  • Bicycle Touring the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and cycling the lonely backroads. On this episode I am joined by Sonja to explore Isla Holbox, Ek Balam, X'Canche Cenote, Chichen Itza and go Cave Diving in the best Cenotes near Tulum, Cenote Angelita and Cenote Dreamgate.

    Bicycle Touring in Mexico and Yucatan Peninsula is totally safe as the people are so friendly and curious about a couple of Gringos on bicycles.
    This is part of my adventure to cycle and hike the most amazing places around the world. The journey involves spending most nights sleeping in a tent and eating budget local meals.

      I had something similar many years ago that led to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I used my time to watch videos and read blogs which inspired me to get out and do these things. Get well and get inspired.

    A professional retro grouch...
    I loved my Diamondback Apex mountain bike...in the bike industry, if they don't keep upgrading new stuff . . . They think they will have nothing to sell...if you are pedaling a bicycle, and you love it... Don't upgrade, keep riding it... It doesn't get better, just more expensive...

    Hi guys. Good job documenting your trip. Where I can read more about the bikes in terms of technical stuff? Thanks.

    Great trip, cave diving looks quite dangerous - amazing though. Great shots + well edited video.

      Cave diving was a safe (I am an experienced diver, but first time in cenotes) and amazing experience. Thank you for the kind words.

    What a great adventure. Did you buy the bikes in Mexico? Nice route suggestion through Mexico. Diving? Wow.

      The bicycles were bought in England and shipped across as part of normal luggage. They are a great bicycle, very strong. Diving was always part of the plan, but only in the most amazing places (depending on the cost and accessibility). HI. Hallo. I really enjoyed your videos and just realized you stopped making videos. Why ? Are you still on the road ? Are you still together, happy ever after ? What ever you are doing be well and happy and thanks for the great videos.

    Thanks for this beaut video. I live in Colombia now and I am trying to get a touring bike here. The problem is it's either a slick road bike or a mountain bike but nothing in between. These videos are most interesting and are giving me some ideas for my own travel plans. I just need the right bike. Perhaps I could get one sent from Australia?

      @bikehikesafari  Před 4 lety

      Mountain bikes make great touring bikes. They are tough and available in Colombia. Otherwise bikes from USA would be cheaper

    How did you secure your bikes and panniers when you were doing things like visiting the ruins and caves

    • @bikehikesafari
      @bikehikesafari  Před 4 lety

      I used a light cable and a small padlock. Never had issues. There was security at most but not all of the sites.
