It's kinda nuts how long it took Yoshitatsu to really come into his own. In the WWE he was a stereotype, in New Japan he got badly injured and could barely wrestle outside of bad comedy matches. In All Japan, he's absolutely KILLED IT
This is a bit old, but if you look up his ECW title match with Christian and his matches against Tyson Kidd on NXT and Superstars you can see a bit of hisbpotential coming out.
@@SDSOverfiendI’ve been showing that one specific clip to people since I first watched this video, a special example of something so simple looking violent and deadly
One thing I like about Ajpw is that they still follow the kings road idea of most wrestlers having way more than just 1 move that can reliably finish a match. Many wrestlers nowadays barely have 1.
@@pratikroy227 i still remembered his match with Minoru Suzuki ( Suzuki was the Triple Crown champ at that match). It was a non-title match but Tajiri won by tying Suzuki's foot on a microphone wire and won by count out and stole the belt. Fun match.
For those who'd might say these are too simple, that is entirely based on how the in ring product is presented. As the in ring work is all strong style and more "realistically grounded" the simplicity adds to the viciousness and grit. What I would critique personally is too many wrestlers using the same finisher. It makes for redundant finishes and in turn less exciting cards. It also lessen the individuality of the wrestlers, which makes it harder to stand out/get over. Still, alot of these are pretty interesting in my opinion.
1 - a lot of the wrestlers in this video are either freelancers or from other promotions, they come & go, 2 - Many "finishers", like Boston crab multiple times, are used only on young boys, 3 - AJPW is definitely not a "strong style", beside shoot guys, like Sato or Hijikata.
I don't mind the lariats and submissions, what confuses me is those victory rolls and small packages being used as finishers 😳 wtf kind of a finish is that smh
There has to something said for the use of a simple but effective "Old School" finisher. A Lariet, a big ass German suplex or even just a Piledriver does the job. I like that about AJPW, still maintaining that classic presentation.
Ajpw hasnt been very relevant since the 80s and 90s during the Kobashi,Vader,Misawa,Baba etc days so its good to see that you still acknowledge it .Could you do NOAH or old school ECW finishers? (Not WWECW days)
@@SuperWildsnorlax ajpw was easily the premier Japanese promotion of the 80’s and for most of the 90’s and now they’re barely relevant. They were more like the WWF/WCW of the late 90’s But their run spanned two decades as opposed to 5/6 years.

It really just shows how much of an impact Stan Hansen made over there in japan that so many of these guys use a clothesline or lariat for their finisher
It has more to do with the fact that AJPW follows the kings road idea of wrestlers not just having 1 finisher per say. Most have several unique moves that can end a match with varying frequency. For the most part they're not allowed to make noise with their mouths because of Covid. If you watch pre-2020 Japanese wrestling they do make noise when it's a big match, especially toward the end (check out the old school AJPW finishers video for how loud they can get).

Kudos for Masato Tanaka and Jun Akiyama still wrestling despite their age. You gotta respect that longevity.
