  • Today we get to a little project that has been laying in wait at the shop. My friend has a fun little VW project going and it came with this bare engine on a starter stand. So we dig into it since we have no history or idea what condition it is in. Reassemble it, and hopefully fire it up.
We also get the budget LR4 back on the road with some basic maintenance. Get the Range Rover Camper out of cold storage and finally dig the VW Touareg with the V10 TDI dug out of the weeds.
All fun stuff and man, that cheap Amazon winch has been a great thing to have on the front of the Land Rover.

It's the Roverhome !!! A friend of mine, Jeremy Raivo, built that beast quite a few years ago HaHa!! Nice to see it's still alive !

Yea the Roverhome! We snagged it off Bringatrailer a couple years ago. Finally should have some time to get after it this year. Going to go back to the original colors on it and get it back on the 35s along with updating the inside a bit.

@@LostCauseRanch That is going to be cool to see it cleaned up / refurbed. It sure ruffled a few feathers back when he did it, but it was a time when these things were worth very little, heck I couldn't give nice body parts away and sent 3 perfect body/chassis to scrap. Ugh...

Well that was a entertaining video full of fun things, plus great to see Sasha back in front of the Camera. Sometimes it good to be able to work on vintage stuff like the VW Aircooled motor, just to remind yourself how easy they are to work on compared to most modern motors. If you are looking the “break” the Touareg into parts and then sell them on, maybe now would be a good time to invest into the two post lift you had promised yourself 🤔, rather them busting your back working on the cold concrete floor? Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next video. 😎👍

I might be wrong Joe but it doesn’t sound like it is chiming in on all four! I haven’t seen any exhaust gas come out of the left-hand pipe.

I still use timing light. I have a classic Range Rover and several Series 3. The sound in your LR4 is great. Did you remove the "turtle" muffler?

Those definitely make the case for having a timing light around.
I have the center muffler and resonator both removed on it, with an x pipe in place. So just cats --> X pipe --> Rear muffler.

wow a timing light have not had to use one of them in lets say 25 years or so lol, But the VW air cooled engine is the cats meow not a lot of things to go wrong lol

Yeah I really do like how simple it is (if I didn't say that enough in the video haha).
But yeah, timing light is a pretty seldom used tool for me too. I can go years without touching it.

Finally! Haha. Working on getting my life back organized again. It shouldn't be too crazy to update the inside of it.

Where did you get that bleeder? Does it work on the Disco 2 also? I really need to flush my brake fluid. Thanks 🙏🏻

That one was just off amazon. It has worked well, used to have an actual Motive brand one before but it was due for replacement after years of shop use. This one has served me perfectly for the occasional; use stuff now, but man is it the only way to flush/bleed brakes. Saves a lot of time and effort.
