This was also my case. I got prescribed 36,000 Creon and almost no info about lifestyle changes. I did my own research and was able to get myself on track. I feel for all of us tho, basically navigating this horrible illness by ourselves

For some reason I have noticed that in a lot of cases doctors are not prescribing proper strength pancreatic enzymes like Creon 25,000, and not properly informing people of appropriate dietary lifestyle changes. It's alarming. If you are reading the comments and you are having pancreatic issues do yourself a huge favour that can save your life and do lots of research. 🙏🙏🙏

I was just diagnosed. I lost 40 pounds in a month. Finally, someone believes me. In 2005 I was the hospital for a week with full blown pancreatitis. I have experienced similar pain ever since. I gave up trying to find answers until earlier this month because I was told I was making it up.

They tried doing me like that too and I almost died and now have chronic pancreatitis because of it. Trust yourself, you know your body better than anyone else. I hope you're feeling better soon ❤

@@ChronicallyAriel Thank you Ariel. I definitely will. I have a specialist appointment on July 17th. Hopefully everything goes well with some treatment options soon. I can't keep losing weight like this. I was 205 pounds. Now I'm 165... in a month. It definitely has me worried along with the constant almost burning pain.

Idk yet if I have acute pancreatitis or chronic. But I know I have one or the other based on what the doctors told me when I went to the emergency room a few months ago for some severe abdominal pain. I unfortunately lost my health insurence shortly after and am still waiting for clearance to get actual testing and treatment. But I did do research on a diet for people with the chronic disease, and it's helped me significantly. At this point I know what my triggers are and what I can eat with little to no discomfort or pain.
If you're in the same boat. Here's what I've found and I recommend for everyone else. Quot drinking alcohol and smoking tobacco immediately (cannabis is fine and maybe even encouraged if it takes away your pain). Another one that doesn't get talked about enough is any liquid form of sugar or sugar substitutes with one exception, that being agave (I forget why, but it's definitely safe in moderation). However, sugar in your food is okay if not mildly encouraged. I don't exactly know why this is, but if I have Amy type of sugar water I have a reaction, but sugar in food I don't. Of course I'm talking real sugar, do avoid processed sugar at all cost. And that same rule applies with carbs. Whole wheat should be your only intake on carbs. I've found all proteins to be relatively safe, but do try to avoid fattier ones. I LOVE salmon. But I can only eat it once in awhile bc I do get some of the pain when I eat too much of it. But in a dish here and there you'll barely even notice it at all.
Sigh, so many good things are gone. But so much I still love is here. Fruits and veggies are great! I've been splurging on some fancy salads and cauliflower rice bowls. And spice! I've been chasing the spice demon eating some of the spiciest foods I can as it's personally been helping me replace the high of alcohol. I put hot sauce or peppers in many of my dishes or when I order out. Some taco tortillas are made from corn and are safe, so I still can enjoy Mexican food, though I have to ask what type of tortillas when I go to restraunts

So I learnt today excess calcium in our body is one of the factors causing Pancreatic issues as a result of stone formation. Now with much food like milk being fortified with excess calcium this can trigger this problem for people .So check your family diet. Also reduce excessive calcium intake.Since you do not drink or smoke. Tnx

Your so young, at what age where you diagnosed?
I may possibly have chronic pancreatitis but I'm nearly 42 with 5 kids. I've had pain on and off for 9 years! But ppl think I'm just making it up.😬 Until an ultrasound recently showed something. So I have to have an MRI in a weeks time. You obviously had it as a severe case. I'm so sorry you've had to go through this. You seem like a clever young lady, and and sensible and positive. Wishing you lots of healing and I hope everything is getting a little easier in the management now that you've figured out what's wrong. 😊

    • @ChronicallyAriel
      @ChronicallyAriel  Před 2 lety +3

I believe I was officially diagnosed at 23. It was years of pain before that though. Even as a kid anytime someone tried to make me drink alcohol my body would reject it and I would immediately throw up and be in severe pain. I never realized it was related to my pancreatitis until I got diagnosed and all the doctors kept accusing me of being an alcoholic. I've never drank in my life just because it's painful for me. They just seemed baffled that it would be a rare case of familial pancreatitis, but it was. 😅
I hope things start going better for you. If you have any questions feel free to ask ❤

Hey, I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis a few months ago. I’ve been to the hospital 3 times, and it sucks. I have constant pain, and would love to know your diet. Like what you eat exactly, I need to mimic a shopping list bc what I do doesn’t work apparently. It’s hard!

Start trying to cut out fat. Drink anti inflammatory teas. Eat protein but not too much. Before you do that try and fast as long as possible until you can't take it just use non substitute sugar electrolytes. once you can introduce food to your diet get on a plant based diet with bell peppers and broccoli. Also boil the stem of the broccoli and drink the juice. Get into drinking aloe Vera juice and curcumin and also get into natural anti inflammation remedies like chewing Cloves 2 a day or a quarter piece of ginger root with carrots. There's many remedies the point is try to get the inflammation down. Once it's down reintroduce your pancreas to small meals all day

I think i may have pancreatitis because i was binge drinking last year for a month in a half pretty much every day. They first told me i had alcoholic gastritis month later i went in cause i had constant diarrhea said i had colitis and my potassium levels were low. Few months went by and i recently went to the e.r they said they thought it was pancreatitis but then the doc said it was only a stomach flu. At this point idk what to do feel nausea but havent puked. Just when i eat somethin its instant diarrhea, and that makes my colitis again. My stomach burns my throat burns my bk was burning too from time to time. So hearing this kinda gives me a clue of what i may have. And this all has happened to me in a span of a yr.

@@ChronicallyAriel then you probably have a hereditary condition or have been eating a bad diet. But I'd advise you to stay off the booze even if you drink occasionally. Eat chicken, fish often (both which are body building foods and are rich in choline which is beneficial to both the pancreas and liver if you have pancreatitis and those foods are easily digestible), egg whites, and whole grains like barley, brown rice, etc and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, etc and root vegetables like beets. There are plenty of tasty recipes to cook at home or eat out side with those ingredients.
Pancreatitis or even GERD will cause you to throw up. And it often gets worse if you don't eat or drink regularly. Or if you have strong stomach acid which gets compounded if you don't eat or drink the right foods for your constitution and blood type.
And eat regularly small meals at regular intervals (most people with pancreatitis don't feel hungry at all, so you must force yourself to eat). And keep yourself hydrated (pancreatitis often creates unusual thirst). The mouth, pancreas, liver, stomach, gall bladder all work in tandem FIRST to digest food first before it's passed onto the small intestine where it eventually gets absorbed, and then gets passed finally to the large intestine where the undigested rest (feces) is usually expelled through the anus.
And incorporate herbal teas like dandelion, hibiscus, chamomile, green tea, lemon tea in your diet to substitute addiction to coffee. Those herbal teas are great for the digestive system but avoid adding sugar to them, even if they might taste bitter - but they are healing and stimulate production of enzymes and healing of the digestive tract.
But avoid the booze and sodas when you're downing those foods in your system. Plain water is enough.
And drink turmeric water and have plenty of garlic in your diet to heal your pancreatitis. And use olive oil - it heals the pancreas and so does honey - avoid processed sugar. Turmeric is the Number 1 food or condiment to heal the pancreas - it's an antiseptic and healer for the entire digestive system - it's a super condiment.
