Hi Noah, I'm a cis older gay man, and I watch your channel to learn more about trans issues and challenges. I've done a lot of volunteer work in LGBTQ non-profits over the years and worked with trans men and women. But I never felt like I understood their personal challenges and so I wanted to educate myself. I enjoy watching you because I relate to your sense of humor and that you're a very grounded and self-aware guy. Anyway I thought I'd share my testosterone experience hoping you might find it helpful. I had low testosterone and so I started using the daily gel. The gel worked well. It is another thing you have to do every morning, but you have that 4 hour window where you can't do anything that might cause you to sweat or wash it off like swimming. Then my doctor changed me to the pellets that they put under your skin every 3 months. I didn't like the implanted pellets. You get that drop in T for a week to ten days before your due for new implants. Obviously I take less T then you, but I'm currently on weekly self injections with a short needle so I'm not getting the scar tissue. The weekly injection pen works best for me. So good luck to you!

@Cam Morrison, since you don't know me, your uninformed opinion is worth less than anything president trump says!
If it wasn't for me and my generation, as well as those that fought before me, Noah wouldn't have a channel, or any civil rights, or medical care to make his transition possible. Also idiots like you wouldn't be able to spew your worthless accusations here or anywhere else.
If Noah wants to ask me questions he is certainly welcome to do so.

    Hi
I'm from Germany and we have mainly two types of Testosterone: Gel and Injections. We have different types of injections. 1000mg which you get every three month, one, which you get every two weeks and one you get every 4 weeks
I started with Gel for half a year and then I started with injections every 11 weeks (about 3 month). I like injections more than the gel, but both do exactly the same: they let you get your puberty.
Here in Germany, many doctors recommend starting with gel to get used your body to testosterone, and than later getting the injections

Thats AWESOME that you're finally able to switch to a different type of T. The minute i saw the title i was hoping thats what it was . Ive followed you for a while and watched your ups and downs and i even left comments suggested switching to a diff. type before but i remember i think you said it had something to do with insurance only covering the standard shots (stupid medical industry. i know how that is with my own issues with insurance NOT covering the drug that would actually work for you and only covering like the shitty generic substitutes, etc) It must have SUCKED to have to go through those Ups-and-Downs like that for so long. Having your hormones go up and down like that constantly just makes you feel weird and icky. I'm nonbinary ,I dont take anything for that specifally but I also have endometriosis and concurrent hormone issues that go with it where they were just all over the place for years. I take hormone blockers now on the daily and just blocking my hormones completely has been freaking amazing for my physical health but also my mental health. the pain of endo was bad enough to deal with but the up and down mental stuff and wanting to claw myself out of my own skin feeling is gone as well. hormones are nuts. glad you're gettin' yours sorted FINALLY! its been a long time coming and hope this works a LOT better for you!

I did shots for almost my whole first year of being on t and just like your experience I hated it. Last month I tried pellets and it did not go well for me. Over the course of a month they fully rejected and floated up through my skin and I had to get them removed and when they were removed my doctor said he was so shocked because 1) he had never seen this happen before and 2) the pellets never dissolved even a bit and they should have been dissolved at least half size. But because they didn't dissolve, that meant I was accidentally off of testosterone for a month without knowing it. Now on back on shots for a few months and we may or may not try again with the pellets in june.

Best thing I’ve ever done for myself is sticking to the gel. It’s made a HUGE difference. All of the inconveniences you’ve described about shots are so real and I was experiencing them and though it wasn’t a big deal. Now that I’m on the gel I don’t get any ups and downs and my levels are perfect :) Also I was afraid I would see less of the effects of testosterone when going on gel but that’s a myth. @@kayvon-h3905 Thank you for this. I've been trying to find something to help get rid of them or at least make the hot flashes not as intense. I started getting them mid October of last year and I've been on T for a little over two years. And since then, they has progressively gotten worse and more frequent. I appreciate the info.

I had the choice to do my injection once a week or once every 2 weeks. I chose once a week because I heard of the ups and downs because of the levels changing. I dont experience too many bad effects. I was exhausted for months when I first started, but now that I'm in the right range I feel pretty good. Maybe a bit tired the day before my shot, but that's it.
I hope the gel works out for you. It's too expensive where i live, so the injections will have to do for now

"it sounds pathetic, it's just a hormone" As a gay Cis woman, I take hormones daily to help balance myself out (IK its not T and it may be different) but many people take hormones daily, AND WE GET IT ❤️ It can be quite a journey to pick which birth control works best with your body, and I'm sure its a similar situation with anyone who is trans and on hormones. For anyone struggling with this, it sucks, we understand the struggle and know that it might feel like its taking forever, but you will eventually find what is right for you ❤️

I'm on the path to getting T privately, and I don't know how much choice I'll get in the type of T that I'll be on, but I hope it's gel. I know the effects are supposed to be slower and more subtle over time with gel, but the reasons you described sound like what I've already researched in terms of the pros and cons of injections vs. gel. My mental health is also pretty bad and I don't think I would cope well with the peaks and troughs. I do have sensitive skin though so hopefully the gel doesn't mess with my skin too much

I was put straight onto a full dose of 4 pumps a day and my doctor said I should expect the same changes as you would get on shots. It didn't realy smell much and I applied it with gloves because of sensory issues with my hands. I have realy sensitive skin, i will get a reaction to most creams or gels but nothing from the testogel.

Im also using gel. Been 3 weeks. Im very happy. I dont get no mood swings and I feel like due to the stable levels and consistency changes happen much slower but also more naturally... dunno if I could describe this well. But I love it.
Obviously like you said the cons are you have to apply it every day, preferably the same time, and dont touch anyone till it dries... it also sticks to your clothes.. which for me takes like 1,5 hours till I can let my shirt sleeves down again or my shorts. It is recommended to change where its applied each day. This can be a pain as you probably cant always have the time to do it at the same time, let alone give it another 1,5 hours to dry, if you got a job or an appointment or literally just life happening. That's gonna be hard to keep up with. With this quarantine thing going on its nice, I dont have to worry about these things. But when life hits again its gonna be hard. Though I dont think its too bad if you cant make it in time for once and apply it a few hours later or earlier... or even if you miss a day.
    The only cons I'd say.

I inject idk how much but it’s the same amount for everybody, the only thing that varies is the time in between injections. So for me it’s every 14 weeks and i get one week with high levels of T right after i inject myself and one week of low levels of T at the end of the 14 weeks. I think that, at least for me, nebido is perfect cuz you don’t have to worry about it for a super long time and the T levels u get with it are pretty consistent.

I've been on T for just over two years now & am in the same boat. I'm gonna be switching as well because of pain & anxiety. My muscles also have been very tense for the last bit so trying to inject myself is so painful & not great. It's been so bad that I haven't been able to do my shot in a month, it sucks.Which has caused weight to gain in places I don't want, which causes dysphoria, which is great. Im also wanting to switch to gel. I'm in Canada and the testosterone I'm on is, testosterone cypionate. it smells super sweet, which I'm gonna miss but I'd rather just not cuddle my boyf for 4 hours then go weeks unable to do my shot so yeah, I feel you dude. Anxiety sucks & having tense muscles & having to also go through scar tissue isn't fun. Best of luck!!

I’m on gel (tostran pump) and it does dry strangely. I wouldn’t say crusty, just a bit dry and flaky. I’m on gel instead of injections because mood swings are part and parcel of my mental health situation and we definitely don’t need any encouraging for those to happen. Stability is nice.
It’s a lot better using the pump than the gel sachets used to be - they were very watery and there was lots of it, whereas one pump of the canister gives a nice concentrated dose of gel rather than this watery mess. So four pumps (which is my dosage) makes for a nice experience. Good luck with the change over Noah and look after yourself! Stay safe and well 💖
