+Jay Jensen Id say my father programmed me well as well XD Although I didnt see them till I was 19, I saw RUSH in Toronto last year. It was awesome, a thing to remember for a lifetime! I have to agree, I dont understand how someone couldnt "get" RUSH but oh well the world goes on
John Knoop I was at the show in Toronto last year too, Fucking epic! What a finale show for the best live band. Don't blame them for wanting to quit doing major concert tours at their age lol.
+Michael Vroom Rush goes unnoticed? Seriously. "Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 40 million units as of 2004. The group has been awarded 24 gold, 14 platinum, and 3 multi-platinum albums." "inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994, and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013." Yeahhh they are terribly unnoticed.
Geddy Lee one of the most underrated bassist ever, as Alex and Neil also don't receive the credit due as the world class musicians they are. Nice selection and I hope you are playing live, you are too good not to be!
i agree that alex lifeson and geddy lee are musical beasts, and maybe they're underrated, in my opinnion alex is one of the best guitar players in the world, and geddy too , his bass sound is pretty unique. But i don't think neil peart is underrated, he's one of the best drummers in music history but his name is well known when you get into the drumming world.
I think Alex is the one who gets forgotten about. Geddy and Neil are drummer and bass players, 2 positions that normally don't receive as much attention and I think that because of that people don't realize just how fantastic he really is. At least when you look in the guitar magazines where there are real musicians you get to hear people just gush over him.
Very complex piece and you nailed it....tone and all! Excellent playing! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your talent! I knew this was a tough song....seeing the bass part cleared gives me an even deeper appreciation!
alex was voted the No2 greatest guitarist of all time by the readers of guitarworld magazine thats pretty good recogition by people who know guitar rolling stone on the otherhand rated him as No99 but of course they're morons
***** I have a bass, I sometime play it and I started playing music with this bass, but I'm more focused on guitar. But my bass playing and my guitar playing are sometimes mixed up and I sometimes play my bass like a guitar and my guitar like a bass. My bass playing is based on both guitarists and bassists. And there are so many of them. Sure, he's probably a legend, but I've never really listened to it. Maybe one day, I'll get a lot into this, maybe not. Maybe I'll find a bassist that is much better, maybe I won't. My point is who cares what I listen to, as long as I play and have fun playing?
Dalek Hope so far you have listened to more rush. If you haven't, my advice is to start. It will definitely increase more to your musicianship as a whole, besides being of the best bands ever.
OMG, you got the false harmonics at 2:13!! I'm bowled over. When I was gigging (uh, 25+ years ago...) we never performed YYZ because neither I nor any of my buddies could figure how to get them. WELL DONE and thanks!
They are called "false" harmonics because they're not natural harmonics. They're fairly well impossible to find if you can't read sheet music and you're learning the tune by playing along with a tape. I got it all except for those damned false harmonics. Young Anna here, nailed them. I say good for her!!
They are natural harmonics created over the 5th fret and the 4th fret on both the G and D string. They do sound interesting because they are played as double stops, but the are definitely natural.
I really enjoy listening to music with my eyes closed. When your eyes are closed you are forced to pay more attention rather than just relying on your sense of sight to do the job for you. Think about how in tune blind people are to all of their other senses out of necessity. They have a heightened awareness of things going on around them because they have come to use all of their senses instead of using them selectively. When closed, I could swear up and down that Getty Lee is at the bass. What a talent you have. Thanks for sharing. :)
I freaking love Rush. All time favorite musicians. Alex is the reason I recently picked up a guitar (and bout 10 more) I can't play yet but RUSH is my motivation. Well done! You did a great job!
Those are some of the fastest and most difficult Geddy riffs there are, (and we all know, that Geddy Lee is one hard bass player to follow...right? he's like one of the world's BEST bassists'!) and she seems so effortless in her ability to play it all.. MAD props, MAD respect!
Funky Motown bass lines was the first video of yours that I saw, and I enjoyed it. I was even pretty impressed by your timing....but then the second video I watched was this one. You knocked it out of the park on this one and earned a subscriber instantly.
Great job! I was really impressed. Rush is my favorite band ever and also the most talented as well. Try to think of any band where you have that level of talent at every position AND have a remarkable chemistry as well.
+chooooook LOL...I'm assuming that "THEE HATERS" are woefully less talented than Ms. Sentina....so drinking their gruel of Hatoerade is all they have left in their lives! Cheers
That's because on YYZ the bass is the lead instrument, it takes the bass out of it's natural role, hence you need a different mindset when playing that song. As a bassist you have the reflex to bridge the drum and guitar ... but on YYZ, Alez Lifeson if doing this, not Geddy. And the song is also very hard to play, just like most pre-Presto songs from Rush.
Great Looks, Awesome gear and sound, near perfect playing on an extremely demanding instrumental classic rock song...officially blown away!!! Best wishes!
It's a Music Man Stingray. Limited production, very precisely made, low action, sturdy and wonderfully versatile, especially this later 2-pickup version. Prince would not have played this. Not glitzy enough- he always felt the need to leaven his talents with ludicrous theatrics.
Aside from being very good, you always nail the tone on these covers... like perfectly. Kind of envious as I spend too much time on this and don't always get it even half this good.
That was fantastic, and as great as you are it made me appreciate Geddy Lee even more than I had before. It reminds me of how visiting the Serengeti made me appreciate the Great Plains all the more.
I'm not going to complement Anna's looks like most of the posts. This musician is very accomplished. She plays several pieces of music without reading so she is doing it from memory. I have met accomplished readers that cannot play without the sheet music. I cannot remember lyrics so I can relate to needing sheet music. She also plays different styles of music and has a broad background of songs. I would hire Anna strictly on her talent alone. The stage presence would only be a bonus. I like the studio stuff but it would be great if she would post live gigs. It would be a loss to the music world if she only plays in the studio and rarely get's out. I play live gigs all the time and love every minute of it. Some gigs are better than others. I hope Anna plays incredible gigs all the time. She deserves it!
+Fuk Hue Neither will I.She's obviously put in the time, she's very skilled, and I really enjoy watching her play, for reasons other than her looks. She's inspired me to start taking my bass more seriously again.
+Fuk Hue I completely agree with you. Yes, it's true, she's not hard to look at, but to focus solely on her looks rather than her talent effectively trivializes the massive amount of time and effort she has so obviously put into her playing.
Hunh? I don't see any resemblance of a C major chord. Actually the muting is done mostly with the right hand provided you don't play the bass with a pick, which I used to. I can remember a drummer friend of mine was attempting Dazed and Confused and that E string was continuing to ring and I pointed it out to him. "Well what do I do?" "I don't know, let me see" and I played it. My thumb was coming up over the top to mute without even realizing it.
You'd make Geddy proud. I play a lot of Rush as well, on my strat, and got to see their R40 concert. I love how Geddy gets into the song with his Jazz Bass.... :) You did an awesome job! Keep up the good work!
Mind this is composed in the late 70's-80's and not on a regular rock-Based patron.. btw..nice we get a sneak peek to ur pink curtains and the vanHalen -amp.... Thumbs-up...
What is up with the haters? I think she did a splendid job with a serious bit of music. I'm guessing the 248 or so thumbs-down dip $hits have never played an instrument other than the one dangling between their legs.
My compliments on a well executed performance. I used to play this on bass on a cover band (more years ago than I care to admit!) Thanks for the pleasant memories!
My favorite thing about "YYZ" is that it was one of the first rock instrumentals to give equal solo time to every instrument being played throughout.
+Rawk4Life She plays bass too? This young lady has talent.
Geddy Lee inspired an entire generation of bassists, and still Rush goes unnoticed lol.
I noticed :-)
+Michael Vroom I wouldn't say they go noticed Just not everyone's cup of tea
+Jay Jensen Id say my father programmed me well as well XD Although I didnt see them till I was 19, I saw RUSH in Toronto last year. It was awesome, a thing to remember for a lifetime! I have to agree, I dont understand how someone couldnt "get" RUSH but oh well the world goes on

Wow geddy looks awesome!
He's really keeping his young girlish looks
Haha!!! Yes, Geddy has remained young. ;-) Fantastic performance from Anna!!!
Both Anna and Geddy fix their hair at 2:19.
geddy lee wrote some incredible bass lines!!!!!!!!!!
I can watch her playing bass all day! She played the hardest bass line ever great plus she is absolutely gorgeous!
That song is not easy to play. Great job!!
I love the clean sound and great dynamics. The bassist is the real deal.
Geddy Lee on dresses ....
YOU ARE AMAZING NINJA ON BASS!
congratz !
hugs from Brazil, luv u !
Geddy Lee one of the most underrated bassist ever, as Alex and Neil also don't receive the credit due as the world class musicians they are.
Nice selection and I hope you are playing live, you are too good not to be!
Yeah, *no one* knows who Geddy Lee is.

maybe, because he is not like a shredding master, but as you say, people who know about music just freaks out with him. His guitar playing is magic.
I think of all the bass covers you've posted, this is the best. Watched this over and over. Simply awesome Anna!
Very complex piece and you nailed it....tone and all! Excellent playing! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your talent! I knew this was a tough song....seeing the bass part cleared gives me an even deeper appreciation!

I had never listened to Rush before this video.
I like it.

OMG! A DALEK! A Dalek who never have listened to Rush... That's is evil man!
Best band ever. They love moose and syrup
Dalek Hope so far you have listened to more rush. If you haven't, my advice is to start. It will definitely increase more to your musicianship as a whole, besides being of the best bands ever.
You have such excellent taste for picking songs to cover! And you sure play with lots of heart. Thank you for posting.
Killed it in the solo bits! That was always my favorite part. Great job!
superb! note perfect. you are so relaxed whilst playing as if it's really easy for you! very accomplished and stylish execution.
WOW!!! A bass goddess!!!!!!!!!
Excellent job! Great tone from your bass and amplifier too. And you've got the composition memorized and you play it with feelilng...Wow!
What I love about yyz is the sound shredding base that stands out above everything else
My dad loves Rush and he's a bass player and he has admitted that he can't play this song on the bass that well but u r killing it! Good job!
OMG, you got the false harmonics at 2:13!! I'm bowled over. When I was gigging (uh, 25+ years ago...) we never performed YYZ because neither I nor any of my buddies could figure how to get them. WELL DONE and thanks!
Those harmonics are real Tho lol

Not to take away from the great playing on the video obviously! Just an observation
Not likely anyone will think you're downplaying Anna's work. Peace.
Oh my god you make it look so easy I love watching your amazing videos keep playing!
Genuinely the best cover i've seen of this Rush masterpiece!!... amazing!!
I really enjoy listening to music with my eyes closed. When your eyes are closed you are forced to pay more attention rather than just relying on your sense of sight to do the job for you. Hey use this to learn Rush, or any other guitar songs, it's really easy to follow:
www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/rush-limelight-tab-s17265t0
One of my favorite bass sections from any song ever. Nice work!
absolutely incredible. Nailed the harmonics in the bass-drum trade. Wow...freakin' awesome
You make it look so easy!
Those are some of the fastest and most difficult Geddy riffs there are, (and we all know, that Geddy Lee is one hard bass player to follow...right? he's like one of the world's BEST bassists'!) and she seems so effortless in her ability to play it all.. MAD props, MAD respect!
So good on so many levels ... I could watch those hands all day
so awesome!!! i am head to toe amazed by you. great work
Nicely done!!
Excellent work on a very difficult song...
*polite clap*
You should do La Villa Strangiato (or anything off of Hemispheres, for that matter) or Siberian Khatru by Yes.
I agree with the La Villa.
Chris Lav La Villa Strangiato is a fun song to play. YYZ too hard for me.
shes killing those fills. nice work! best ive seen so far. that Stingray has an insanely sweet tone.
This song still gives me chills! LOVE IT! Best time of my life!
Oh, awesome bass playing too Anna.
I love it when the Rock 'n' Roll I hear is as beautiful as the woman playin' it. Huge Rush-fan, by the way!
Talent and Beauty=Deadly Combination!
Funky Motown bass lines was the first video of yours that I saw, and I enjoyed it. I was even pretty impressed by your timing....but then the second video I watched was this one. You knocked it out of the park on this one and earned a subscriber instantly.

Dayum!!!
All I can say is lol at the 185 haters. One of the most difficult rock basslines in history, killed. Bella, bella!
+chooooook Now it's up to 212 haters... difficult to understand what they don't like about a very nice looking lady crushing a tough bass line
+chooooook the 233 people are just jealous they cant play this
+chooooook and the whole video is without cuts!
+chooooook LOL...I'm assuming that "THEE HATERS" are woefully less talented than Ms. Sentina....so drinking their gruel of Hatoerade is all they have left in their lives! Cheers
this blew my mind . I've been trying so hard & you make this look effortless
That performance totally rocked. You certainly know, how to play your guitar. Excellent playing. That takes real skill!
Always wondered how Geddy Lee did the harmonics at 2:13. Excellent song.
This song is so frustrating to get right on bass. She kills it!
That's because on YYZ the bass is the lead instrument, it takes the bass out of it's natural role, hence you need a different mindset when playing that song. As a bassist you have the reflex to bridge the drum and guitar ... but on YYZ, Alez Lifeson if doing this, not Geddy. Show Don't Tell is very challenging. That's a Presto classic
Yeah, the solo in that song is fucking beastly.
That's next on my Rush list for bass. Such a pain in the ass.
the best bass playing i have ever seen. love you
Just found your videos, Anna. Man, you make it look so easy, and I've been playing bass something like 20 years! I'm jealous fo sho.
Nobody can play it like Geddy Lee, but you come awfully close
awfully close for sure. Gave me goose bumpsKyle Wilkins
Absolutely killer!! Geddy would be majorly impressed I think!!
Never could play this song, or even figure it out,but you nailed it. Fantastic!
Great reminder why I loved this song back in the day.
Holy shit, beautiful and talented awesome combination.
Killer cover! Very well done!
+Justin Tabor More of a play-a-long, Killer!
Still blown away by this cover. You are an outstanding bass player.
You made one of the hardest rock songs ever written look easy. Keep on rockin''
Great job Anna! I will have to try this one.
Kiana =)
oh my god you're amazing! :)
Wow!!!OMG!!! WTF!!!! totally awesome!!!! XYZ one of my all time favorite RUSH songs. She nails it!!! Talented and beautiful!!!
Making look easy as usual! Awesome cover, love Rush.
Can anyone tell me the brand and model of this bass? Thank you in advance.
Musicman Stingray
Jeebus look at them fingers fly. Last time I tried this I damned near crippled meself
Really great job on one of my all time favorite RUSH instrumentals. Bravo!
Great Looks, Awesome gear and sound, near perfect playing on an extremely demanding instrumental classic rock song...officially blown away!!!
Best wishes!
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE BASS! It looks like something Prince would have played.
its an ernie ball stingray hh
exactly!
hyuuh hee
It's a Music Man Stingray. Limited production, very precisely made, low action, sturdy and wonderfully versatile, especially this later 2-pickup version. Prince would not have played this. Not glitzy enough- he always felt the need to leaven his talents with ludicrous theatrics.
Ooooh... That bass...
Aside from being very good, you always nail the tone on these covers... like perfectly. Kind of envious as I spend too much time on this and don't always get it even half this good.
Amazing!! It's hard to find a quality bass player like this!!
Keep Rehearsing with that metronome =)
incredibly good =)
B.E.S.T. Rush cover E.V.E.R.!!!!!!!
Excellent work! Very impressive! Gorgeous bass, by the way!!!
You are outstanding on the bass, as this is an incredibly difficult song, masterfully done! Bravo!!
Man is she good! And that beautiful smile she gave at the end could make a man's heart skip a beat...
I am in love in so many ways. . . I am confused. I must go & practice now.
Great classic stuff, Awesome Anna!
That was fantastic, and as great as you are it made me appreciate Geddy Lee even more than I had before. It reminds me of how visiting the Serengeti made me appreciate the Great Plains all the more.
No cutesy gazing at the camera on this one... work!!! This is one excellent tune for bass... classic Geddy.

+Fuk Hue I completely agree with you. Yes, it's true, she's not hard to look at, but to focus solely on her looks rather than her talent effectively trivializes the massive amount of time and effort she has so obviously put into her playing.
Thank you. I could not agree more. She has obviously worked very hard to achieve this level of talent and it should be recognized without dilution.
Very much enjoyed this! As a guitarist; you made me appreciate and understand this song even more than I already do! Thank You!
I am awestruck and so envious at the same time. So good. So so good! Yay! :)
very nice! any Primus?
why does it always look like bassists are doing C major chords?
RIGHT?
Ah I see.
because of the thirds
Never knew anyone honestly who played bass with a pick.
You go girl!!! That was excellent!
You'd make Geddy proud. I play a lot of Rush as well, on my strat, and got to see their R40 concert. I love how Geddy gets into the song with his Jazz Bass.... :) You did an awesome job! Keep up the good work!
Well, you kicked my ass! I'm still working on this one....
*I* *Love* *you* *Anna* *
I must of heard this amazing song over 1000 times and I must say, you killed this cover!
Giiiirl that was spot on! Awesome cover :D
She's playing with her fingers!
Slappin' da bass, mon!
fantastic. an awesome bass line played effortlessly, if i had closed my eyes i could have been listening to the original version
great playing.one of my favourites you nailed it..I salute you
Mind this is composed in the late 70's-80's and not on a regular rock-Based patron..
btw..nice we get a sneak peek to ur pink curtains and the vanHalen -amp....
Thumbs-up...
You made it sound better than rush ! ;-)
My favorite bassist ever.... You really nailed those strange parts in 1: 122 and at 1:56..! Love it , Anna!
Wow that was actually incredible and spot on. Very nice
I am jealous of your boyfriend. Having a girlfriend which plays Rush songs... PRICELESS !!
What is up with the haters? I think she did a splendid job with a serious bit of music. I'm guessing the 248 or so thumbs-down dip $hits have never played an instrument other than the one dangling between their legs.
Mind. Blown. Awesome job!!! I'm jealous
My compliments on a well executed performance.
I used to play this on bass on a cover band (more years ago than I care to admit!) Thanks for the pleasant memories!
