I was wondering why the video was gone lmao
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE REACT TO GRACIES NEW ALBUM
Check out âHow Nirvana Changed Musicâ and âKurt Cobain: The Paradox of a Generational Iconâ
Watching people finally listen to Nirvana is like watching someone lost in the desert and dehydrated find an oasis of clean water
Mhm
definitely
truest thing iâve read
Real I love Nirvana smđ
Real
Your open mindedness is actually so dope.
the origin story really is i just wanted to find bangers and expand my music taste.
@@mkmetriGood on you! You honestly cannot do better than this band. The most influential band since the Beatles. Cobain was a genius!
@@user-mw3dd6ys1uYes, you can do better. Nirvana is good but youre acting like theyre the holy grail when they arent.
@@Sam-ni6bc your opinion
@@mkmetriyou honestly might like paramore! If youâre interested, I really like their most recent album but they definitely have some timeless bangers!
14:37 the lip balm application as the lyric is âiâm not gonna crackâ is a paid actor
LMAO
Slow clap
"Endless nameless" is song that was made when band tried to play lithium but couldnt figure it out so kurt got frustrated and they just broke into this song, they used this song at the end of concerts to break instruments, and on the cd of nevermind after something in the way ends theres silence for about 10 minutes and then endless nameless starts playing as a hidden track
The song "Polly" was written by Kurt after reading a newspaper article about a crime that occurred in 1987 about a 14 year old girl who was kidnapped as she was leaving a concert. Her kidnapper took Polly and brought her back to his place where he s**ually assaulted and tortured her. The story actually starts back in July of 1960 when a man named Gerald Friend (who is the kidnapper of polly) abducted a girl and her brother who were hitchhiking in Sumner, Washington.
I loved your reaction and id like to recomend albums "ten" by pearl jam, "dirt" by alice in chains and "doolittle" by pixies, but also more of nirvana
yeah he should read this.
endless nameless - the one he didn't like/get yeah it's not really a song to "like" or "get" it's an end of the night fuck everything destroy everything we're done song.
Polly - the most controversial song by them (at least until rape me came out) both of which was very miss understood and caused a lot of hate from people that just didn't get it..
and lastly this is my first vid from his i've seen, random youtube recommend, but i really like that it's a full album react but curious if it was a full album react or if this is just a compilation of individual vids of each songs?
Yeah, it's like an anger jam - not really a "song" - a hidden track put on the end of the CD 10 mins after Something In The Way to scare the crap out of you when you thought the CD was done. Doesn't really work as effectively on a track list when people think it's a genuine "song". Loved your review :)
@everyone Couldn't have said it better!! " It's all in the music man, it's all in the meat " đ
@@awollsd it is full I'm pretty sure
appreciate yall for the information and helping me learn and not being weird about it đ«Ą im tryna learn man.
Polly is a dark song. It's about a real-life kidnapping of a girl in Tacoma, Washington. She was leaving a concert and this guy named Gerald Friend kidnapped, raped and tortured her. Kurt wrote it from the perspective of the kidnapper so it would be so uncomfortable for the listener and you'd never forget the story. It's an anti-rape song.
Butch Vig, who produced the album, called it a haunting track. I'd agree with that. Keep rocking on your reactions. So genuine and fun seeing you discover new music.
Also, Lounge Act is my favorite. Glad you loved it, too!
28:28 is exactly when metri gets the appeal of grunge music
đđ
Bro I stg I guessed the song before ai checked I just knew it would be Lounge Act
Nirvana makes BANGERS
made* sadly
@@jack_74yeah rip KurtđȘŠâ€ïž
âSomething in the wayâ was featured in the soundtrack of the last Batman that came out with Robert Pattinson maybe thatâs why it sounds familiar (if you watched it)
And used for all the trailers
You can tell how influential Nirvana has been for rappers through the years. They were the kings of catchiness. A beautiful blend of pop melodies with raw punk energy. The lyrics means nothing but at the same time it can mean whatever you want based on your experience.
Cobain was a genius and itâs really cool to see people discover it and feel it to this day.
I think the moment an artist makes you want or at least think of trying to do it yourself is an absolute win, and a Nirvana song is one of the almost everyoneâs first song to learn on guitar.
Legendary band
9:03 thatâd be Dave Grohl on drums (now lead singer/guitar of Foo Fighters)
thank you i gotta react to them.
â@@mkmetri More rock reactions would be cool in the near future. To step outta your comfort zone and listen to new music to you, I think it would be great
That's DG on backing vocals too!
Always here foe your Lana reactions, and now Nirvana??? This is great!!
đ€đ
Lana and nirvana my top 2 â€ïž
please react to some other nirvana stuff. if you can, and react to the full mtv unplugged set they did. it was performed a few months before kurtâs death and itâs gorgeous, spine chilling and so beautiful. loved the reaction!!
i definitely will đ«Ą
@@mkmetribro check out their first album bleach tons of raw energy or incesticide which is a good mix of the bleach and nevermind sound
â@@sxbvstixn7964bro, bleach is the most metal album of NIRVANA, which he doesn't likeđ
Unplugged is magical. If you can, react to the video not just the album/audio
@@mkmetrinirvana unplugged was the greatest performance of all time, listen to it until the end. the end will show you why its the greatest of all time
i just found you from the melanie vid, im so glad i can jam out with you for basically every song, ur vibe is immaculate (its also so crazy that people are hearing this album for the first time, ive been LIVING OFF OF ITđđ)
We love it when Kurt stomps on a distortion pedal
'Breed' will never fail to inject adrenaline directly into my veins. Nirvana was my adolescence. The voice of Gen X without question. Spitting in the face of the world, the unreasonable ones that insist on changing the world rather than changing to fit it. The music works especially well in a mosh pit. Except for Something In The Way... that song is only for listening to under a bridge, nodding out from heroin. Endless, Nameless was a hidden track... which worked way better when the music was on cassette and you had to just let it keep playing long past the last song to discover it. Unlabelled, unlisted madness trailing on the end of the tape.
you make me smile dude..."discovering new shit is beautiful"...well said
Endless nameless was actually a secret song when kurt cobain got mad when messing up recording lithium multiple times So they just started improvising and playing random things even though they didnât care about it sounding good.
13:20 imagine writing a chorus that just the word yeah over and over and being able to pull it off.
melody is a beautiful thing
Basically early Beatles
when people listen to nirvana for the first time its like they found nirvana
Yess!! Iâm so happy you did this!! if I could go back in time and see one band perform live it would be Nirvana 100% đ
nirvana letâs go! i just know youâre gonna luv this album before even watching it
edit: i was right LOL 7:35 bro was so disgusted at how good come as you are is and i couldnât relate more, it still hits. also couldnât agree with you more about how amazing it is discovering new music, i need to go on a music journey again. iâve been listening to the same stuff.
36:33 LMAO yes you probably have from the batman movie with robert pattinson, at least thatâs the first thing that comes to mind
42:52 totally is an acquired taste and donât feel like you canât be fr because this is YOUR listening and you can still love an album or artist and dislike songs from them, although itâs also hard because when Nirvana was in its prime they were playing shows and a lot of these songs were MADE for shows and moshing. itâs definitely a different experience seeing them live rather than hearing it through spotify. endless nameless is definitely a song i donât listen to but would love seeing live if i could.
3 videos in one day lets gooooođȘđŸđȘđŸ
hi metri i love your vids and reactions SO MUCH! i recently discovered your channel and ive never been happier, you make my days better and i want to thank you. you also have opened my eyes and ears to new genre of music and ive learned about rhythm, cadance, and beats thanks to you. i love seeing people who appreciate music and broaden their taste, i hope your channel continues to grow. but as a lana stan, please listen to lust for life next!!! or channel orange by frank, or k-12 by melanie. keep doing youđđ
đ€đż
If you loved this, you'll love Nirvana's album In Utero!! Nevermind is easily a 10/10 album, but In Utero only takes things a step further
I don't think he would like In utero, he seems to enjoy the songs with groove, so maybe bleech or incesticide. Dive, Blew, Love buzz etc have a good groove.
to explain a lil about the last song endless, nameless it was the secret track on the record (it would play after a while after something in the way) and it was them raging when they were trying to play Lithium
Fiona Apple âWhen the PawnâŠâ next pleaseee metri
I COMPLETELY AGREE. HIS REACTION TO FAST AS YOU CAN WOULD BE AMAZING
OMG YES
2 days ago i saw a clip of you on tiktok reacting to melanie martinez and now iâm hooked on all your videos. your vibe is so raw and you just gained a new subscriber!!
Fun facts about Kurt:
1: His sister came out as a lesbian and he was totally fine with it, but he was afraid people would bully her.
2: Kurt said he wished he was gay because he wanted to annoy homophones. (Idk if it's true, but some people say he thought he was bisexual)
3: he was a feminist and didn't like men "touching" women during nirvana concerts and once a woman got r@p3d during his performance and it made kurt stop singing, Krist and Dave stopped playing and pointed at the guy while laughing to him meanwhile kurt said "look at him!" While laughing at the guy.
4: Kurt didn't like "smells like teen spirit" and didn't understand why it was so popular. He's favorite song of his own was "Drain you"
(IM SORRY MY ENGLISH AIN'T THE BESTđđ»đ)
Wasnt Sappy Kurt's favorite? To be fair, we arent Kurt so idk
â@randommobilegaming4624 fr though :PP i heard that his favorite song was Drain you but I could be wrong :D
this is one of my favorite nirvana albums drain you and Polly are my absolute favorites on the album haha slowly becoming my favorite reaction channel I love that you react to a bunch of different genres cause I love all genres
Endless Nameless is really all the instruments just playing whatever they feel like, and in the middle of recording Kurt smashed his guitar on the floor, which is why there are a lot of distorted noises. This is the hidden song on the album, it was written improvised when Kurt was angry about problems recording Lithium. Too bad you didn't like it :(
obs: You should do a react to this song played live lol (i recommend live in paramout)
yo i actually love this so much because it reminds me of when i first listened to nirvana, i believe in you bro your gonna make it far with youtube
YOU ARE MY NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL ON CZcams. BIIISH. I DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE VIDEO YET BUT THANK YOU FOR NIRVANA.
Iâm so glad I discovered your channel đ, youâre genuinely super fun to watch and I love your reactions
Tbh Iâve been meaning to listen to more Nirvana songs so you reacting to them makes it easier for me to follow along and reassures I wonât miss anything in the lyrics
Love that you're discovering new music bro, especially rock/grunge. Would love to see a Black Sabbath album reaction - there are a lot to choose from but Paranoid is probably the best to start with. Great video keep it up!
funfact! Drain you was Kurt Cobian's (lead singer) favourite song!
you should watch lanaâs live cover of heart shaped box by nirvana!!

I also recommend the my chemical romance album three cheers for sweet revenge
NO BC I WAS THINKING THIS TOO!1!1 I love deftones and I was thinking he should listen to the whole White Pony album. :p but I think he would really hate Elite even tho itâs like my fave from that album lol
DROPPING BANGER AFTER BANGER! I LOVE YOU METRI
Random find! Glad you enjoyed the album, as an 11/12 year old when Nirvana hit this was EVERYTHING. No playlists/skipping songs then, the album was an experience. No CZcams lyric vids either đ
I GUARANTEE youâll love the Black Album by Metallica. đŻ
bro this brought light to my soul
Really like the reaction, continue doing you
The last song is like a statement on the ethos of Punk rock. It's a fitting ending for Nevermind in my view
SCREAMEDDD THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ALBUM EVAHHHHHH
youâre introducing me to music i never would have even touched, thank you!!
I love your reaction videos sm!! These genuinely make me so hsppy đđ«¶
2 things Kurt Cobain was famous for was his crazy screaming and his crazy guitar solos, that last song is classified as noise rock and his guitar at the end he was pointing his guitar at the speakers and playing around with the feedback, those are the squeaking noises, some people think its interesting. The last song was kind of a secret bonus track.
Iconic and legendary album â€
Adding âBreedâ in your library in the middle of the song is just too funny đ It so cool of you discovering such a masterpiece bro
Iâm so excited cause eventually youâll react to their live performances and I promise you that the lives surpass the official recorded versions
Your reaction to drain you made my day seriously. How you got so into it after the breakdown made me happy man, truly one of their best songs. Keep on exploring music!
âWhy does this sound goodâ
âI donât know whyâ đ it was so perfect
I love how he picked up on each different groove of the songs and the vibe he got the same feeling we all did when we heard this album which is why it was so successful a real game changer this album was for me and everyone I am sure.
atp iâm binge watching all your videos rn
they lean into their punk influences heavily sometimes, where the arrangement is intentionally aggressive, grating and "i just don't give a fuck" kinda vibes like a "fuck u" to the listener lol
you should definitely react to pierce the veil soon !!!
One: love this album and love your reactions. And two: Iâve watched you and sense you were at 5k subscribers and watching you grow is amazing. Love your reactions
13:00 just how Krist on bass rounds out that chorus underneath is so boss
You should listen to the in Utero album next :)
brother if you want more bwnds in the channel try my chemical romance (the black parade album)
as for rhe ladies, I'll suggest kali uchis againâ€
iâd love to see him react to mcr too! especially since itâs such a different sound than what heâs been listening to
growing up always knowing this makes me sad knowing Iâll never have this experience of hearing nirvana for the first time
Basically all of Nirvana's songs were based on how Kurt felt. He was a struggling heroine addict who had a lot of physcial and mental issues, and had a difficult life. That's the reason why the music sounds like nonesense. "Endless, Nameless" was a jam that broke out, because of how frustrated he was with the band not working well. Most of the lyrics were about his emotions, how he was a feminist, how he was a heroin addict, etc.
Love the vid my guy, keep it up!
You should watch Melanie's movie k-12
Try to listen to metal
Seeing people react too Nirvana gives me joy
I loved your original reaction had to rewatch
Hiii, as someone that really likes Nirvana, I suggest that you react to their album âBleachâ (my second favorite album by them) and you should totally react to their interviews. I think it would be fun to watch someone like you react to other bands aswell, such as Guns N Roses, Ac/Dc, Led Zeppelin, and many others. You should also listen to âHoleâ Hole is the band that his Wife is in, sheâs the main singer and she has a couple good songs (my opinion)!
Bruh, I REALLY enjoyed your reaction to this! This is how all of us felt back in 1991 when this shit dropped.
It was a real treat to see someone hear Nirvana for the first time and react! Thank you for the upload, dope vid
Loved your energy in the react! Keep up with the good content.
Greetings from Brazil! =D
I just found this and you know what I'm so far digging your videos
So happy to see more people listening to Nirvana theyre so good also I think you should check out the band The Crane Wives, their The Fool In Her Wedding Gown album specifically its sooo good, they dont have a lot of fans so itd be awesome to see you react to their music
Good to see a person reacting to it and giving an opinion on like the guitar and drums, I hate reactions where they just sit there, thank you for being different I'm subbing đ
reaction to lounge act was so valid đđ
personally I LOVE Nirvana and all of their albums!!!! Endless names less is one of my favorites but I'm just strange tbh. I have a video suggestion: watch the lives of Nirvana when they smashed the instruments on stage. That was an act they would do after performances and even though it hurts to see instruments get destroyed, it was a unique and fun way to end a show.
Glad you liked it by the way it's all good, so you should listen to the other albumssssss â€
Hey, I really love rock music and I loved this reaction! I think a fun reaction vid suggestion is The Offspring.
this was deadass me discovering grunge in grade 8
This album changed the world
You responding to my favorite band is freaking goldâ€
In Bloom plays with a lot of Jazz fundamentals, including syncopation and play with Bass and Drums. Kurt adds that "Dark Pop" feel with the vocal and guitar, and broken solo (gotta love that hang time in the middle of the guitar solo with the brief pause).
Dave Grohl actually took his drumming inspiration from some 60s and 70s African American inspired funk style drumming with a lot of big hits, and big spacing between hits, giving life to his drum kit.
For Kurt, the happy pop sound becomes a dark pop sound.
Krist on Bass keeps a Jazz-like vibe keeping it clean and keeping steady rhythm but always echoing the guitar riffs in parallel.
Dave's LESS IS MORE style allows for hang time, like the in the air of a buzzer beater 3 point shot, before the symbol crash.
A couple of things:
-Endless, Nameless was originally an unlisted hidden song on some CD versions of Nevermind that was on the same track as something in the way, about 11 minutes after the song. It was a noise jam that the band played around with and recorded out of frustration because Dave Grohl kept speeding up the drumming on Lithium. You can actually hear Kurt smash his guitar in the studio and after this, it and Territorial Pissings became staples of the end of their shows when the band would trash the guitar, drums, and amps. It was included to take up extra space on CDâs and to prank people that just let their CDâs play absentmindedly without turning them off.
-The drummer and backing vocalist from late 1990 to the end of the band was Dave Grohl. Heâs the guitar player and lead singer of the Foo Fighters. He plays on every song on Nevermind except Polly which was actually recorded at a different session a year earlier.
-The significance of this album is that it basically âcanceledâ a lot of bad music. In the 80âs, the radio and MTV were basically loaded with commercial pop music and bad âhair metalâ. There was a lot of music like punk, hardcore, post-punk, and a lot of more melodic noise and pop music (what would be called âindieâ today) that for commercial and political reasons was seen as scary and kept off the big radio stations and major labels. Nevermind came out when Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, and The Pixies squeaked through to the mainstream and over a period of five months knocked Michael Jackson off of number one in the charts and sent most of the hair metal bands back to county fairs and unemployment lines. Now you hear The Ramones and Circle Jerks in TV commercials.
Kurt Cobain
Krist Noveselic
Dave Grohl
Beau C
3 musicians and a friend who altered the course of my life forever. It was 92/93, and I was introduced to them by friend Beau. I had never heard anything remotely close to that. It was eye opening, and life changing. I felt like I had someone that understood me. Never met me, but he got me.
Everyone was welcome at the show. Just be a good person. Kurt didn't tolerate hate and bigotry. Good vibes, and good times.
30+ years later, and he is still missed.
As you continue down your musical journey, I suggest the following.
Listen to the bands that inspired who you're listening to. Bands like The Beatles heavily influenced Nirvana.
If you continue on the punk / grunge path; Alice in Chains.
You gotta do In Utero, their last album. Its sound style is a lot more grungy and raw. I know what you said about the e screaming.. but in utero is amazing, trust me youâll love it đ
I feel like lyrics really depend on what they mean to you, which makes you feel a deeper connection to the song. It's one of my favorite parts of songs, finding meaning in lyrics that would otherwise be meaningless (Unless it's really in your face on what their trying to convey, but Kurt really didn't focus on lyrics at all; saying he would sometimes write lyrics quickly right before they recorded the songs. They really loved and focused on the music and how it sounded, I think that is one of my favorite things about the band. Kurt also didn't like people reading too deep into his lyrics trying to find a meaning when there wasn't one, so I always love finding my own meaning in the music)
You seem like such a fun dude to listen to music with lmaoo . You would probably like the offsprings if you like nervana .
33:53 this songs is about his parents prioritizing themselves over him when he was a child.
Hey man you really good at your cuts. Even though you are clipping the songs they come across smooth. đ
I knew hearing your reaction to endless, nameless would be great lmao. Personally it's probably one of my favorite songs on the album and it fits perfect as the ending of the album. I personally love the transitions into the slower more organized rifts (the part of the song where he repeats "mother") and then the second half of the song just explodes into pure fury and chaos, it's just brilliant. It's like kurt encapsulated a complete mental breakdown and loses all control and composure which can seem why the guitar rifts and drums are just going berserk and all over the place. For me it's like the parts of the song where it slows down and kurt is calling out to his mother is like a desperate act of trying to control himself and a cry for help until he no longer can't and all hell breaks loose. That's just my interpretation of the song not sure if that was the intention, a lot of kurts songs were written without an exact meaning to them but I think they should be looked at like a representation of what kurt feels and deals with and the instruments and variety in his vocals sonically convey that and paint a picture for me.
You probably listened to the remastered version of the album, which came out in 2011. This album was originally released in 1991. Anyway, I enjoyed this video a lot. Keep it up!
great to see you enjoyed it man, very jealous you got to listen to it for the first time lmao. subbed :)
Great to see rap fans enjoy rock, Iâm a fan of both but I love seeing this content donât stop it
bruh i love your videos what the heck
This reaction was literally me 2 months ago. Coming from rap and blues taste this album was a perfect introduction to alt rock and grunge.
Love the reaction, and how open minded you are and honest you are! You dont pretend everything is a 10/10 cause you dont have tođ
The person on drums is actually Dave grohl! The lead sing of a band called foo fighters. He formed foo fighters shortly after Kurt died. Dave is a monster on those drums heâs a legend.
Somebody might have already commented on it, but the last song was a hidden "song" that would play unlisted on CD if you let it play for several minutes after Something in the Way. It's just something they recorded ex tempore in a storm of frustration while trying to record other songs. Its just a blast of anger. Not really a "song".
i like how he said he doesn't like heavy metal while wearing metallica merch lmao
I love how u didnât love drain you at first but by the end u seemed to. Great song
