Born in 1962 I grew up with the Donnie and Marie Show. Little Bit Country, little Bit Rock N Roll. I grew up Baptist but converted to the LDS church in 1983 just before my 21st birthday. I saw Donnie in person at University Mall in Provo in 1984 when I was buying a suit for my mission to Japan. All of the Osmonds had that million dollar smile. How could you be anything but 100% happy with a smile like that? Right? Well, from my own experience of trying to live up to the standards of the LDS church which makes it very easy to be hard on yourself for not being perfect enough, I realize the pressure they all were under must have been incomprehensible. I wish them all the best. I wish closure for them with each other and what they went through. I wish them health and happiness going forward. I wish them peace and rest.

Their lives almost parallels the Jackson's? Both came from large families, faith was prominent in their lives, both groups started at a very young age, they were popular during the same decade and their fathers groomed them relentlessly, and both fathers were domineering. I think both the Osmonds and the Jacksons put on brave and happy faces for the world in those early years because they did not want to disappoint their fathers because the consequences may have have been just short of child abuse. I cried watching the brothers coming to terms with their upbringing, life journeys and with each other. They sacrificed much for us their fans. What a great price they have had to pay. Thank you so much for the music and Joy that you all brought to the world.

Rochelle Amadeo Donny and Michael said years ago that’s why they became very good friends..kindred spirits. When I was a kid during that era the powers that be made it look like they hated each other ..in school kids made into a racial thing..black kids the J5 white kids or in my East Harlem school it was the puerto rican Kids...Osmonds. I fell into the trap being a young black girl who loved Michael Jackson, we were told the Osmonds copied off the Jacksons and they must be hated. 🤦🏽‍♀️When I became an adult I learned it was all a lie! Both families were tremendously talented but emotionally damaged. Both families were controlled by their record companies and public relation puppeteers that created the phony competition.
Oh a fun fact.. their moms Katherine Jackson and Olive Osmonds share a birthday!

Anne Liesveld I think in some ways they were damaged one of the Osmond brothers wanted to be a Dr. and another one wanted to go into the Air Force and be a pilot and their father said No!!! I think it’s because the parents wanted to live off their fame. Donny and Marie have been on TV since they were like toddlers. The original plan was for them to make enough money to pay for Virl and Tom’s hearing aids. I think when the money started rolling in it was to good to pass up. The Osmond children payed the ultimate price. It’s truly a wonder they are as well adjusted in their adult lives.

It must have been worse than hell for them! Can you imagine 20, 22, 24, and 26 year old male performers being subjected to that" life" today?! This documentary shocked me! Have been an Osmond can since 1971, cried myself to sleep with an intense love and devotion for these beautiful, talented brothers, Donny was my God esp
Especially, they were my childhood! But so sad and shocked to know just how sad there childhoods were, you just never know what's really going on in people's lives! How sad this made me feel! But thank god you all went through it together! and can talk about the hurt, the fear, the real sacrifices you all endured to give us the fans, the happy childhoods you never got to live! I love you all for saving so many lives with your music, your empathy, but most of all for your honesty, strength and total love of each other throughout your troubled lives! You can now be free! Thank you x

I wasn't a big Osmond fan, it was David Cassidy for me. But I did like many of their songs, and watched the Donny and Marie show as a teen. I hadn't realized how gifted they all were until hearing the singing here.
They are all sweet, earnest and insightful, and their stories are moving. I really enjoyed this.
(Footnote: my brother worked on Donny's car decades back and told me he was a good guy.)
