This is not America, in every Asian country, property is owned by the state as socialist countries, and foreigners are limited in rights in owning property in South Korea and Asian countries! There is a huge difference between a Democratic Government System whereby financial corporations control economies such as the United States in CORPOCRACY, allowing foreign investors to become property tycoons in the US while laundering their investment taxes to their own countries and socialist countries whereby foreigners have LIMITS on investments and property ownership, as in not giving foreigners opportunity to exploit their country of residence through investments. Dianna is still very much an American citizen!
What I weird is your extreme financial ignorance of how economies work outside of CORPOCRACY America. Even in the UK, a foreign wife married to a British man does not qualify in property ownership unless her country of origin citizenship is neutralised.

No people do this all the time.
Now it may not be a "good" general practice because it is such a LARGE decision to make with the family's finances, but he wanted to surprise her, and they both were looking for a new home anyway so it's good. Now if she wasn't looking to move or felt their money was too tight to make a purchase then there would be a problem.
I guess you are thinking of how a house being in his name only blocks his wife from things to where if he gets unhappy with her he can toss her out? But that doesn't mean it's the case here. He may still have her put her name on it later on. Maybe where you are from this isn't done but where I am at it happens.

I came to North America as a hitchhiker from My homeland of New Zealand and I meet and married a North American Native Plains Indian.
