Hi! I'm a farm wife, mama to two and coffee addict - raking my way through life on the farm, inviting you along. I believe all of our stories matter and that they all relate more than we think.
My husband, two children and I work and live on a beef cattle operation in Milton, NC on the Central NC/VA line. No two days are the same around here and I use this vlog to show the good, the bad, the hard and the rewarding we find in this life. If you like what you see, I'd love for you to subscribe and tell a friend who might enjoy, as well. This community is growing and I love interacting with you all.

You are such an upbeat person I'm glad you take time out of your busy day to share a small part of your life with us.
Glad you shown the farmer how to fix it. đđđ
LOL... One small thing to get it running... A total Rebuild! Cool Truck!
Gertie the gleaner sounds good. The farmer did good on getting her ready plus he learned a new skill, videographer. I know you want some rain but you also need dry weather to get in the field, will be praying the hurricane misses you. Everyone please pray for who ever gets hit by the hurricane.
Thank you! Yes, praying for everyone in the way. Hope it doesn't do what they say it might.
I have always said a happy wife is happy life. Your smiles and laughter is what every family needs. It is raining here all morning and i guess most of the day. So a good day to watch CZcams and today i will be canning Banana peppers and tomatoes again. Willow my Husky is howling to go out but when she see it is raining she will change her mind. lol O ya name it ( Garth ). All ways thumbs up.
Garth is not a bad idea! Thank you. Happy canning...I wish I had some. Enjoy your indoor time :)
When that combine cranked over I smiled, because I'm happy for you all when things go well.
Jack Sak
Cranking over is still a basket case where you have no idea what youâve got because itâs just cranking over. If and when it starts, then you know youâve got something.
Thank you!
My wife suggested Gertrude. lol. We enjoyed the video. So glad you got the gleaner running. Thatâs a good feeling. We had a similar situation with one of our mowers. So we really understand the woo woo when itâs running. Thanks for the video By the way your videos are never boring. We love them. đđđâ€ïž
Your husband is an excellent mechanic!
Justin makes great waterproof cboy boots. I have a pair and they last . You
Need those boots with all the water your around ! Keep smiling đ
That's great to hear Glenn running and seeing him stretch a little bit
We were all cheering when the Gleaner cranked!
I really enjoy your videos, they just keep getting better and better too. They really bring back memories and make me wish I had followed my dream of being a farmer but instead I followed the money and ended up in the oilfield for life. I am building my equipment supply up so I can get into the hay business full-time once I retire some years down the road. A farmer I worked for when I was in high school had a brand new '78 Gleaner F2 exactly like ya'lls! On rainy days when I wasn't riding a tractor in the fields I would sit in the Gleaner cab and drool over the beautiful machine, lol. Can't wait to see ya'lls working in the field!
Aw yay! I canât wait to show you!
Mertie meet Gertie the Gleaner!! And the Combine Harvests đ€thanks for sharing and keeping it real!! Sorry if LB got his feelings hurtđ
I think the farmer knows his stuff...very good mechanic...
I love your videos and love that you are promoting the FFA.
I just love you your always so positive and have that beautiful smile your family is so lucky to have you thank you for sharing and God bless you and your family.
You have such a Wonderful Love and Heart for your family and the Farm!!!! Amazing Absolutely Amazing!!!! Yall are so Respected!!!!
How could anyone get mad with you Merdi ?Youre a wonderful person :)
I thank God everyday for farmers we wouldn't be alive without you
All that patience paid off the gleaner looks well ready to go to work.
OMG, what a lucky man !!!!
My sis called them Mr Big Tooth.
Play Safe From Elliot Lake Ontario Canada.
You could name it the Galvanized Grinder. Good luck we ran Gleaner Combines for years. My Father always said when John Deere puts the cab in the middle and engine in the back he would buy one. He did not live long enough to see the day when we shipped out the Gleaner and brought our John Deere home.
I am so glad that you are truly excited about the Gleaner. Won't it be great to see him/her going across the field harvesting the crops that you guys put all of your time, effort and money to make. Just be prepared because a 40 plus year old machine will break down but I know that Hub (is that right?) will be able to repair it. Looking forward for the next video and seeing the Gleaner in action. :)
We are used to everything breaking down hahaha. I'm excited to see it go!
@@ThisFarmWife_ You and I both know break downs are just a part of farming. :)
Hi from Burke county NC. I love watching how you and your husband work together.
Hi! Thanks for tuning in! Love having other NC peeps on board âșïž
Your family inspire me! I feel like y'all could be the ppl across the hollar or next door. You and your family are in my prayers. God bless you all.
As many times as Iâve seen you talking to those Border Collie pups, this was the first time I made the connection to Lonesome Dove...Gus and Clara. âThe older the violin, the sweeter the musicâ, and âany man that wouldnât cheat for a poke donât wonât one bad enoughâ are two of many great quotes Gus has.
I love all of his quotes! "It aint' dying I'm talking about, it's livin'."
Sat. Morning and watched your clip and we are watching Dorian. We live in Ocala Florida and any which way you see this storm, We are going to get a pill of rain and wind, 16 to 20 inches of rain is what the forecasters are saying. We'll stay on our little farm and ride it out. Had a great smile on my face when the Gleaner got going and no issues with the new head. We had a Gleaner on our Farm in upstate NY. we had a 2500 acre farm. Sorry I ever left, I envy you, I miss our Farm.
Oh my, that's an insane amount of rain with nowhere for it to go. I sure hope y'all fare well. Be safe! And I'm sorry you miss your farm. :(
@@ThisFarmWife_ Well, good news for us. Looks like Dorian is going to đ the coast, So all the heavy rain will stay East if us. Bad news is that it might come ya'lls way I pray that it doesn't.
That Gleaner is one pretty looking Combine. I love older machinery. I love how they sound too. You can hear them from at least a mile away. I hope she works out for y'all.
When you said wheres bonnie. I have a blue healer as well. I do that all the time. And like right then I'm usually looking too far out for him, then I look down at my feet and there he is. Lol
Always!đ
The neighbor, well, the guy lives about a mile away, as the crow flies, has two Gleaners. He did use both but now one is for parts. Good older equipment. Howdie from Central Indiana! The old guy here, just turned 77! Yea! Keep those video's coming. I sure do enjoy them. Wish I had smell-a-vision. Love the country farm smell.
Glorious gleaner
Great video. Glad your gutted gleaner is running. Pray for everyone in front of the hurricane. God bless and be careful
I grew up on a plantation in south Ga back in the 60s where my father was the manager.Raised commercial cattle & the crops to feed them.Gleaners were considered the best combines made as I remember.Yâall make me think about those days again. They were the best days of my life.
Awesome video as usual.Keep up the good work.TY for sharing
"You sure are a cute" farmers wife little lady. Love the way you explain things. May God Bless your family.
I'm a new sub, Merdie. You and your family are so real. Lucky man, that husband of yours. God's Blessings on y'all!
Well really enjoyed another video and the old girl sounds good it will do you a good job when y'all put it in the field and have to say you really know how to make it interesting just keep on keeping on.đ
Great news you got the gleaner cranked up , thank you for another great video Meredith đ
Enjoyed the last few videos on working with the equipment. Your husband is very handy. That skill helps much around a farm because something always breaks. Hope the coming storm does not damage your crops. Jim TN
I only joined your channel a few videos ago and itâs been a delightful viewing. Completely different way of life personally and the farming way than what we have here in Northern Ireland. Keep up the great work.đ
How about Big George? Meredith, this is a great video and thank you a lot. Hope the hurricane didn't do harm to your place. Thanks!!
Thanks! We didnât even get any rain. Just a little wind
Glad you got the old girl running always something to fix your all a hard working family nice video
so glade i found your channel you make me smile.
Thanks for taking us along Meredith. Congrats on the new to you Gleaner, should make life a bit easier I hope :). Glenda is an old country farm name.
Good ole silver sided pheasant catcher
Love your puppies. Don't you wish you knew what they are thinking. đ
Yes! haha
Been waiting for this video. Resurrecting and old machine or vehicle is always very joyful when it finally starts. Woo hoo!
Combining corn=shelling. You shell corn, wheat, soybeans. Do Y'all raise Tobacco? Mow yard high & slow, after starting mower, take off choke. Engage mower blades with engine running full throttle, disengage electric clutch the same way. Fewer problems that way. Ask Lawrence if I'm not right. Explain to them the difference between a plow, and a disc. Love the show, it's like I'm back on the farm. I will continue praying for Y'all. God Bless.
Hubs had some tobacco growing up but not for last 25 years or so.
They look so comfy lol
Great video Meredith of you and your family on the farm has always
Glad you guys got it working. The farmer looks to be a good mechanic and problem solver. Hope the hurricane doesnât affect you guys either.Enjoyed it as always!
He is! And thanks. i'm more worried about family in FL, but hope we don't get rain here. We need to cut bean hay so bad. :(
I finally got caught up on your videos! Stay safe if it storms there next week. Thanks for sharing!
Loving the beautiful weather in Raleigh NC âïžâïžâïž Tonight it is 68 degrees đđđ
Your farm really is a beautiful peace of the world, reminds me allot of a sleepy part of Britain, nice n secluded from the hustle n bustle. Good job Lawrence, now ya just got to show Merdi how to run it, yahooo!!
A nother beautiful video like always thought things your husband was ajusting are jack stands. Please be careful and safe from the hurricane coming your way I hope it turns to the ocean and way from yoall. Keep up the great work and keep the sweet smile
ALLIE for the Gleaner !!
I was in the FFA AND FHA IN Hight School, sold wallets purses and blue and gold sausage to go to FHA OKLAHOMA CITY CONVENTION
Blue and gold is the best sausage plus it helps the FFA chapters raise money for trips. We are getting some soon in Stillwater.
Love your videos,,the old Gleaner takes me back to a good time .. Campbell. That's a good name,, the best Boots I ever had was double h. Cow shout every day I wore them for several years..god speed
So love your dogs, beautiful...
So cute
That show u never put a woman down in every one there is real ting and what she do for the family is god bles dont give yr sperit is what keep u going thank u for shairing this with us đâ€đđâ€
Good on you that you pick up the net wrap. I used to spread manure for some people who didn't. I quit after two years. Manure needs to be kept clean!!!
I think Tin Mans Idea for a name may be a good choice. I also wanted to tell you how much I love your videos, the humor you add always puts a smile on my face and warms my hart after a tough day at work. Keep up the good work.
I was going to say Gussie Gleaner. But Tin Man is better name for the silver seeder.
Thank you!!
Gary ! The Gleaner.
What about 'Glenn' for the gleaner? Great video! You got Lawrence filming for you a bit. Good job getting that old gleaner up and running.
It is the small things that make you happy.
You go girl..đź
Wow love the FFA shir. I was in Louisville Ky for the 75th anniversary of FFA with Blue Ridge High School chapter from South Carolina
As always another Great Video.......I so enjoy your channel. Thanks for supporting the FFA.
My nocona boots were doing the same thing after their 3rd resouling. My boot guy put a thin gusset in them. Not as pretty but still comfortable.
We used the f model for several years. Ours was named Gertrude. I hope you have a successful harvest.
I love bird watching Especially the fincheswe have at our house.I love the hummingbirds. My grand children love to feed them.We make and custom design our bird houses.
Aw thatâs neat!
On our farm if the feed run out before harvest and combining and silage wasn't ready we would take a pickup truck or trailer out to the corn field and cut with an old hatchet our selves a load of corn stocks with the cobs and all for feeding to the cattle. They always loved it and it was a good temperary feed. đ Huntsville Ontario Canada đ đ"Gary Gleaner "
Having withdrawals without a new video, Merdie !
Hopefully coming this afternoon. Loading now!
Another fantastic video Meredith thank you đ
Thanks!
You guys are great. Love the family
I love that old feed truck ,you need to get it going
Great videos. Glenda the gleaner
Glad you got your gleaner up and running after all your blood sweat and tears, respect to farmer pitting his experience against a new unknown piece of machinery and you for standing by him and taking the flak lol, how about Glynn, as in tin, thin, spin, sounds a little bit like glean and is a welsh boys name meaning valley, like the Scottish glen, best wishes to you and your family.
Thank you!
One thing is for sure, Mr. Bernard is a very hard worker! Knows his stuff too! His wife works pretty hard herself!
I love being around Hummingbirds. We keep can either around our Gleaner, small shot for easier start
For fixing your boots you just need a roll of duct tape, go around the top and bottom and it will also be water proof somewhat. I know you have probably replaced them by now but just till you can get into the city to get a new pair it works. Also if you just using them around the farm who cares if they have duct tape on them your the one wearing them and they are comfortable so keep using them. Like your vids they have a down to earth quality to them, somewhat raw southern relaxed feel.
Up here in Illinois, a lot of people go 'shell corn' with the combine. They all seem to 'cut' beans, when they are ready though. Combining just takes too long to say I guess. I like to 'pick' corn(my profile pic was at the local fall tractor show), but I don't farm, I just play farmer for the neighbor in the spring and fall, doing tillage work and chasing the combine..
I like the name Grumpy for cantankerous. I also like the name George for my husband which is sometimes hard to get started but when he gets going he is like a tank , you canât slow him down until the job is done. We are in Georgia( not far from the coast ) if you want a female version of the name. We enjoy watching your videos and have subscribed. Will continue to pray God directs the storm away from all of us.
I hope the storm misses yâall! Stay safe
Really love your videos and I'm sorry I've been so busy I haven't been able to keep up. Gotta have my knee re-replaced this coming Monday. Maybe I'll be able to catch up while I'm layed up. Your so funny on your explanations of things on the farmâŒïž Take care of the family and prayers that the nasty storm doesn't bother your piece of heavenâŒïžâ€ïžđ
Aw Iâm sorry. Best wishes! Thanks for watching anytime you can âșïž
Gilda works for me. Great video thx for having us. Plz get you some J toe boots they look so much better. I no we had this talk already...lol
I like my boots :D
I know you do... lol
Hey, I was just thinking about any issues to watch for on the Ol' Gleener... So.. reached back in to the old memory banks.
Straw walkers, they're mounted on the cranks with wooden bearings, they last almost forever, but if they wear wrong, the walkers will beat themselves to death. New bearings and some welding if things go bad.
The shoe takes a pretty good beating, shaking back and forth so much.. as long as all the bushings are in good shape, shouldn't be too bad, but a bad bushing can bust the thing up.
Best of luck with your harvest and the new combine!!!
Gladis the Gleaner âïž
1978, the same year I graduated high school. It will be a good piece of equipment.
Haha, thanks!
I had to laugh when you cranked up the lawn mower!! I have a LT150 with no hood. That ole plastic doesn't last long!! Great video again!!
Haha thanks!
When it comes to a grain sample a gleaner makes it cleaner! I like Gerti.....Merti and Gerti
That's good!
Hi Meredith, just when I thought you put out your best video. The two combine videos were great. I just lol lol lol great job. Larry Poeschel
Aw thank you!
Great that the Gleaner got going, hopefully things will go smoothly combining your beans and corn, can't wait to watch, always incredibly frustrating on both sides of the operator/ assistant dance, add the noise of the running equipment, makes for much tension, I've been on both sides trying to explain how things have to go, not accomplishing what I was told to do, hope things smoothed over after things got done, excellent video, thanks
Don't you just love the sound of a hay conditioner kicking into gear and watching the hay come out the back end of it! I mean like don't cha'? It would be great if it was a nice stand of alfalfa, but what the heck. The hum of a mower. Feeding the livestock come winter. WIN! "Glen the Gleaner"
Great video
Love your videos. I can't imagine having a cab with AC and radio. As a kid, I cut Milo 14 hours a day and that is the dustiest, itchiest stuff of all. After an hour we were covered head to toe because the seat was almost over the head. Jumping in the nearest pond was always great.
Thanks!
Ha. Lawrence has those stories too. Iâm happy to have it!
Glen the Gleaner rolls off the tongue rather nicely , the armchair mechanic in me can see the clean exhaust on startup , a good sign , good it's a diesel not a thirsty gasoline firestarter , bet Lawrence is pleased to fill the grain tank for the 1st of many times , y all ( did I get that right ? ) stay safe around machinery & the cattle ~~
YOU are so funny , love you
congrats on getting the gleaner running. nice work.
All of our older combines had a fuel tank down low , had to have an electric booster pump to help with initial fuel to the engine. We had it on 95 Deere, 6600 Deere, 141 McCormick, 151 McCormick
