The companies rely on the fact that it’s so widely used it can never be traced back to them. Cancer is associated with flame retardants, pesticides, polyester, cleaning chemicals, and plastic- who is NOT exposed to any of those? Yet even for the things which are already accused of being unhealthy, they’ll never be reconsidered from the shelves, and people who avoid them will be endlessly mocked by family and shamed by acquaintances for being “impossibly strict”. If you are skeptical of anything on the store shelves or in the doctor’s office, you’re labeled a freak for not trusting everything being sold blindly. That’s what these companies rely on- anyone questioning them might lead to accountability. They don’t care if it kills you, as long as they’re never caught!

I am a dad of a 7 year old boy that was kidnapped to South Korea.
Korea is a partner country of "Hague convention" that is supposed to promptly return children that were illegally taken across the border.
FBI was trying to book a flight to Korea to rescue the child. However, Korean government stopped them saying this is a civil matter and because it is not criminal in Korea, the dad should go through civil court. (Especially because Korea is a signatory state of Hague convention)
I did. Korea took 2 years to make a final decision that this boy has to PROMPTLY return to the US. But they didn't prepare an enforcement mechanism. I got a total of 10 court orders just in Korea(including the Korean Supreme court order). And my son Bryan's 3 week trip became a 5 year separation from me.
I talked to multiple Korean officials and although they admit the problem, nobody is taking responsibility.
They ask the child who doesn't even remember dad "Do you wanna stay here, or do you wanna go to Dad?" And if he says he wants to stay, they go home.
They say it's too late. "He doesn't remember you, so what do you want us to do?"
Korea calls this respecting the child.
On the other hand US court orders clearly states that the mother has serious concerns of mental issues and she is a threat to the child. The patenting evaluator said this is a form of child abuse.
Korea ignores this problem. They just say we can't do anything.
I love Korea and I wanted to trust that they can respect the law, but I am at a point that I have to take this into my own hands and raise public awareness. Last time I protested at Pike Place Market, and this time I went to Korean Consulate in Seattle.
    [Watch Video](czcams.com/video/4wXAvR_J6RI/video.htmlsi=gY5cZd-HM1ycaGdg)
I would appreciate it if you can spread the words, and tell people.
If we can't bring Bryan back, no children will be safe from being abducted to South Korea.
    Thank you.

      Heartbreaking. Absolute travesty of injustice.😢
We, the people will have to fight these types of things if we want to stay civilized societies.
There shouldn't be such a disparity of wealth, first of all, because the wealthy fear nothing, and have too much power. Every small voice should matter. It's getting worse and worse, if you are the common person, you are easily treated inhumanely. They don't bother to listen to us or honor our rights. We will all have to truly unite, and stop letting politicians divide us for power. And we have got to realize that it's still the truth, 'United we stand, divided we fall.' This was the air humidifier case right? It was because the actual company item was a air disinfectant. Logically speaking that would be the last thing you suspect even causing you any sort of problem.
Think about it. The amount of things in general you touch at a given time during the day, the air you share with people, coughing, sneezing, elevators, enclosed spaces, the people who may not even show symptoms at all, the asymptomatic carriers, elderly it’s insane the amount of ways someone can get sick. Typically Your not infected until you show symptoms but you know that everyone’s different and I know personally that between my kids and myself were this sensitive body type who gets some odd reactions to virus like a strep rash but not strep throat.
Thousands of people didn’t think that this was the cause.
But if I recall correctly, there was one chemical or perhaps maybe two, or some lilac scent that was the likely cause. Can’t recall if they narrowed it down to the specific chemical doing this.
South Korea made a film about this tragedy, oh my god. Sk films are amazing but any film involving children and babies, I mean I’ve seen Silenced and parts of Hope, so watching that movies going to rip my heart out 100 times over and over again.

1.5K? That's nothing. Let's fill up the comments here with talk about covid. DJT played it down and let a million people die, and he's still a hero. The people who thinks it's his supporters that helped spread the disease everywhere. The people who thinks China is responsible. The people who thinks covid doesn't actually kill anybody, it's the vaccines and lockdowns that cause all the problem. And frequently, these two last groups are the very same people ... which is a bit weird when you think about it.

I would say that this is due to eastern cultures putting a lot into personal responsibility. Your families honor is in your hands to fuck up. While, up to a point this can be seen as honorable there comes a time when a line needs to be drawn and you need to be able to see that it was not your fault as you would had NO reasonable way to have the information that you needed to effectively make an informed decision. If this is the case then the leaders and companies in those places know this and take advantage of it. It's horrible and manipulating and just sad. Sadly for DECADES J&J Baby Powder talc had arsenic AND asbestos in it, and THEY KNEW IT! How many people got cancers or breathing problems from just that one example..and there's SO MANY MORE. I was a 9/11 rescue worker and us and the clean up guys were NEVER TOLD the air was FULL of asbestos!! The EPA knew and George Bush Jr asked them to tell people the air was safe, cuz you gotta get "Wal street" and "Mainstreet" going again. I was there for a few days and have asthma and about 20 autoimmune diseases...more people have died from the Asbestos now then the actual attack killed, and that's KNOWN data! The clean up guys to first responders like firemen, paramedics, nurses, etc and police who survived were told the levels were safe even though the EPA was getting readings of 120,000x the recommended safety limit, but we're never told. There were over 400,000 people who helped out at ground Zero...I wonder how many ACTUAL deaths there are. It's a disgusting world.. Subway got caught a couple years ago putting RUBBER into their sub buns!! As long as someone is making $$$ we don't matter!!

When handling these chemicals, especially chemicals for industrial use, it is important to share the safety data sheet with the full information of its toxicity (if inhaled, consumed via the mouth etc) and it confuses me how Oxy was able to say, they were not informed by the korean company. and how was Oxy able to make a new product without studying the sds? the researchers involved, who accepted the bribe, are heartless. the fact that they know the effect of the product and still took the money... Idk about that but I know most hair products aren’t given safety validation when it comes to hair treatments. For example hair bleachers and dyes have warnings that it’s not FDA approved and that you are to avoid getting anywhere near open wounds and wombs. There are also shampoos that tells you to avoid getting in your eyes mouth or nose.
We need to be careful with all chemicals as is because you never know what is going to cause major side effects to your body.
Consumable products are mostly fda regulated. Chemicals are CDC regulated to approve whether they can be used for application of skin, hair, etc.
I do know hair relaxer is a highly strong chemical to begin with so it might cause skin to negatively react. Also hair can also negatively react to the chemical. It all depends on the person.

This reminds me of when I bought multiple Korean skin care products delivered well-known Korean beauty/skincare brands. But when I got it, there were labels that said it's not FDA approved. I assumed that meant the Korean product is not approved by the US FDA yet. So I did look into the product and find out why I see this label and turns out there was a new ingredient in the product that the US skincare industry are not accustomed to yet and the FDA was still testing it. This was back in 2015 and the ingredient in question was Niacinamide. Now in 2023, a ton of US skincare products have Niacinamide in them now. But I see that most US products are very low at around 1-2% but some Korean products have them at 5-10%. Honestly, I was quick and excited to use any Korean skincare product back when I was a young college student, and I feel like I would never look into international safety standards if it wasn't for that label. However, I understand why the US have a ton of warning labels and are hesitant to put too high of a concentration in their products because the US does have a suing culture, which I'm not sure Korea has.

    • @grizzlygrizzle
      @grizzlygrizzle Před 8 měsíci +3

I think however, that Stephanie spent FAR too much time describing the emotional states and social aspects of all the people involved, instead of GETTING ON WITH THE STORY. A few samples of the emotional impact would have been plenty for this presentation, but at the 20 minute mark, it seems like more than half of the video so far, and I'm debating whether or not I have the patience to continue. In human history, people with a pathological focus on feelings and social relations, massively more than on practical, technical, and physical realities, are the ones who panic in disasters and mess up rescue efforts, are the ones who sow resentment and division and ruin social cohesiveness, and who generally do parasitic and self-centered harm to society. This is why my patience for this presentation wears thin.
-- Parental love for their children is ubiquitous, and the vast majority of doctors care very much for their patients. And it's not hard to raise outrage against corporate greed that results in injury or death among consumers. When your whole story is about emotions and social relations, your life is going to be disempowered and fruitless. People who solve problems like this are people who, whatever their emotional investment, wrestle with finding fruitful questions, gather data, analyze, and find answers. For people who want to live in a world that's primarily a world of emotions and social relations, hire a therapist, and do it on your own time. There's a time for venting, and there's a time for getting things done.
-- I worked in mental health for more than a decade, and pretty much without exception, my clients did better than the average among similarly-situated clients. Some made spectacular and noteworthy gains. It's not like I have no sensitivity to emotional and social issues.
-- And by the way, for anyone dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, and other negative emotions, pain expands to fill the attention devoted to it. Excessive emotional self-indulgence is detrimental to one's own mental health, as well as burdensome for other people around you. It's no way to go through life.

My mom is in her 60s (korean), for some reason, since we were kids to this day, she refuses to use detergents for dishes or laundry. She likes to use some kind of natural concoction instead and has a real phobia of household cleaning products. She says they are cancerous or poisonous and will shave years off your life. 😬

I cleaned houses for 23 years. I used cleaners for the shower. Years of headaches and illness, I just thought it was my bad sinus and allergies. Then I started getting nose bleeds. I pray God please help me get better, this is weird, I don't know what's going on, help me? I went to work, climbed into the shower to clean and scrub it and got the worse nosebleed yet.
I stopped using that particular product. But several years later I developed meningitis, afterwards I suffered a severe form of epilepsy, Do I think the cleaners caused it? Maybe yes. But I live out in the country with farm fields all around me. So, it could be Monsanto too. There is also an oil well behind my house, so it could be argued it's the Round-up or the Sevin, right?
I am a single mom who had to go on disability due to these issues, so no $ to hire a lawyer....I don't want to scare anyone, but cleaners are risk, and so is everything else in our modern-day society..

I’m cleaning my humidifier today. The old fashioned way. I admit that I am somewhat lazy about cleaning mine. I don’t use it all of the time because we have plenty of moisture in our air most of the time in Seattle but there are times during the winter when we don’t get any rain and it’s cold and dry. I have dry skin and working from home, I find my skin feels better when I use my humidifier while I work. I also don’t get shocked when I touch things. I’m not getting any younger and drinking plenty of water and using a humidifier really helps my skin.
This is frightening. My heart goes out to these people. I can’t imagine losing a child. The poor woman who carried her children to term only to have them pass away right after birth made me cry.

If my significant other was sick and I bought a humidifier cleaner for her that caused anything to happen to her, I would probably blame myself too. Why did I buy this product? Why couldn't I have just cleaned it the old fashion way? You just can't help it and so many thoughts would just run through your mind.

The company just put those ingredients into a bottle and didn't even THINK to test them to see if it would be safe to but them on the selves for mothers husbands wives grandmothers grandfathers boys and girl men and women. Many had extremely premature deaths. Some babies didn't even get to breathe. They didn't get to breathe. That is so insane and just heart breaking to me and insane to think and see that this is the life many people had and continue to live. And NO ONE is taking responsibility. Its infuriating. I wouldn’t be able to go on if something happened to my baby. She’s my only one that made it. From the children, both those that passed and the ones who still suffer, to those poor parents, blaming themselves when the guilty refuse to... the scientists who made the product unbeknownst to them that it would eventually be involved in so much devastation 😢 All the while I want to say this story is shocking but sadly, it seems like big business simply doing what they do and here we are witnessing the aftermath. There's some bad or misleading information in this video. You'll probably find it hard to boycott Oxy because the Oxy here is a native south korean company. It's not OxiClean or Oxy Petro (the american gas and oil company). And they had been selling this stuff for years before Reckitt, the british company very briefly mentioned in the video, acquired them, although in court it was claimed that Reckitt did try to cover it up after they acquired Oxy.
