'Top Speed Germany' is a German CZcams channel for people who love cars.
My Name is Max and I film while driving cars. No matter if they are old, fast, loud or electric. They need to be special! With several onboard cams, I record everything important to show you High-Speed-Runs, Acceleration tests ( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ) and test drives on German Autobahn or Road. Please note, Germany is the country of "no speed limit" highways. So in some places, it's allowed to drive very fast. But please don't try this if you are not an experienced driver !! If you enjoy give a like and subscribe for more videos ;-) .

1.2 Turbo Nissan Qashqai: pushing 200km/h as well
I respect these old 5 cylinder Volvos, I like them, but it's just unfair to shame the Qashqai.
There are some regulations, which car companies need to obey to. That's why they use the 1.2T engine, but it still does a great job, and pushes 116 HP, which is really enough, even on the highway, even for high speeds.
Lot of people say, that these new engines won't last 3-4-500.000Kms. Maybe they're right, but let's wait 'til then, before saying that it won't exist.

Hee hee! Yes, I love an old Volvo that can show the rest that it still has 'it'! My last Volvo, a mere 122ps DIESEL 940 estate ffs, would do a leisurely 115mph/185kmh even at 20 years old and 252K miles/?400-ish km on the clock (I once covered 400 miles/640km in just over 4 hours, on an unusually quiet motorway, in this old fella, average just under 100mph/160kmh). My current diesel V70, a young one at 14 years old, with a barely-run-in 140K on the clock, will easily do 130-140mph/220-ish kmh with only a first stage, mild ECU boost to about 200ps (from 163, although the 185 engine is otherwise identical, and the same block produces more like 215 in the later, chunkier V70s). I would have no doubts about flying down a - legally, of course - motorway/autobahn at 100mph/160kmh all day. But I am impressed with your petrol, mere 140ps motor! Clearly not a 'charger', but willing to rev, and obviously happy to remain at that speed without anything dropping off, like some competitors' cars would do at this age and km. The steering wheel is almost unnervingly steady, not a flutter. Well done matey!

They just humm along at 115 mph fully loaded up and want you to some more but with the wife and four kids on board.....probably better left that way. My speedo went to 140 mph and sometimes you felt like you could do it no problem. They were so slippery, Those V70's sing at speed. I had a 240 waggon 4 kids (downhill admittedly) burn off a nitty in a MR2 maxing out at 118 mph. The kids still talk about it, although they're al adults now, but only because you were on the edge of control. No shit like that on a V70.

I had Mazda 323 1,6i, steering was loose in the middle area. I drove 160 km/h in Finland long straight road almost no wind, about 1998. still did feel a little scary. We had a Volvo 242 (1972, motor 1980) about 1980-1987. It was noisy high speed and it felt like a train going 120 km/h when father drove it.

I believe 124mph was advertised max for the 140ho 2.5. The 10v head really restricted them at the top end ( peak power is at 5100rpm ) compared to the 20v head. Its plainly not lost much power after 490k kms tho !

I've a '99 same model and I'd regularly have to drive a round trip of over 450 miles in a day with four kids, wife and luggage and I'd do it in ridiculous times. Leaving early morning and returning late at night you could easily do 200 miles in 1 hr 50 mins and not even notice that you were driving fast. This is 20 years ago and that's the reason I've still got it. They are probably the best of the best and I've owned lots of Volvos. Only problem is as you get older it's like getting into a sports car b'caus they're so low. They are truly sublime as a driver or passenger.
