Good game. I've played twice. Great shirt!!!
14:15 "So Jen's trying to kill two birds..." I thought the goal was to STUDY birds, not kill them! : P
That's quite an impressive-looking setup!
Or incredibly busy and unattractive.
Imlressive or Just too much.. Not Sure i would actually want to Play IT multiple times.
Maybe only with two Players but more? Not everyone has enough space for that
Great run through! I've been watching and waiting for this game to hit Kickstarter, this makes me want it more.
Very good explanation of the game! Thanks for playing and going through the different options right away! This was very helpfull 😃
Thanks for the runthrough. Interested to see how this one plays.
37.35 you have klingon subtitles that i think are incorrect, you gave completed the objective ( 2 blue reasearch tokens and be ahead of the beagle)
I'm very surprised everyone seems to prefer this over Newton. Newton seems like a much more streamlined version of this.
Also Rahdo, how do you head cannon the theme here? I find it tricky that players are collectively recalling and playing through his memories. Is each player a part of his psyche. Are we collectively playing Darwin? Does the end-of-round point loss if we are not close to the Beagle represent we were out of touch with a certain memory?
It is a strange one, or perhaps I am overthinking it? You are a top themer, how do you read it?
yeah, i'm not a big fan of the "reliving memories" thing. i like to think of it as each of us as a follow-up scientific vessel following in his footsteps doing further research inspired by the journey, but we're held to the standard of the beagle by our financiers :)
@@rahdo That's a great take on it. Certainly helps me to resolve the game's actions.
As an aside, I wish publishers would put more thought into a game's 'narrative of play' and how mechanics can fold into and support a theme.
Even games which don't seem thematic at first glance actually can be when you think about the card effects, resources and mechanics as referential to the theme.
Something like Lorenzo Il Magnifico may be criticised as just another soulless Euro but all of the cards in the game actually make sense as a dynamic relationship between mechanics and theme.
Building a cathedral requires lots of brick and some wood. Grants Faith points.
Receive Foreign Support. Gain lots of servants. It just makes sense.
If only every game played as smoothly as a song by Christopher Cross.
100k subs soooo close :3
how will we celebrate?
We should do a live stream party board game stravaganza
What that means? No clue
sorry to say i wasn't planning on doing anything (I also don't celebrate birthdays). but jen and i will be doing a live playthrough next week (live.rahdo.com) so we'll probably high five about it then :)
It looks really interesting. Visually I find it a little overwhelming, tbh. Not unattractive, but I find it hard to focus on what's going on. Must be my ADHD brain, lol.
Hey Rahdo, I came across this board game playthrough-er (czcams.com/video/xTWFuiEz-Dc/video.html&feature=emb_title) and thought that his handheld interjections reminded me a lot of your old-school, organic style. I earnestly wondered if you have/would/could consider this sort of device when zooming to view certain aspects during play?
I know some fans miss the (perhaps) more atmospheric eye-view of your channel of yolde and this sort of implementation, I feel would work well as part of your current set up.
I know your channel is going from strength to strength in terms of business and quantitive numbers but I do miss the original house style. As for qualitative feedback, I find a lot less value in your videos and never get through them as much as I used to. Perhaps this is a good thing as I am persuaded less and less to pull the trigger :)
thanks for sharing that, i really like his style! tbh though, i can imgagine how much extra work that would be in editing, and i don't have the stamina for it!
@@rahdo That is fair enough. After all, all I have to do is watch :)
Great play through. Convinced me the game is not for me.
I love this theme, but I'm hesitating because the set up looks so cluttered. Component love is battling with component overwhelm and messiness....
Good game, but probably will exhaust me just for set up and thinking about clean up. I'll pass.
Game appears on screen looking like a designer threw up on the table. That's me out!
This is how I know I couldn't be a board game reviewer. I look at this table and it's atrocious lol.
Richard handles these messy, heavy Euros with ease so I don't have to.
So sick of seeing the 'Includes paid promotion' disclaimer. Clearly publishers know who needs to be bought to ensure their game's success. Patreon or being paid by publishers...make a choice.
sorry you're not capable of ignoring the subjective opinion (since you seem to think i'm a liar) and that you can't use the objective gameplay demonstration to draw your own conclusions. shame really.
What on Earth are you on about, Brian?
