see what is ahead and bending on their chair left and right??? 😉
This eas one of the best stages last year. Such athletes and entertainment.
If you really want to see a rider being too fast for a motorbike you should upload the descent of Mohoric in the volta cominitat valenciana (video idea)
Incredible athlete
If your legs are slow, better have big balls
The Jorge Lorenzo of cycling. Por fuera. Amazing.
Pidcock is a descent disciple extrordiaire!!🤯
I'd do the tour de France if I could just get shuttled to the top and only do the downhill stages 😂
Down hill with a tail wind. That's the dream. What's the longest hill you've descended? Mine is 7 miles?, from Hartside Pass towards Appleby, in the UK.
35km in the Pyrenees
30 km passo Spluga in the Italian Alps
They kept up just fine.
What you meant to say was "broadcast motorcycle rider was blocked by a slower cyclist". 🙄
00:29 that green fence looks nasty, you wouldn't want to skid into that.
Wow. That motorcycle didn’t have a chance huh?!
No he was not. This is a myth. A motorcycle even with a cameraman at the back will smoke a cyclist on a mountain downhill pass
Yeah all that happened was that the motorcycle dropped back a bit at the end because it didn't want to overtake the slower cyclist mid corner and risk an accident.
Far wider tires on the motorcycle make a HUGE difference in total actual grip. However, that pro cyclist has some phenomenal high-speed downhill experience.
Love these accents!!!❤
I never get tired of watching this.
Great to hear Sean Kelly.
The best there is at this
This is steaming, and I used to think letting loose down the mountains as the limit.
Nerves of steel
Wouldn't mind watching a MotoGP rider give this a go... Knee and elbow down anyone?😅
You can’t get that low without the engine lol.
Right but Moto GP is on mostly flat tracks with modest rises / descents not massive lengthy grades.
Definitely the "crotch rocket" guys in the mountains do that.
I'm an ADV rider so I'd be chillin conservatively just like those "camera bikes" taking these shots.
The commentators want the phone number from TP, maybe more 😂
Lui è un grande in discesa ed in salita
I always hear the formula 1 edit (Charles lerclerc) 😂
Mad but Marvellous...
Hinault and Le Mond in 1986 also
the new pride of Britain
Two words... droper post.
This is what it was made for
I prefer to be able going fast uphill any time over being confident to survive a horrible crash downhill. 😂
The problem for cyclists is that you have to be both if you want to winn a mountain stage like this.
During a mountain stage in a grand tour you can go over 3,4 or even 5 climbs. If you drop a minute or two on every decent you won't achieve anything.
@@MotRi1986 Why do you think racing has any value to me ?
The guy has balls and skills
Interesting how he tilts his head to the outside of the curve.
Good observation. I didn't notice that.
Its to keep more pressure on the road
That’s a man who’s ridden motorcycles
Nah, he's a mtb and cyclocross world champion. Riding motorcycles does nothing for cycling. A 6.8 kg bike on 28mm tires handles completely different. On a bicycle you have nothing to protect you, besides a flimsy 200g helmet. 100 km/h with your bare ass in lycra feels very different, i know what i'm talking about...
Pidders here and the Col du Granon stage!
That outside pass is epic!!!
I hope the moto rider did NOT overtake 'inside' 🤨 that slower rider!!!!!!!!!
That looks SCARY
little gain on descents, most time made on climbs.
Thumbs down for clickbait title.
he should compete in downhill-only events
ballsy af
Tom Pidcock is a former BMXer and still rides Cross . . Bellends !
I’ve done this on my brompton.
Best in the business.
just textbook cornering skills
Man goes quicker because he probably lacks the fear gene
How to be fast in any racing: use all of the course
when they going so fast commentary sounds like motorsport
Under his jersey there was VR46
Beautiful
35 seconds in 4K....when Vingegard did something similar in the TT in last years tour it was put down to drugs?!
Yet here it's beautiful!?
It makes you wonder
One can rarely see road side rails in the Alps both in France and Switzerland. It is quite a driving experience when you know you don’t want to press your luck.
The fastest I went on a roadbike was 55 kph and that was a straight line downhill and it was terrifying. And to think that's just a decent pace for a flat section for these guys.
It is not a good form of descending. It's not a safe way to descend. It shouldn't be promoted or praised.
Motorcycle rider would be my guess.
blatant lie in the title
Most road cyclists have piss poor descending skills. Great to see one who has skills worthy of a professional, but the rest of the peloton should feel ashamed to be so outclassed.
O mlk deita muito
Crossed up
The title which says the truth was too slow to keep up with the creativity of the uploader.
Sublime ❤
Too fast for me buddy! 😅
A cyclist once overtook me on a decent, I was cruising on my motorcycle at 90kmh. Guess he was going between 95-100.. ofc I just let him go. Don't wanna make it more dangerous than it already was on a public road
The fastest I ever got was about 80km/h and it was terrifying. Any tiny bump in the road will send you flying at that speed. Still on the first straight a car overtook me even though the speed limit was 70. Most drivers are seemingly allergic to being slower than a bike, even just for a second. Thank you for having more sense.
@@JK-qi7pp yea my friends also laughed at me. Imagine overtaking him but then having him tailgating you. Gotta be scary
How exactly is someone riding a pedal bike doing 95 "dangerous" and you riding a motor bike doing the same speeds, or more, fine?
@@hughjanus7354 something with a full leather racing suit and crash protectors and a full face helmet versus skin tight shorts and a shirt, no crash pads and barely a helmet. Also my tires and brakes are made for speeds up to 250kmh.. a bicycle isn't engineered like that. Really hope you're kidding with that question though
@@walliwabbel you're as exposed on your bike as a cyclist, except you have a bit more skin protection, i.e. won't get as scuffed. As for tyres and brakes rated for speeds up to 250kph, that's an interesting, but totally random and unrelated to the situation fact. Thanks for sharing, I guess.
Pidcock corners like GP500 👍
Eyes closed too!
They eat more than Eddie Hall
With a motor okay. On those thin tyres, no fking way😅
unreal stuff
