I read your book and am excited to see videos on here as well! I am planning my first expedition to Kauai as I speak and was getting the details on the backpack for a 3 day hike over there. This is all super helpful information and I look forward to the quest!

I have the same tent! Picked it up at an REI Garage Sale for much cheaper than it's original price! Can't wait to use it now.
I reallly love this video!! A lot!! Someone that care about fire, knife and first aid kit as well as water and nav is my kind of backpacker! Everything else can be improvised. We have more or less same base weight and not cutting on anything. But I am on a slightly heavier side which is great as I have Silky saw with me also and food and stuff for my dog also 😂
Look at PCT gear lists, DCF tent, quilt, much lighter sleeping mat and smaller backpack, around 40-45L max. 7 oz or less rain jacket and also cut down on your cook kit.

What compression sack/size do you use for your nemo sleeping bag?

Good stuff. But that Nemo tent is Straight Garbage in rainy weather. I HAD one.

I mean, I'm not a weight-weenie, but 20 lbs is a bit un-necessary if you just trimmed back a bit of non-need like stuff sacks, etc.
