I had a guy that graduated with me came into my store and asked why I have never been to a class reunion. He mentioned the lady in charge of putting them together had asked him to invite me. I told him they are the same assholes they were in school, same cliques, they didn't want me then and now I don't want or need them in my life and certainly don't want to be a part of their life on any level. I told him to pass along my contempt and to remove me from their list and never contact me again for any reason. Same here, man. My immediate supervisor did everything he could to destroy my confidence. He repeatedly verbally abused me, scolded and humiliated me in front of department staff. It was a clear-cut case of workplace harassment.
He treated a couple of other guys like garbage, too. The pattern I seemed to observe is that each of us were tall, clean-cut, and decent looking. I detected jealousy. I think he was especially hostile to me because - while the other two guys had dark hair - I am of Nordic lineage with light hair and green eyes; while he was a short, balding Muslim.
Not even a year after I quit, I ended up in the same night school class with the jerk. At that point, I thought to myself, 'Oh my God. I can't shake this guy.". I was working at another place and I got my job there by finishing second overall in a mass of over 4,600 people who took a clerical exam.
I was sitting on a bench in the hall when the bastard/manipulator approached me and then something occurred to me. 'Wait. We're in a neutral zone here now. He has no power over me here. Oh boy! This is my big chance to get even!".
He wanted to know what I had been doing, and so I fulfilled his wishes for him. I, somewhat arrogantly, bragged to him about my exam result. I added, 'Somebody has MY title!'. You should've seen the look of fear on his face. It was a look I would've never seen when I was working in the same department with him. The big, scary man had instantly become a scared little boy.
If you follow baseball; you'll know what kind of moment it was for me. I felt just like Jack Clark (1985) or Roberto Alomar (1992) did when they hit their respective crucial, ninth-inning home runs in the League championships. They stuck it to the opposing pitchers in clutch style.
Well; I was in my first job out of college and he did everything he could to destroy my confidence.
'Guess he didn't like getting a taste of his own medicine!

Heh, dad gave me the same talk after I was beaten up by a bully for the first time when I was 9.
I was being bullied by older kids that were on the same swimming team, all were older because I was a bit of a wonderkid (later on I broke a national record in my fav race, 200 breastroke, and was in european semi finals in my best year, never reaching my potential because I developed a drug problem when my childhood shit caught up with me).
Anyway, I did what pops said. Next time I saw the bully and his gang,, he went for it again. The thing was I was as tall as most of them, except 10kg lighter as I was very skinny. He sucker-punched me in the plexus so he knocked all the wind out of me. I fell to the ground for few sec, and as I got my breath back, I got up and tried to throw one back, but was blocked and knocked out for 15sec (as told by my only friend there). Looking back now, I should have known this doesn't work against 10cm taller and 15kg heavier kid who was actually a very intelligent sociopath. Let's call him Dom. The worst part of that ordeal was that literally THE WHOLE SWIMMING GROUP OF 20 AND THE COACH WERE ALL RIGHT THERE. It was preseason, so the team went on an hour run in the local nature park that has kilometers of paths. It all happened as we were half way up the highest point of the park, basically 15minute walk back to the exit. And after the first punch, I looked up to coach who was just like "go on, defend yourself". As I came back from that knockout, coach just said "I'm your coach, I'm not here to parent you. let's continue with our run, kids!" and he took off and the rest of the team except for my friend followed. Basically 10 other guys and 10 girls, all just left me on the ground.
Later on, after my parents went berserk, the physical torment more or less stopped; I only got punched maybe 5 times over the next 4 years of the whole ordeal; stripped naked in front of the whole pool complex at a swim meet; almost drowned once when one of the kids pulled me down underwater and held me down for over a minute (I could hold my breath far longer at that time but he pulled me just as I exhaled, I guess); one of the kids would just always try fighting me but even though he was older, he was shorter and I guess felt threatened?dunno he now works as a morgue grunt if that says anything.
The worst part was the abuse that didn't stop- verbal. I was ostracized, called a certain name, and was brought to tears daily while the coach did nothing even if it happened in front of him. So, after 4 years of that shit, I was a different person. A shell of what I was meant to be. I developed defensive mechanisms that alienated most of my peers, I would take any kind of criticism as a personal attack, and I never developed close relationships with anyone as I am fundamentally broken.
I wish I could balance the scales somehow, but that sociopathic bully killed himself around 2y after I moved to a different group/coach. The old swimteam grouped up and went to the funeral, as did I. Some of his friends were crying, and all I could think was he stole my chance to get even, ever. I offered my condolences to his father while wishing his pos son is burning in hell with the rest of the scum that ever slithered on this earth. That kid systematically drained my soul of love until all that was left was hate, rage, and anguish.

I can relate to this story directly. When I was bullied I was ready to put my life on the line. Amongst other physical and emotional abuse one of my experiences was having two boys carry me to a toilet and force my head under water. They held it under. They flushed. It felt like I was being drowned. This was when I was in 7th grade.
The feeling of having your face forced into a toilet is completely dehumanizing.
After they let me up I mildly punched one of them in the chest and he punched me harder in the face. They reminded me - ‘there’s two of us’
Those two boys were the product of privilege and parents that spoiled and enabled them. No discipline.
One of the boys began using cocaine that year or the next. He ended up an addict, with the parents having the money to put him through expensive therapy. I think the other one had issues with drugs as well and that one bullied me all throughout high school.
I’ll never forget the atrocities committed on me. They shaped me and unfortunately instilled some chilling lessons on me that I’m still working to undo.
Remember to love as much as possible in this world. Love is the only defense against human corruption and decay. Stay committed to morals that benefit humanity. Peace.

He used to pick on this one boy Michael all the time until Mike couldn't take it anymore. Our school had an octagon shaped office building and I remember walking on the left side, ( it was about 8 am ) and seeing Michael run up to Ryan, (his bully) and stabbed him in the stomach three times with a knife. I was only 14 years old at the time and I can still remember the sound of that knife sliding into Ryan's Belly. Ryan survived that attack but he was never the same after and had major issues with his stomach. Michael was put in a psychiatric hospital for two years. Not at all buying what this guy is selling. My BS meter is off the charts.
    1) Lance Hindt had no idea this story would go viral, that's why initially he didn't give a crap about Greg Barrett. He didn't think tens of millions around the world would know who he is and for negative reasons.
    2) 1983 lawsuit where he admitted in the deposition to severely injuring William Stein and leaving him unconscious in an alley - that's on a whole next level of psycho.
    3) Stupid, canned PR statement... (weeks after initial incident)
    4) Saw him outside school meeting laughing, smiling and taking selfies.
    5) True, devout Christians would never use the "Only God can judge me" card.
    6) Multiple witnesses who can not only back up Greg's story, but have their own horror stories
    7) Now that sh*t's hit the fan - he's in crisis mode and just now made a big show of wanting to meet with Greg. If Lance really had decent intentions he would have done it much sooner and privately.
Getting an extremely bad, douchey vibe from "Dr. Lance Hindt" and would say he's only doing damage control to help stop all the blow back and God forbid he lose his $375,000 a year sweet job! He's the worst kind of guy who will only do what's right if it makes him look good and helps his popularity.
The whole "people change" defense is also unacceptable to me. That totally dismisses and marginalizes victims of bullies. Often, the bully gets to go about living their lives, totally forgetting about all their past behavior, and never having to face consequences for their actions. Schools and teachers are only part of the equation, it's the parents' responsibility to actually teach children right and wrong to ensure they do not end up a garbage person like Lance freaking Hindt. Who did he or his parents know to get that taken or kept off?🤔🤔 Reached a settlement my a$$!!!! So many questions that I do not even know where to begin. We have yet to hear an apology for HIS actions but have heard an apology for the annoyance this has caused. The fact that people are trying to save this jackhole's job is a joke and they need to take a good look at themselves and ask why are they wasting their time.
I know I wasn't a saint growing up. I would say my life was more like that movie, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. As someone was making my school life unpleasant, I'm sure I was making someone else's schoolife not as pleasant. But I didn't wake up looking forward to pick on somebody. If someone approached me today and accused me of bullying or being mean to them in school and I didn't remember them, I would definitely apologize and say how much school sucked and probably offer to take them out to lunch or dinner and talk about our school days.

I was a bully in second grade to a kid named Mathew. We went on a field trip to a zoo and I bullied him over and over by calling him "Mouth-ew". I got a lot of cheers for it. Then I saw Mathew cry as we walked on a path and I felt horrible. I befriended him right then and there and never bullied anyone again. At first he was hesitant thinking it was a set up, but he realized quickly I was serious and we became friends. I moved schools the following year, but was always glad I was able to make up a bit for being a bully to this kid.

Police never even came to investigate. Another time I had, like almost bowling ball size rocks, thrown at the back of my head. And when I finally stood up for myself and flogged one of them, went to police to press charges, they tried to talk me out of it as they were classed a juveniles for the court system, two of them admitted guilt in court the last one turned everything around and said I assaulted them.

Greg contemplated suicide, and thank goodness he's alive to bring this stuff out in the open. Lance Hindt is either too proud or cannot comprehend that his actions lead people to being self destructive. Hopefully Lance's kids will not have to suffer what Greg went through, not only because it's painful but because Lance's kids don't have an appropriate parent to get help from.

I got beaten up, got punished by teachers several times, got sexually assaulted, got beat up during nights in our retreat. I fought back at my bully and the adrenaline i had humiliating him and beating him up really made up for what he did to me all those years. Heck i get to flirt with his ex (i don't know how she became her boyfriend because the guy is disgusting as hell). The lesson here is beat up those bullies *NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES* and be sure that they stay down, but no killing

There were a few things said by both men and body language I picked up on that led me to believe Mr. Gay.
The fact that he didn’t want Lance to lose his job and felt as a former bully he could recognize a bully was the clincher for me.
Lance is still a bully and it’s obvious. I haven’t read any updates on this story, but I feel safe in saying that any legal action Lance took was a waste of time.
