So much clickbait just to listen to some random guy's opinion... I promise, I'm not a shill... or am i? ;) lol omg jk rofl
*for real tho... not sponsored by Rev Grips... but I probably would take one... in another 3 years when my new grips wear out hahahahaha
How are they for the I hate gloves if it’s not too cold outside crowd?
@@yzedf I actually PREFER to ride without gloves... I just have learned to wear gloves, because i crash too much and ALWAYS cut up my hands without gloves...
I still prefer the Large, when gloveless...more rubber, and i feel like it's tackier...
Although, like i said... I'm always wearing gloves now, so I can't say i have "tons" of experience riding with them glovesless...sorry...
@@TheCrashingDad nope that’s good to hear. Thanks!
I have been rocking these for about 2 years and love them!! Great vid Sheyn once again !!! Keep up the great work!! Going back to bed now to early!!
Lol...I JUST woke up 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
Agreed! Everything you said is spot on. I've been using them for about 18 months now. Very satisfied!
Noice! 🤘🏼
Glad to know that I'm not the only one! 💪🏼😎🤘🏼
I didn’t know what rev grips were until now 👍
ESIs working well for me, but if I develop hand or arm pain I agree, $90 is way better that an MD bill or quitting riding. It is hard to justify cheaping out on $15 grips you don’t really like when riding $2500+ bike.
Noice 🤘🏼
Yeah, I love esi 🤷🏼♂️ I just shred them to peices every 2 weeks 😂
Still need to learn how to mtb 😐
I have considered buying these a few times. I don’t really have hand pain, was just interested in seeing how they feel. I really like my Oury’s. Great edit btw. Super entertaining for a video where 90% of it is just you talking to the camera. Kept my attention the whole way. 👍
Oh man, that means alot 🤘🏼
Yeah... It's hard to keep interest with just talking 😂🤦🏼♂️
If you don't have hand pain or arm pump issues, then I don't know if it's be beneficial... Maybe if you wanted to bling up your ride 😂🤘🏼
Been using and loving RevGrips for about three years too and though I have tried others before and after I just keep putting them back on. I too started with the thinner grip and was unhappy enough to return them but Rev asked why abs when I told them I felt the grip itself was too hard they sent me the middle size for free. That helped enough that when I wore those out I ordered the fattest as replacements and have been happy ever since. My only teaming gripe is that I also love My TOGS and have to dremel them to get them to fit over the larger-than normal Rev collar. Worth it though!
Oh wow... I LOVE hearing other customer service stories like this from them ..
I know I don't get special treatment 🤘🏼
Great review, Ive run different types/sizes of ergons too for a long time and like the feel of em but still always find myself having hand/wrist pain after long rides, gonna have to give these a try.
Noice 🤘🏼
Yeah... I think Ergon does a GREAT job.... I'm down to just running their saddle tho 🤷🏼♂️
Man, the whole start of the video felt like it was me who scripted the video: I've tried ALL kinds of grips, including the ESI and Ergon ones. I did enjoy the Ergons, but I still have a lot of pain in my hand and fingers when riding with them.
I just ordered a large set of Revgrips and I can't wait to give them a spin! Really hope it'll help with the pain I'm dealing with.
I find it fun the way you explain the perfectionnist mtb builder/testter who push till he crash type of dude!
Hahaha..thanks Rider! 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
Sheyn our grip journey has been almost identical all the way down having issues.. that the fine folks at RevGrips helped me resolve .. customer service is amazing .. and the grips are a cut above for sure .. great review .. I just got some sweet turquoise ones to match my dentist bike.. worth every penny ..👊🏻
Dentist Grips 😎💪🏼
Thats why i dont see the dentist anymore, so i can afford sweet bikes! Yeah!
Might have to order the medium set with a large replacement so I can try both...
Nice review. Been running mine 2 years. Time to replace the grips. Nice to see they improved the inserts and offer repeat customers a trade in discount / upgrade kit.
It’s nice to see them progress… especially with the new 3mm clamp bolts… 😅
I don’t get pain as such, but i get numbness in the same area, after a period of time riding. Tried everything, to do with position, stem height etc. Was considering these a while back. Now having seen this im sold! Great vid 👍
Noice Phil 🤘🏼
Yeah... I feel bad saying that when I "just grab" rev grips that I'm underwhelmed....🤷🏼♂️
But I can't deny that they let me ride WAY beyond my limit with regular grips that I might like 😂🤘🏼
While they weren’t 100% fix for my numbness they made a big difference I believe they’ve worth the $$
I've got them on all 3 of my bikes now. definitely help with hand numbness. While installation is a little more involved than most other grips, it's really not that hard. Just a few more steps. The one piece insert will definitely make it easier
Yeah... Lol.
I talk about how installation is a pain...but then when I re-did it, it wasn't too bad 😂
Just not something I wanna screw up haha 🤘🏼
GREAT to hear about helping with numbness💪🏼
These with my one up carbon bars have made my ride so much more comfortable it’s crazy
I have used them for over a year now, love them so far, they have held up pretty well. I agree that the mediums wear out, I think I'll try the large now. 👍🤘
I guess they just came out with a new "ergonomic" one 🤔 I'm curious 😂
@@TheCrashingDad You talking about these?

This was a fun and creative production to watch for grip! You made it exciting 👍🏽 good job.
SO exciting...to listen to me talk to the camera for 13 minutes 😂🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️💪🏼
Thanks Dirt Fam 🤘🏼
@@TheCrashingDad seriously you are creative and different, I usually will watch someone’s video for the first minute or two but I love watching yours all the way through. Keep killing it!
Ah man..that means alot - thank you 🙏🏼
Nice video. You explained all the things well, and used visuals to help solidify it your explanations. Keep it up!
Thanks dude 🤘🏼 still....too much editing 😂🤦🏼♂️
@@TheCrashingDad yeah, editing is a time suck, but you’re making high level productions now. They’re good!
Tried them a few years back...I didn’t like the flex or rev they had so I took them off fairly quickly. I may have to order some parts and test them out for a longer period. Great “review” man!!
Lol.. thanks Tom 🤘🏼
Yeah... It's all "opinion" 😂
But yeah... I agree... I didn't/don't like the way they feel 🤷🏼♂️
But my hand pain doesn't care about my opinions 😆
SAME!!! I went through two pairs of chunky grips that exploded with relatively mild crashes. I ended up becoming revgrip curious after a day of riding on scree and having intense arm pump at the DH park in Sun Valley. I can honestly say I've been arm pump free since I put these grips on my bike. I can descent 2k feet with no stops and I'll be winded and tired, but no arm pump. I bought the race model for $60 and can attest that you don't need the pro model for adjustability to have huge benefits from these grips
That's GREAT to hear!
I think I mainly wanted the pro to go as soft as possible ..and I think the race series sets it at medium...right?
@@TheCrashingDad yeah I'm not exactly sure how they quantify the flex of the race. I'm sure it's medium ish. If you want to tune it lighter you can throw one of their thinnest shims in.
great video. I also had major pain in my hands. I ended up with Reverse Seismic grips. The come in 32mm and 34mm. They provide amazing grip even though they have no pattern I think because they are out of silicone. And they are really cushy. Using them for 3 years now. Plus they are really cheap, like 30 Euro that's about 36$.
If you like Ergon get their GD1 evo, those are their downhill grips and they also come with a larger diameter.
Greets from Austria
Sweet, thanks!
I always like to try different grips on m backup bike and hardtail 🤘🏼 (that's how I still have some ergons 😂)
For what it’s worth, I like them too 🤷🏻♀️ I haven’t played around much with grips, but I certainly have noticed pain with other grips. I don’t know if it would make a difference, but I’d be interested in trying out the different sizes.
Good... Because I need an excuse to try the new kind they just came out with 😂
I may have to try these at some point. I like that they're made in the USA too. On my dirt bike I had always thought of putting a throttle tube on the left side. I noticed I would get more arm pump on my left and figured it was at least partly due to fixed vs rotating grip. Having my right hand freely rotate never seemed to effect my control of the bike. So I like the idea of trying these. I think Boyesen did similar for dirt bikes. I just never got around to trying it since I haven't been able to ride dirt bikes much for a few years.
If I’m not mistaken, I think the Rev Grips founder, Marc, does dirt biking as well… and influenced him to start the company for MTB and dirt biking 🤘🏽
Totally sold on RevGrips now. Psyched because I don’t love the grips that came with my MTB. Awesome 😎
NOICE 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Does ANYONE love the stock grips? 😆
This is the kind of review I love!
Ah thanks Christina, I really appreciate that 🤗
I've had these for 4 years. Once I tried them, I never looked back
Glad I'm not the only one 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Mr. Tonka, here is QVC.. You got the job!
😂
Oh man, I WISH I could do everything live and in one take.... This took WAY too many takes 😂
I have these grips on both my bikes. Medium on one and just installed the RG5. I have big hands so I like the RG5 better but they are both awesome.
Just got the rg5 🤘🏼
Hoping that I like it...it'll be hard to get me away from the Large 😂🤷🏼♂️
That intro tho man!!! I have a buddy who runs the rev grips, and flexx bars. Doesn’t get any plusher than that !
😂🤘🏼 thanks Pierce ! Yeah...I suppose pairing the grips and bars is a good combo...but if I had to pick between the two, I'd pick the grips...🤷🏼♂️ Dollar for dollar I think it gives more comfort 👍🏼
I love my DMR Deathgrips but might give these a go at some point.
those DMRs are another one of those grips that I love the initial feel of when i feel them... i just have stupid hands lol
Sweet.. if you ever decide to throw the esi grips back on, try odyssey bar end caps. Really protects the ends when you crash. But rev grips are also on my list.
I like to try other grips on my backup bike and hardtail (that's how I still have the ergons 😂) 🤘🏼 thanks!
Hey, if you haven't already removed that end cap from your bar...Here's my advice since I've done the exact same thing...dremel tool with a flat cutting bit and saw a line across the middle, then use a flat head screw driver to remove!!! works like a charm.
i ALMOST tried that! it would've gotten to that point...but I got an extractor bit from home depot... took a bit of drilling, but it eventually caught and came out...
if that didn't work, I was about to buy the right dremel bit haha..
thanks Mike!
I'm Rev Grip curious. I wish I could try a set out on my bike. If it were up to me, I would spend the money on items that make my riding more comfortable. All my purchases go through a detailed and exhausting management system where they go through a cost vs need evaluation. It is called a wife.😁 In case she reads this....LOVE YA! Seriously, though, I have been happy with ESI. Had a pair for 2 years before needing a replacement, but would love to try the Rev Grips and compare how they feel with my RA.
I still like the way ESI feels 🤷🏼♂️ you probably keep it up right enough to not need to replace them every two weeks...I can't say the same for myself 😂
And yeah... My "one of 3 touch points" is TOTALLY how I justify purchases like this 🤣
You're in luck my friend. Last time I checked if you order directly from revgrips they have a 30 day money back guarantee. If you don't feel like they live up to the hype then you can return them.
I didn't know about that 🤔😂🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I tried these for a season and they felt good, but the bottom line is a grip shouldn’t have 14 parts per grip. A good idea with a need for a redesign. IMO
Now with the new elastomers design it's only 7 parts 🤷🏼♂️😂
Yeah... It's definitely a process to put together...but for me, it's worth it if I want to ride longer 🤷🏼♂️🤘🏼
I initially got the larges but now I'm trying the mediums. The way I see it, it takes more hand strength to hold a large diameter...(ask me how I know)... and I was still having a ton of tendon pain in my hands on bike park days, though granted my first set had been worn way past its life span after 2.5 years 😅
Lol... 😂
Makes sense 🤷🏼♂️
I'm really curious to try those new ones they just came out with...
@@TheCrashingDad yeah I would have bought those if I waited like one week lol just missed the release 🤦♂️
What are your dampening settings moist of the time?
lol... my original reply was VERY inappropriate...could get me cancelled! haha
2 cups of filtered water is the answer...
@@TheCrashingDad 😂
I have been rev-grip curious. Jason from RMBL runs these and I just don’t like the initial feel of how they move. I wish I could demo them on an actual ride before dropping the money on them. I think the foil is what did it for me though, I need to go pick some up!
Lol...the foil!
Yeah.... I still don't like the initial hand feel.... I'm not impressed when I just grab them 🤷🏼♂️
BUT... I can't deny the lack of severe hand pain 🤷🏼♂️
Foil makes everything better
Crack?
After listening and watching your video I wanted to point out that I see you have all your stem shims on the top of your stem instead of on the bottom(yeah i get it is preference..but), it's probably more about your riding position and the fit of your bike then the actual handle bar grips. Sitting more upright instead of leaning onto the bars will decrease the pressure of your hands on the bar. Of course if the Rev$$$grips make you feel better then that's cool we applaud your honest review. I will stick to my Ergon because they just feel good.
Hey good point!
That was a big deal in road biking for fit...
I actually have just recently slammed my stem down on this new bike... I used to run it all the way up (back when I initially found rev grips)🤷🏼♂️
I am kinda playing around with positioning for the type of terrain I'm riding.
Right now I have it in the middle...
I don't want to go cutting my steerer tube until I'm absolutely sure of where I want it 😂🤘🏼
So I’ve been looking at grips and have tried litterally almost everything to help with hand numbing and pain with I ride. I prolly have marginal carpal tunnel issues. Rev grips are like the last frontier in grips. Yea or nea? And what size do you recommend ?
Yes... Probably the last frontier 😂
Oh man... Just from my experience, the softest elastomers with the biggest washers (softest settings) with the Large grips (most rubber padding) has been the best...
BUT some people don't like the large because it could be harder to wrap hands around...🤷🏼♂️
I haven't tried the new ergonomic rg5 grip they just released...but I'll probably order a set here soon....
Of note, they have now released a ergonomic sleeve that has a rise in the middle so it fits the shape of your hand even better.
Ps. I love my RevGrips. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I just saw those! I'm SO curious 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
I guess for relatively cheap, I can get some sleeves 🤔
@@TheCrashingDad I currently use the sz L too. Mine just showed up, and I haven’t had a chance to put them on yet. But they feel good in my hand.
I'd like to try these out but after running non-lockon grips I'm not sure I can go back. That extra 5mm on each side of the grip means wider bar to have same hand position or have pain on the outside edge.
That's true 🤷🏼♂️ if you're putting a bunch of hand pressure on that outside edge, then you're def going to be on that end peice 🤔
@@TheCrashingDad They could certainly make a grip like that however. Inner sleeve and outer grip goes on the sleeve. Would probably last longer too.
Whoa... THAT'S an idea 😎
You are officially a pro youtuber, you have the colored light behind you. Can I damp my ergon grips with a cloth? Will I get the same effect? 🤔
Get EVERYTHING damp! 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
@@TheCrashingDad Did you say $1500 dollar seat? Whoa, you are a baller. Comfy...@08:48
Comfort is costly 🤑
Ha, Ha! Love the intro. Getting the right contact points (grips, seat, pedals) is so important. I want to try those BUT,,, $90 eek
yeah... lol, i put all the work into editing this vid, just so i could justify the cost to my wife ;) lol...
@@TheCrashingDad ha ha. Great edit👍🏻I’ve been trying to up my editing game and make some better vids.
@@JaredHoff oh man.. it's TOO much work! lol... don't worry about the editing skillz and fluff... tell a story and cut out all the unnecessary boring bits... and you're golden..lol
How much do the grips move/rotate? I’m not sure I can deal with much rotation, not sure of a $90 experiment. I do suffer from finger numbness
I run the softest setting, and the movement that you see me do in the vid is just about it 🤷🏼♂️ I never notice it when riding... Just when purposely trying to rev it.
Maybe a couple millimeters either way.
I've seen friends run medium and firm settings, and you barely can get it to "rev"
- someone here in the comments just informed me that they have a 30 day money back guarantee 😂
So I would get them shortly before 30 days of riding 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
So another grip that I am running on BMX race bike that helps with hand pain is the PNW Loam Grip and they are 20 bucks very durable and if you look at the world wide cyclery video on best grips of 2020 they are on their!!!
Those DO look sweet - I'm a fan of PNW...
Though, I'm pretty sure that it would be the same as Ergon for me....I know that I'd love the initial feel, but I don't think I'd make it past 90 minutes without the major pain at the base of my thumb...
I think I had some on a demo bike...
That's usually the problem with demo bikes for me...😂🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
@@TheCrashingDad I get it thanks
Although, I wouldn't put it past myself to justify having some $20 pnw's on my backup/wife's bike 😂
I'm a sucker for new things....
Do these work with bar ends?
You make a compelling case with them be completed rebuild able
I love that... But honestly, I never had to rebuild my initial Large set....
BUT I pushed the elastomers too far and wore them down all the way.... SO those probably need to be addressed every once in a while... But now with the insert, it's less of a pain in the butt 😂
🤔 I'm definitely interested in these now
🤷🏼♂️ you'll be ballin 😎😂
@@TheCrashingDad Well then sign me up😎
I just want a pair of soft silicone grips. Problem with Amazon and eBay grips is, I can’t tell if they’ll fit my bike. I have an old mtn bike I’m upgrading piecemeal, and the grips are basic smooth rubber tubes. I was something softer and bigger.
Such a gripping topic. 😁
Took it full throttle 😎
Oh wow...all of that!!
P.S, You're a maniac 🙂
I'm too late all the funny grip comments have already been posted, anyways you sold me, like everyone I have tried a few and have been back and forth between Ergon and PNW Components grips but seemed like there should be something better, maybe this is what I have been looking for. Plus the cameo by "Sara" was the clincher (not sure I heard it right or spelled it right).
Lol 😂 I call her "Sandra".... But informally she is known as Sandy...
Yeah, if you're having hand or arm pain, and can't solve it... I think RevGrips are worth a try 🤷🏼♂️
I guess I'm just being redundant at this point 😂🤦🏼♂️
@@TheCrashingDad One other question have you tried the Spank Vibrocore bars?
No, I haven't.... I don't know that I'm convinced ...BUT that said, I haven't tried them 🤷🏼♂️ have you? What do you think?
@@TheCrashingDad Not yet, but I ordered them but I have not yet installed them. I need to trim them, they arrived as 820mm. I find 800 is more than wide enough. Not in a rush so it may be awhile before I actually try them.
Oh wow...that's CRAZY wide! Lol... I probably will settle around 760mm...
I am rev grip curious. My hand problem is not pain but falling asleep. Has anyone else with the same problem tried these?
Oh wow... I've had that in road biking... Had a professional fitting and the geo adjustments adjusted my weight enough to relieve the issue...🤔
I haven't seen fittings in mtb though....

I rode for years without hand issues. Then, one day I started getting hand pain, every ride. I got some RevGrips. They helped, but still had pain. Ended up getting 1up bars, tuned my fork a thousand different ways, added cush core, you name it. Then, I bought a 2nd bike and noticed my hands never hurt riding it. 🤷♂️ Ended up selling the original bike and haven't had a bit of hand pain since. It's been over a year and I still don't understand why..
"sorry hun...my hands hurt. I need a new bike!" 😂

Fo-sho. It was a brand new, dream build, bike too. Top spec everything. I've heard others complain about the vibration in that bike since, so I guess it was just a thing. 😂
My hands get really numb after about 6 miles you think it will help that.
My whole bike didn’t cost $90!! Just kidding. I saw Seth review these a while back and didn’t think much of them but now I am going to check them out. I’ll make sure Rev Grips gives you a commission. Lol Seriously I do get hand pain so it’s worth a shot.
Lol .. I'm expecting to get some heat for not being a "budget friendly" reviewer 😂
Yeah... Seth's experience was tough 😬
And honestly, I have that same "underwhelming" feeling when just grabbing the grips 🤷🏼♂️ I'm not a huge fan of them.... UNTIL I realize that I no longer have hand pain, and can ride way longer than I could with grips that I "like".... I can't deny that...lol
