I can't wait for this project. I'll learn a lot. It does make me cringe when I think of the cost though. Good luck and thanks for letting us hang around.
Your a good person wes, thank you for taking the opportunity and using your platform to talk about this awful subject. Iv watched you for years and you have talked a
Now let the show begin! I'm glad you're rebuilding the 4960 and finally you got another interesting project in the pipe! I have to admit, you did improve your recording and cutting ability! BR Tom

Hey wes ive been watching ur page ever since i foud ur barn find 450 farmall on youtube and watched every video since really like ur page always look forward to what you have coming up next we were always a red family but we started investing in jd we have an almost mint 4650 and a 9500 combine and a couple older jds like a D jd and a GP and an old A keep up the good work man cant wait to see the 4960 back in the field!!!!
Going to be a great series Wes ! Best of luck to ya on sourcing the used parts and then finding the time to stitch it all back together :) I'm always watchin brother. Great channel here !
About 5 years ago had a 2955 fire. Fix was a Cab $4500,Hood $1000, Wiring harness $600,misc parts $2500 About 1/2 of tractor value. Still using it Today.
I've done a few cab changes, It can seem kind of overwhelming, but, it's not that bad. A little hint, go find one that's all together, take a few pictures for reference, and you'll save yourself some head scratching.
I drove a 4760 on a forage harvester for a couple days and thought it was one of the best tractors I've ever drove, if they brought that series back I don't think they would have a problem selling everyone they built. If you ever get a chance to drive one don't turn it down. Th
Know a farmer in the area that took 2 damaged 60 series and made a nice one. Pulls 8 row kmc strip till planter with 3 liquid tanks on the tractor each spring. Turned up hoss. Good project and it will pay off
Yea to many ass holes in this world Wes with nothing better to do than going around on U tube giving everyone the thumbs down .will be following the 4960 rebuild good you Cheers Glynn
I won't ever give you a thumbs down on any video you make,,I have enjoyed them immensely ,, of particular interest to me were the 4450 transmission series ,,and the 7810 power quad rebuild ,,I am learning a lot from watching you do it yourself ,,currently I am rebuilding a 445 Minneapolis Moline ,and I have done a 5020 Re-power ,,I replaced the original Deere engine with an 8V-92TT detroit diesel which came out of a large truck ,, a lot of guys use tractors modified like mine for tractor pulling ,,I don't I use mine for WORK ,,I got a jeep J-30 I use for pulling
Sure would be nice to find a parts machine have them sitting side by side swap what you need sell the rest. Like you said it should be a fairly easy repair looks like the cab was gutted and burned across the top of the engine. I guess until you start tearing into it then you will know what you got ahead of you.
I'm really glad to see that you plan to resurrect this machine, as you say finding many of the parts second hand will definitely help to lessen the financial pain, but, how difficult do you expect that to be within your time constraints? Are there any personal safety issues for you from the results of the fire? I know the emergency services are very wary about burnt out cars for some reason - what I don't know!
Yes, it is. The bad tire that he mentions in this video is the tire that he put the patch on. The patch is still on it though. It has a split on the inside sidewall.
Hey Wes, would you ever do this again if (god-forbid) it happens with another one of your tractors? And what is the hardest part of rebuilding a tractor in this condition?
Oh goody.. another project!... w/ accompanying costs.. Why do you want to fix it up? Why not just sell it.. other than you'll get a much better price for a working machine.. Make your time worth some bucks...
That's the kind of project that will nickel and dime you to death. I look forward to the end result and it will be interesting to see what the final $ amount is.
I can't wait for this project. I'll learn a lot. It does make me cringe when I think of the cost though. Good luck and thanks for letting us hang around.
Looking forward to watching you repair this tractor . I own a 4960 too and I love that tractor . the best JD had ever made.

LOL, I just have to sweep and I'll be all set. You need about a month to clean that crap hole up!!
Lauren industries in Quebec makes some nice replacement cabs
I'm really glad to see that you plan to resurrect this machine, as you say finding many of the parts second hand will definitely help to lessen the financial pain, but, how difficult do you expect that to be within your time constraints?
Are there any personal safety issues for you from the results of the fire? I know the emergency services are very wary about burnt out cars for some reason - what I don't know!
I changed the cab on our 4840 used the load and a chain on my 4320 and set it in place not to bad of a job really
Wish you a good luck with the john deere 4960
wheres part 2 i have been waiting on this project ever sence the tractor burnt
Can't wait too see it finished
The 60 series. Last of the best. It was all downhill from there.
I think up every video of your I watch
Compared to having wheels, do those tracks tear up the ground more when trying to turn?
Good old farmers workshop, full of "you never know when I will need this" stuff
cant wait for the next video about the old girl. Is there any concern about any thing wrong internally due to the heat?
is there that much foam and plastic on those tractors to make them burn with such a intense heat ?
Was this tractor from Europe or Aisa ? I see different lights hanging in the front and having short rear axles.
Europe is where i got it from!
How long do you expect this project to take?
Niiice... I wanna see this. Im gonna see this.
How did the tractor cetch fire anyway
Wes. Did you purchase that back from the insurance company or was it insured at all? Just curious.
they paid me for it then never picked it up.so after a year its abandoned!!
Why did it catch fire?
Wes where do you find the cabs I need one for my case 1394
is that the tractor you pt the patch on the outside of the of the tire?
Yes, it is. The bad tire that he mentions in this video is the tire that he put the patch on. The patch is still on it though. It has a split on the inside sidewall.
Hey Wes, would you ever do this again if (god-forbid) it happens with another one of your tractors? And what is the hardest part of rebuilding a tractor in this condition?
the hardest part is figuring out where everything goes
What caused it to Brun
If you decide to sell your ten tonne floor jack let me know!!!! I believe its a ten tonne.
big tractor we do have a 1066 that we fix because it burnt
First lol But really can wait to see the rest
what year is that tractor
will be good to see, is the cj2a still around?
Oh goody.. another project!... w/ accompanying costs.. Why do you want to fix it up? Why not just sell it.. other than you'll get a much better price for a working machine.. Make your time worth some bucks...
but working it will pay off the money needed to fix her...
What caused the tractor to burn up.
electrical fire. watch "more bad luck"
Interesting that the insurance company paid you off and didn’t take it
Pretty close to a Rolling Wreck.
yes it is but i miss this tractor so it will run again.
You are made the right decision to fix the tractor.
we also have a 4850
Howd it catch fire? Is there a video on it?
wire shorted out. and yes there is a video.
Nice video, just to let you know it is resurrection and not reserection.

That's the kind of project that will nickel and dime you to death. I look forward to the end result and it will be interesting to see what the final $ amount is.
