  • Through the dark years of the troubles in Belfast the singing of the Cathedral Choir shone like a good deed in a wicked world. The BBC television newsreader Richard Baker was so struck by their quality when he visited the city last year that he persuaded Abbey to record them.
Unusually for a cathedral the choir of 50 voices employed women as well as boys and men, the boys drawn from schools in the Belfast area. I had the privilage of singing in this choir when David Drinkell was Organist and Master of the Choristers.
Another track that might be of some enjoyment to a few friends - a wee bit poignant given recent developments but hopefully enjoyable nonetheless. The Choir of Belfast Cathedral - The Ulster Hall 1986
