The best fish in the surf is on the second sandbar. I gave up wade fishing in the surf due to sharks.
I've always had best luck on the 2nd or 3rd, just depends where the fish are or clean water is

Galveston has less and less public access to the bay compared to 20 years ago.
Yes sir, it drives me crazy how they limit those who don't have boats. In my opinion no one should be able to limit your access to the states natural resources. It's in direct violation of your rights. Everyone should be allowed to fish the same coastal areas, whether your fishing by boat, bank, or wade fish.

I live in Daytona Beach Florida and I haven't been on the beach yet this year do to shark problems 🦈
They're every where, I heard they're worse this year
Was at terramar beach July 20-24. Tons of seaweed. No bait in the water. Talked to several other fisherman and only one had any luck. Few sharks and gaftop. We finally caught some 8” mullet Friday night and used as cut bait. Caught some gaftop Saturday morning but that was it. Fished Seawolf park on that Thursday morning. And nothing.
Waded on the left as we drove in and along the wall by submarine. Only one guy had caught a rat red.
Very disappointing since everything I was seeing the few weeks before that the surf was on fire and plenty people catching.
Had an older couple that lived there walking the beach were we where staying and he said he had never seen the water the way it was. Or the amount of seaweed.
Guess it’s just my luck.
That stinks, last few days the surf has been on fire again. 3-4-foot visibility

Yes, Academy, bass pro, pretty much any store with fishing gear. They might be out of stock because a lot of ppl buy them this time of year
