The Choir of Belfast Cathedral - 1986 - A Gaelic Blessing

Through the dark years of the troubles in Belfast the singing of the Cathedral Choir shone like a good deed in a wicked world. The BBC television newsreader Richard Baker was so struck by their quality when he visited the city last year that he persuaded Abbey to record them.
Unusually for a cathedral the choir of 50 voices employed women as well as boys and men, the boys drawn from schools in the Belfast area. I had the privilage of singing in this choir when David Drinkell was Organist and Master of the Choristers.
