    Great run :-) Any tips on how to get your alternating picking speed up to that tempo? And does your technique change at higher tempos (like using the forearm vs. the wrist)?

      For some reason I find that starting on an upstroke on these 2-note per string licks blasts me through at light speed… but downstrokes has always felt laboured…🙄

      Practice and Patience. That's the only secret. If you don't understand this, 2 things will happen. 1. You'll never stick to a routine, and 2. You'll fall for all the snake oil out there.
      Make a structured routine of 4 years and stick to it and look at your progress then. Start very slow, work on strength because it's the only way you'll be able to keep practicing and keep doing it. You weren't expecting it in 6 months were you? This takes YEARS man. The answer to your question is very simple and has been given for decades. If you did expect it in 6 months? 😂 Take up something else.

  • @MOAB-UT
    @MOAB-UT Před 2 lety

    Sounds great. So you start G#m Pentatonic. Then you jump to shape #2 (G#m Penta.) From there you said you jump into the B major box shape. When I think of that, my 1st position has my pinky on the B string but you don't seem to be doing that. Are you playing the 2nd pattern of the B major penta? I might be a little confused. Why not just stay in G#m Penta. I know all 5 of those shapes. I realize that Bmajor is the relative major of G#m but the 5 patterns are not all the same (locations) are they? I always thought you slide down (towards the nut) 3 frets to play the Major Penta scale (pinky on root note) e.g., as opposed to playing the diatonic 7 note version of the major scale.
    Also, what effects processor were you running- Helix or FM9? It sounded great.

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  Před 2 lety

      The patterns are all the same yeh, so B major and G#minor pentatonic have all the same notes - so you'll see me referring to those interchangeably (which might be confusing! Sorry)
