You know your getting old when a car you once owned is now considered a barn find. Man.....
If I had it to restore, I'd go back to the original yellow.
The car is a 1988 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe. This was a one year only model. 1989 saw the return of the RS, which was the exact same car as this, but with mono paint schemes, and RS badges to replace the Camaro badges. This car is equipped with GM's venerable 2.8 liter V6, which was punched out to 3.1 liters for the 1990 model year. Since the Z/28 nameplate was dropped for the 1988 model year, the Sport Coupe got the wheels and ground effects package that came standard on the previous model Z/28, while the IROC Z became its own model, instead of an option on the Z/28, and the Z/28 badges were dropped from the IROC Z models, in favor of IROC Z badging. The Z/28 returned for 1991, due to Chevrolet not renewing their contract with NASCAR'S IROC series, and was produced through the end of the 1992 model run. 1993 saw the introduction of the 4th generation Camaro/Firebird, where the base engine grew one last time, to 3.4 liters. Anything else you'd like to know about these cars ?
I think the nests in the mirrors are wasp nests, not bees. Wasps will make a nest about anywhere out of reach or hard to reach.
I don’t understand how you find these cars
The 2.8 was actually a great engine, bulletproof! Not super fast, but a great exhaust notes! There are people who throw turbos on them, and they actually move. Don’t knock a v6 Camero, they are good cars!
2.8 L V6 this looks like a 1986 Camaro but if you really want to know what the year is look on the driver side door and look for the tag and VIN number and it will tell you the year! My mom had one but Z28 variant with the 302 V8 Chevy it was the same color but had black hood vents so this is likely a 1986 model but a base variant!
It bothers me that you start at the bottom and work your way up when rinsing. My dad always yelled at me to start at the top and work my way down and that’s stuck with me😂
Those are NOT bees...they're wasps/yellow jackets. I had an infestation around my house this summer and learned a lot. They will nest wherever they can find any gaps.
I had a 1982 Z28 I bought it from a guy in Arkansas. I ended up trading it for a new 1992 Camaro RS which was the last year of this body style 25th anniversary car. I still have it, I'm currently having the body completely redone and the motor has been rebuilt. I will be putting it in some car shows this coming spring. I love the 5th gen Camaros.👍
There is nothing better than an older car in my opinion, they are simple(no tech to break later on) and they have alot of character as well as being reliable (if taken care of properly). Love them!!!!
1am in New Zealand and getting my WD fix! Always happy to see that notification pop up 👍🏼
I learned a lot from you guys. I always use a wheel cleaner and agitate with a soft brush when I wash my car and now my wheels shine like the paint. 👍
Great video guy. Always look forward to the new ones. Keep up the great work!
Mine sat in a field since 2013 and it's not this bad. It was full of rat nests, but after a carpet scrub it's actually really nice
This looks like a 2.8lt multi-port V6 in an 87 Camaro, I have been fascinated with these since I picked up a Firebird out of a chicken coup here in Australia, I then restored it and the parts for these two cars are all interchangeable.
we have to save these cars. amazing to see cars from the 90's are becoming barn finds! make me realize I'm getting old
You know it's going to look decent when you finish it.
1988 Camaro. The only year the Standard Base Camaros had Ground Effects with those rocker emblems. 87 Non Z28's did not have Ground Effects. In 89 it became the RS model. The rear spoiler that that car had was a 1/2 year only option on that specific model.
