      I find songs like this are slightly easier to sing because the tone is much more natural. You can just let the words come out if you will. Definitely need a mature voice though

    its unfortunate that not many ppl know how great a musician john mayer is, hes one of the most educated musicians there is out there, and no doubt hell be one of the greatest guitarists of the century

    man to me i think this is the coolest thing john mayer has ever done
    his jazz guitar playing is flawless and it just goes to show how versatile he really is and for those out thre who just think its wierd or dont like it, its because your not used to it, try to be open to new things
    i think john could have stated out as a jazz musician

    yeah, and the other guitarist is mark whitfield - who is one of the best jazz guitarists in the world, especially in the hard bop genre. i think this is really funny and i like the positive vibe of this performance.

    believe it is a gibson L-5, he is using it because this is really jazzy, and a L 5 sounds better then a strat for jazz, i have seen mayer use a 335 before as well

    Like this version a lot and yes I do realize that his singing is getting better and better.. compare 'Any Given Thursday' and 'Where the light is', his singing skills are getting better.. but girls still love that breathing technic of his =D

    I know, I mean this whole style of music, including Mr. Sinatra. Jazz & Blues etc. gets me in a real Christmas mood, more than actual Christmas hits, cause those make me wanna kill myself xD

    i think we need to show a little appreciation for Chris Botti on trumpet too. Unfortunately, Botti is not featured much in the song but he really is an incredible musician. Maybe i'm wrong, but it bothers me that the only thing people can pay attention to these days is guitar/bass/drums, etc...music is always given a bad rap if there is brass instruments or saxs or a "jazz" feel. Hate to break it to everyone, but all contemporary music has its roots in jazz. dont get me wrong, i love john too!!!

    That's world class jazz guitarist Mark Whitfield--I guess he's rhythm guitarist on this, but he's a badddddddd ass--equal to Botti in talent.

    @RIPGarymoore I wouldn't go that far... David Letterman is on daily and there are only so many mainstream musicians his show can pluck out of thin air to perform a set. X Factor is far too appreciated in it's homeland however, rather unlike the US's reaction to our "Idol" import.
