Title: STARFIELD A Perfectly Balanced Game With No Exploits - Can You Beat Starfield Unarmed Only Challenge
#starfield #game #glitch - Hry
*Welcome to the most underpowered overpowered build imaginable!*
p.s. Bethesda removed some of the trader chests so now I am very annoyed
Also reasons why unarmed sucks:
- Does Not Scale With level
- Is not buffed by other equipment
- Is only buffed by 2 meds
- Is Very Slow
- Has no weight or impact
- The Lowest DPS in the entire game
- Enemies will runaway constantly (Unlike in skyrim)
- Requires you to break every other aspect of the game to make it viable
A classic bethesda exploit, leaving chests in the ground.
@@coreyfinn5532 bethesda follows the golden rule, if it works in oblivion then it must work forever.
I enjoyed so many personal ATM's. It's a single player game, I wish they hadn't patched the chests out.
Does that rescue axe only do the glitch? Or any melee weapons?
as far as I know the rescue axe is the best at pulling this off
I love perfectly balanced gameplay.
Nice
Very nice
With no exploits
Nice
👍
The secret to a really great melee build in this game is crouching. Once you knock the enemy down, crouch and then your attacks become stealth attacks (since they're stunned they can't see you) and suddenly you're doing x 2 dmg. It will also let you start working up the stealth skills, which get stupidly good and stacks really well with a fisticuffs spacer build
Yeap, highest level of damage for unarmed is 10x sneak attack that goes to 600+ damage power attack headshot. It still has a really low base damage though since the wakizashi on the same character would do near 3k sneak headshot power attack and the vaarun painblade does nearly 4k.
That's so brilliantly broken it could only be a Bethesda game.
The ol Johnny cage method eh. Stay low and lo blow. And don't stop swinging.
Dang, that's like a no holds barred beatdown. Like, they're already down and delirious, better sit on them and mma smash their skull in til they stop moving.
The issue is stealth detection is currently broken in the thanks to multiple bugs. Equally it's still massively made superfluous by guns doing all this and more
This unarmed gameplay really brings me back to Morrowind where you have to punch your enemy for 15 minutes, while they lie crying on the ground and are unable to fight back, just to kill them. Bethesda games truly never change.
At least in Morrowind it was explainable with the game mechanics. They just straight up refused to make unarmed viable in Starfield.
ok
i mean, this has a railgun. It changed. No one told you to beat difficult warriors to death with your bare hands, that's on you.
What an interesting combo. While you're doing an unarmed build, the enemies are doing an unharmed build.
Underrated comment
New Todd Howard game = Always good content and perfectly balanced game with no exploits
YEP
Todd Howard doesn’t make games for the public, but for out lord of tea.
it just works!
u ok bro?@@tweakyification
this game sucks, stop pretending a broken game is fun because it's broken
I think it speaks volumes that an "officially" supported playstyle (as in, one backed up by in-game skills/mechanics) requires all this exploitation to be _almost servicable_
Yeah it feels a bit pointless to have it in since theres so little you can do to make it work. At least in skyrim you could train your crafting skills to make overpowered gauntlets which made it interesting to figure out how strong you could get
Try a regular melee build. Just as trash.
Melee also broken right now; what gets me really mad is that you can apply weapon tiers to melee weapons as well and it works flawlessly. All code is there. Its just doesnt work for whatever the hell reason.
@@exploertm8738 Clear Todd Howard _intended_ for the entire melee line of perks to be a pure trap option, to weed out the unworthy players.
And bloodborne has a shield yet you are not meant to block
I dont see why unarmed combat should be viable in this shooter setting
I love how Howard did the same mistake again after 10 years.this guy will never learn to hide chests
If you look up insanity in the dictionary, you'll find a photo of Todd next to the definition. ;)
I really hoped that "unarmed only" would also apply to space battles
I got so annoyed at one NPC's trash talking that I literally rammed her ship to pieces. I had enough particle DPS to vaporize her in 5 seconds, but I didn't fire once. Fun times!
It's as if Todd didn't expect people to actually try unarmed builds.
It is actually baffling that they allow you to waste 8 whole skill points on this. You can’t even quick swap to unarmed. It honestly seems like a cruel joke.
@@GyroZeppel I agree 100%! Also if they're going to make it worthless, I wish they'd at least make it comical like at level 4 theres a 25% chance to send the enemy flying or something.
duh...in todd we trust
@@AsianSensationistif we had abilities like Oblivion and unarmed weapons like fallout it would be awesome
@@infernaldaedra At least call them "fist weapons" instead of "unarmed weapons."
Unfortunately, they patched the chests out some time ago. I don't understand why they left the dawnstar chest alone for 13 years but patched the starfield chests after 3 weeks.
Todd's getting tired of the memes 😂
People should have just kept cool about the treasure chests in Skyrim. But like since people have literally made hundreds of thousands of dollars bitching that Bethesda never fixes game exploits and use the damned chest as their rallying cry, this is what happens.
People can't say Bethesda doesn't listen 😂😂
@@grustlytaj8708 they can so, i submitted a formal complaint to the company itself immediately after i found out about the patch requesting they put the chests back in.
Seems like they moved the chests under the vendors in New Atlantis. Can’t find any.
Meanwhile there is still a game breaking bug that deleted all my cargo and erased the name of my ship, it is literally unnamed, just blank. When I try to rename it, nothing happens.
I get that with the limits of the creation engine they have to use the chests to hold shop inventory, but why wouldn't they think to put them lower under the map? Or in some asset box only with the use of Dev magic. At that this point they should be cheeky and put custom signs posts near them that read:
'Player please don't steal from this.'
Hell just put them inside the shops and let us rob the stores like real thieves? And lock them I guess?
You'd think bethesda would have learned their lesson with all the lootable merchant chests in skyrim (that they never patched). One of the most well known exploits in any game, and they did the same damn thing in 2023
I mean, at this point its a feature, and many people would get dissapointed/angry if it was patched. Plus, if you dont like the boost it gives, just dont use it.
Implies they think to give the devs any extra character abilities.
Just underwent a surgery. Wasn't ready for the Count coming to fist me comment so I laughed and am now in unimaginable pain. Subbed.
I hope the recovery went/is going well!
The best unarmed RPG build I've encountered is in Daggerfall (Unity). In that game you need certain weapon materials to defeat certain enemies. A regular iron weapon won't defeat certain supernatural enemies, for instance. But your fists can defeat anything. And they get very powerful, and very fast. By the time your agility is maxed out you're basically a cracked out kung fu master blitzing through the hallways and rapid fire punching any and all enemies to death. It's magnificent.
Kenshi has good unarmed combat, Once its high enough you can punch someone so hard their arms fly off.
For me it is full monk build in Baldur’s Gate 3. Running around a fairy tale land as Jackie Chan just whooping everyone’s ass with no weapons is great.
Yeah Monks in CRPGs are very OP. Pillars of Eternity has some great ones too
@@rogers4760 I have pictures of one of my shek punching a Paladin over the Trap in the Holy Nation. Literally flinging the body over it due to some weird ragdoll twitching.
Fallout 2 did a pretty good job of it, too. With higher-tier unarmed attacks bypassing armor in addition to getting buffs to crit chance and raw damage, it was perfectly viable right up until the final boss, and even then, a mega powerfist made up the difference. Funny how 25-year old RPGs had this crap figured out, and Bethesda is just scratching their heads.
"We gave you perks! What more do you want?"
Perhaps a little testing to see if those perks do enough to make the build actually viable? Just a thought!
My favorite is that when you knock them down, they won't get up until you hit them again. So you can knock each enemy down and have a roomful of bad guys laying around forever.
The most baffling thing about unarmed combat in this game, is that there are a plethora of perks dedicated entirely to it, yet it is still godawful compared to everything else. Like I could understand if it was a weak mechanic that became strong once you had all or most of the perks, but it just remains bad the entire time AND you sunk a ton of points into some useless skills.
throwing barrels, punching and super jumps...truly the pinnacle of gameplay, of early 90s
and somehow no game in 90s was 24 years in development and had revolutionary graphics... this lady and gentleman must be the progress
ok
Donkey Kong country...

Todd patched the New Atlantis Loot Crates right after spiffing's video came out. HE'S WATCHING
They were moved after his first video. I believe this was recorded before the patch
@@aiedenoldstien9751 sorry lad thats what i meant
For unarmed, try investing in stealth aswell for the 8x damage mutipler on melee sneak attacks.
Being able to punch faster with your guard up is unironically the most realistic part of all of this.
We have boxed
Reanu Keeves may not be our protagonist in this particular story, but bless Todd Howard for allowing Reanu to transcend the boundaries of an atmosphere and spread his influence across all of space and time.
The cutter (mining laser) is one of the most op weapons in game. You see with the laser perks maxed out, you have a chance to set enemies on fire. Now you would think that the cutter counts as one hit, but ut does not it counts as a few hundred hits / second, so you get the burning debuff on enemies really fast, and because the burning debuff takes a set percentage points/ tick ohhhh and it does stack my tea drinking friends, you can kill terrormorphs in a few seconds, and whabam, there you go, one of the most perfectly balanced weapons in the game. You’re welcome 😁😈
The laser skill was the first one I maxed out and used the cutter exclusively for almost half the game while I was stockpiling ammo for the true beasts.
gotta love some industrial equipment battle tactics. conduit bender to the knees for the win!
@@GyroZeppel it’s a pretty good tactic wouldn’t you say? 😁
@@abelincoln7473 yesssssss, did someone order bbq terrormorph? Extra well done, sprinkled with a bit of nuke? 😁😈
@@oliviamoore3426 it certainly is a lot of fun. I’m level 86 now and I still use it against terrormorphs because it seems like they are extremely vulnerable to fire 🔥
Reminds me of my FO4 playthrough with the Wolverine mod. Insane regen, resists to conditions so high you're basically immune, and claws that can murderize _everything._
You can do that style build in fallout 76 with vampire weapons lol
Wow. Sounds like being a werewolf on Skyrim.
I love this vid, more of these challenge videos please!!! I've sunk like 14 days into the game and finished most side quests and collected all collectibles and unique weapons/armours/achievements. Now I just enjoy watching the community. Keep it up bossman
You can tell this video was originally made a little while back or he didn't update his game, as the chest's were move in the last update. The chests in the ground isn't a thing anymore.
Forget fixing the exploits, I just want...
1) The outpost interlink system to WORK, especially with regards to helium; I have to have helium production in every star system just to export to my main base as importing from a megafacility in my main star system doesn't work right, meaning I need TWO bases in each system and we only get 24 outposts to play with when there's already more than a dozen unique resources along with all the various rare and uncommon resources...
2) The ability to sort/split the resources from interlinks so I can find just where in my storage-jungle my tungsten is hiding
3) Minor spoilers, but when we finish the main quest, I want to keep my scanned info. Yeah yeah, the universe gets reset, but I should still know where all the resources are!
Love your videos. I am hoping for 12 years of Starfield videos so keep em coming
I think you are missing some damage options here. I believe that if you stun everyone, you can then sneak, and do massive sneak attack damage on each one to finish them off.
If you think about it, the whole having your fists up to box faster makes perfect sense because that's how boxing works. Keep your hands up at all times! Perfectly balanced gameplay.
When I first saw that Starfield has several perks for unarmed melee, I thought I could make a character focused on that. Flying through space, punching dudes in the face. But just the fact that there's no button to switch to Unarmed was enough to stop me from doing that.
And it also became clear quickly that all those Unarmed perks are actually shit. It doesn't matter that you can increase Unarmed damage by 100%, because doubling no damage is still no damage.
If there were unarmed weapons to increase the base damage those perks might be worth a damn. XD
Yeah, kinda disappointed that a run like that would probably really tedious, esprecially on higher difficulties.
Guess we gotta wait for modders to fix it, like always.
Yeah he relies on early game glitches here that have already been patched. Nothing to actually make the build better when the game levels off with you
@@TheXell Buying Bethesda Games tends to come with Bethesda issues like that though.
i agree with you but also want to let you know if you hold your unsheathe/sheathe/reload button with your gun out it brings out fists :)

I like how Todd gets all the credit for this game

You as well!
Lol this reads like Spiff is the F word. 🤣
You too!
4:16 I choose to believe you were punching the buttons. Unarmed only challenge still on track!
Fancy setting you here, man! Love your vids. Keep up the good work, mate!
My man! Salami Krieg 😂
Todd Howard sounds like a wonderful person. Handsome , dapper, ladies man, and philanthropist of the likes you rarely see these days.
6:18 You don't need to use the menu to go back to your ship. Just aim your scanner towards your ship and click the use button.
Good to hear ES4 Oblivion's blocking causing you to have a shorter attacking/casting animation is bleeding over into new games.
It's the same engine, with some updates, so it's no surprise the same tricks keep working in every game...
this game really is oblivion 2 with none of the soul
@@Monko_popit's got a little charm but it's not like walking through a meadow with pretty music after blowing up goblins
bethesda really should change their engine
It's an engine feature now like with Airstrafing of the source engine, but shittier.
13:45 That's the same exploit I use when I'm playing Oblivion. Spells cast much faster when you hold block at the same time. Todd Howard, you son of a gun.
Great work bro. Just keep going. Always be with you.
Advice for the Red mile... don't take the elevator down, you are already outside, you don't need to.
Work on maxing boost pack... then you can actually boost skip from the platform the entire way to the beacon, and then boost skip back to the elevator... no enemies needed.
Was listening intro as a podcast and the moment i looked at what have you created, I almost spitted my tea . What a majestic creature Spiff
That you still can access traders chests more than a decade after Skyrim was first exploited is insane 😂🎉
Yeah no they patched that on week 2 of release you can't do that anymore
@@MrJoshcc600 you still can in Skyrim, but I wasn't talking about Skyrim, but about starfield (this video, he accessed the chests here)
@@braindecay9477 I feel that the Skyrim chests carry more weight because people have used them for so much content that Bethesda probably decided to keep them. The Starfield chests are quite new so patching them out wouldn't affect the community that much
As if they actually cared about the 'community'
I think the Freestar Ranger quest line is pretty difficult to do with fists only. At least with the main quest you get space powers along the way that help a lot.
Lmao! Love this guy. He's the only youtuber I know that can make a half hour feel like 7 to 10 minutes. Time flies when you're having fun!
Truly a shame you can no longer loot merchant’s chests
Yes, it reminded me of the Dawnstar chest in Skyrim, which still isn't patched to this day.
@@lance134679 because it's clearly a intended feature
Yeah... now you've got to actually play the game
@@TheSometimeAfter lol, “play”, you mean grind out credits to buy what you want? You watch TSB because he “has to play the game”, be less disingenuous.
@@JohnSmith-qm5xuthere are way better exploits for credits than the merchant chests. Spiff is just an old dog that hasnt learned the new tricks
When I saw people explain why Unarmed and its skills are useless, I knew Spiff was feverishly working out a way to make it overpowered.
Edit: Sadly he has failed. Our Lord and Savior Todd has forsaken us!
Oh my, I was so SO hoping that you would do exactly this!
In case anyone actually does want to do an unarmed build. Youll need suit mods and the right perks. But most importantly it gives you reason to use more powers and is actually very fun.
Life forced and moon form are game changers for melee/unarmed play
Spiff wanted to make a gorgeous alien guy, but he just made awesome mustache Asmongold 😂
This went from Dollar Store Doom Slayer to Gotta go Fast
Once you see the resemblance, you can't unsee it.

I'm already looking forward to your 11 hour montage of Starfield content, Spiff. To be fair, I'll only have to wait half as long for that 11 year mark as I had to wait for Starfield to come out. GGs, bro.
It's time to show everyone the true power of the starchild, with every punch the starchild imparts the energy of an entire star.
To help with co2 drain in fights you can use the personal atmosphere power as you deplete your co2 to instantly replenish it and get unlimited co2 for a little bit.
Moon form is also a great power to use for melee
I’ve checked every day the last week in hope that this video would appear. There is nothing better than the spiffing brit and a Bethesda game 👌
'Field of the North Star: The Fisting' huge stomach churning expansion package.
One of the origins gives you the targeting ability, meaning you can kill the enemy ship engines in the space tutorial, board and punch them to death.
So it is quite possible to kill the tutorial enemies entirely with punchies.
You can only board the last ship alive, and you fight two at once during the tutorial, so you can’t punch them all.
@@Skyblade12 ...I boarded a ship while the other was still flying about.
So maybe more testing is needed. Been playing via cloud on XBONE.

I did my first playthrough as unarmed and had a lot of fun, but I used the sneak attack mechanics to do a lot more damage with the punches. worked out great!
Great to see more content chap!

Its been a month. If yall are happygiving cp77 3 years we can give bethesda a few months
@@dickyboi4956Well, it's not the speed but the priority. Game breaking bug? Nah fam, can't have people getting rich quick in a single player game!
@@dickyboi4956 never played cyber punk so how can I compare the 2?
Im willing to bet that the only reason games like Oblivion and Skyrim are still played so much today, its BECAUSE of the jank. If they fixed all the bugs amd exploits, amd released a nice clean well perfirming game, people woukd play it a few times and it would die. The comedy keeps people coming back and makes it iconic.
I mean... bigger bugs might be more complicated so they might take more time to fix and test to see the fix didn't break something else? Sure, it's Bethesda, who knows if they'll ever get fixed, but a month is not a lot of time to do this shit.
Impressive. Maxing stealth and pickpocketing to be able to remove weapons might help this build a bit.
I'd love to see you come back to this with some of the later perks available to you for melee. This was fun.
Todd and YT must really love spiffing brit, they Dedicates an entire team just to just watch his vids and patch things
I love perfectly balanced gameplay. Thank you, your Tea-lordship!
Glad you enjoyed!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Sonic music during the Red Mile run. Nice touch. ;)
It was great hearing Ron Hope's voice done by an Elder Scrolls/Fallout legend Wes Johnson, who did a lot of deity voices in Elder Scrolls.
Tod is really pushing the technology with those damage numbers.
I never imagined an unarmed build to be so effective!🤩
First - I truly enjoy your videos - extremely fun and polished delivery! Second - despite your near brilliant attempt at persuading me otherwise, I'm not really sure I think that proving that unarmed combat is a much slower slog in terms of killing your enemies compared with using the moderate array of lethal weapons available is a reasonable point. Third - i do agree that the ability to maximize this approach should be coupled with more dynamic fighting animation patterns and perhaps options with investment in martial arts leading to use of kicks, and increases in overall attack speed. Fourth - absolutely these attacks should have some scaling with level.
Perhaps they could also add a way to customize your unarmed attacks so that you get a few different options that you can use that would appear as separate weapons which you could then use the favorite key to place in your hotbar. For instance, if each tier of martial arts gave you 3 new martial weapon attacks that then appeared permanently in your inventory as weapons you could place in this manner, it would let you customize your martial arts character nicely. The 3 options might include "rapid punch", "snap kick", "submission hold" [tier 1], "elbow strike", "flying kick", "eye strike" [tier 2], "karate chop", etc, etc With clear information as to the attack speed, damage, perhaps range or special effects for each. THAT would make martial arts a fun thing to take to offer close combat options for many builds.... Thanks for the fun and the inspiration! JW
Perfect timing :))
Should of gone for a stealth fister build... give people a shocking surprise 😅.
It's really great to see the father of the Island Bois putting a good name in for their family again as an Astronaut.
Hell yeah! Another game from the myth, the legend himself!!
IT JUST WORKS!
😂 always fun❤
Only a guy like Spiff would think up the pun "The Count of Monte Fisto." What a guy!
It's one of Apollo Creed's ring names dude!
I can only think about La Fistinière now. Thanks, that's great.
You brought Charlie Garcia back to life in a Todd Howard's universe. Perfectly balanced.
Decided to change my jump key to a spare mouse button and yes, the pack works so much better. Hated the button change so I went into Razer Synapse and changed my space bar to be that mouse button when playing Starfield. Worked like a charm. And yes, it is SOOOOOO much better.
How have I not heard about this before??? Which is the bug, I wonder?
@@Ubayla I dunno. In the trailer a year ago, when it showed the boost and them firing on the spacers, the boost sure pushed him forward. After using it playing today I feel like this is how it was intended. The boost pack actually feels like more than just a shitty ladder.
I hope during ur power leveling u were increasing the difficulty before landing then decreasing after spawning in animals for easy kills and tones of XP 👌
Never question Todd's perfect design.
The eyes of the HOPE TECH guy looking like Tiber Septims eyes in Oblivion

i started watching thinking it would get pretty interesting once he got to the starborn but hopefully theres another video with that since the powers might make it better to use against some of the encounters that have lots of enemies
I'd love to see him break out the psychic asthma inhaler and space hadouken (I joke but legitimately I think it could be neat to see)
You know it's the wrong kind of broken when even Spiff can't brake it.
Oh, it can be broken. Spiff just didn't know all the strats at the time. You can get Nuerostrikes and Concealment maxed, knock everyone out, and finish them with sneak attacks. In fact, you don't even need to knock them all out. Sneak attacks trigger on unconscious targets even if other enemies detect you. Also, Isolation effects Unarmed damage, as does Red Trench and the secondary effect of Grav Dash (increasing damage). Basically, use chems, be alone, and Grav Dash towards an enemy and you can deal 115% more damage. Once they are unconscious all that crit damage from crouching and power attacking them is calculated. That means 10x sneak multiplier MULTIPLIED by 115%. Plus, you can infinitely stunlock unconscious enemies, since as they try to get back up (if they survive the first crit), you just knock them back out again.
Nuerostrikes also has some weird unexpected synergy with things you don't expect. Two great examples of this are Mirrored and Grenades. If you have a Mirrored legendary Spacesuit any reflected damage counts as EM damage, and even still has the chance to knock out an enemy instantly. So an enemy shooting you across the room can accidentally knock themselves out. Even more funny is if you throw a grenade, the blunt impact can deal EM damage. So you can knock an enemy out by hitting them directly with a grenade, and they're unable to run to cover from the explosion.
With the proper build and some Powers (Void form is amazing with Unarmed) you can be outright broken, especially with the blocking animation cancel for Power Attacks.
The Sonic music during the red mile run made me so happy.
You’ve really outdone yourself with the beautiful character creator this time
idk if it would take mods or not, but im ready to see you do a mele-only ship build. like is ramming even a thing? massive sheild and some pointy bits up front?
It is. Ive had a few instances where i had a ship at low health and boosted into it. Not sure how much damage it actually does, but its a thing. Viable option? I highly doubt it. Still an attack option? Yes.
Your character creation skills are second to none spiff!
Great Video. Hopefully they add gear that is punching orientated such as brass knuckles or power gloves (from Fallout 4) that are modable so you can shoryuken with flaming fists
Glorious 2023 standard of gaming... and glorious to watch you breaking it
I love that the unarmed build is mostly about how to avoid combat
