    Loved Allen’s dry sense of humor. This really brought me back to chatting with him at Mustang Central. Such a cool guy always willing to help us Fox guys in the late 90s. Was always a fun visit.

    Ive tried them all....NPD has been the best by far for me.......They actually will pick up their phones in a reasonable amount of time....knowledgeable staff.... prompt shipping...good stock of items and well packaged.

    Oh how glorious it must be to be able to call up a supplier and have a new floor pan arrive in a few days! Instead of spending a week starting with a sheet of fresh metal, then a lot of bending, cutting and welding.

      There is a ton of other work to be done. We hope to get down there in the coming weeks to show some more on that install. They pulled that ahead of other cars so we could shoot the episode. So there will be more on the car, just a little further down the road.

    You may have already answered this, but I didn't see it in the posts. If so I apalogise. I have checked your videos, and can not find the second half of this video. Could you send me the link to it, so I can watch it as well. Or if you could send me a link to a video to show toe panel installs that's my next step before putting in my one piece floor pan. Thank you, and really appreciate you doing these videos. They have helped me many times already on the 65 I'm building for my daughter. This is my first major resto job, and it would have taken my twice as long to do some of this if not for you guys , and Joe Daddy's. Thanks again.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  Před 7 lety

      First, thanks for the kind words! We were unable to get back down to Byron to shoot the pan install before the guys had to finish up. The toe boards are part of the firewall and not a separate piece, We'd use the full floor as our guide if we were going to toe board the car.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  Před 7 lety

      Hopefully you didn't do flat sheet steel. That will cause some serious "oil canning". There is a reason that Ford used the ribs. We install seat pans on this episode: czcams.com/video/XHi-cucEFd4/video.html

    How does a rotisserie change his suggestions for jacking the car? I also have cross bracing available since I am working on a 70 convertible mustang.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  Před 9 měsíci

      Well, I am not a fan of using a rotisserie for floors. Ford sat the cars on a jig table to lay that foundation and you will lack that on a rotisserie.

    How much do you think an outside shop would charge for replacing the entire floor pan like you did? I have an 81 Buick Regal.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  Před 8 lety

      Honestly, it will depend on the shop, the location, and the amount of work they have to do to get it in there. You can save a very small amount of money by removing the interior yourself. But we can't really pin down a cost just because it can vary literally street to street.

      @NickFortier Před 3 lety

      Howd the regal go? I just got a full pan yesterday for my 78 malibu. I've watched a few videos, but so far most seem to be unibody cars. Anyway, the biggest pain in the ass is separating all the seat bracing and whatnot. Air chisel....kinda gets it started, but I've found a sharp chisel and hammer finishes it swiftly. I'm going to assume, my 600 dollar part for this task would be at least 2 grand at a shop

      Yes; I'd actually prefer using them if the body is gutted. They are easier to adjust...but make sure that they are rated for the load.

      @@AutoRestoMod Yep. I live about 3 miles from where it was located. Too bad theyre gone. I’m starting a restomod of a 1962 Falcon 2 door sedan. Im thinking about trying to fit a 66 mustang front floor/ transmission tunnel to it so I can use the bucket seats and floor shifter. My floors are totally gone. I know they do make a full floor pan for a 65 Falcon too. I have the Mustang seat risers already.

    I swear there is someone ....somewhere who is putting razor blade sharpness on edges of new stampings. Cant tell you how many sliced and ripped fingers I have gotten over the years. And then the little fish hook barbs on some of the factory spot welds.....great skin rippers.

      Weirdly, we were talking about that just yesterday with the new Fender we got from NPD. But not just that, we have an export brace from Dynacorn that is the same way. The upper edges are very sharp; I'm actually going to dress the edges on all those things so I don't cut myself working on the car, lol.
