    The Ego system works great for my size yard. I would like to get a bigger battery, mainly for the blower. The 2.5 AH doesn't last long when using the blower on high. I wish more people would take pride in their property. Cheers RBS

      Yeah, I definitely think the 5ah is the minimum needed. I want to check out the 10ah! Yeah, folks need to take pride in their property. It's like getting out of bed and immediately getting dress and brushing your teeth. The simple act will make a huge impact on your productivity.

      I thought the same but being Abit older the 5 amp gets abit heavy using the blower for about 29 minutes. So I think it's best to have minimum two 2.5 amp batteries to swap out on the trimmer or blower .

    *I have used Stihl for over 20 years 🌴 **allabout.wiki/EGO** and after reading some reviews of this trimmer, I tried EGO Power+ , and I'm going to switch. Compared to several Stihl trimmers I've had, this one is easier to start, quieter, and feels at least as well built . A major plus is it doesn't have the wonky, always leaking, complicated gas tank caps that Stihl has.*

    I’ve never considered not using the trimmer guard until now after watching you invert the trimmer around your backyard shrubs. The guard doesn’t “guard” much anyways since I still get pelted with debris. I do see you protect from the trimmer getting to close to you by wearing the rubber boots though. Strongly considering the switch from gas to cordless and being able to invert the trimmer without any worry of leaking fuel or the losing fuel to the motor because the clunker doesn’t move freely enough is so compelling.

    I use the power heads commercially virtually all day every day, also I have the full carbon shaft model of that trimmer amazing tool, does have a defective trigger but still my favorite trimmer ever.

    Great video mate. Little petrol engines suck. When they don’t start, which they invariably don’t do, it ends up in hours of frustration.
    In Australia, the land of high prices, I’ve invested into the Ego system. I have the powerhead system you have that powers a trimmer & brush cutter. I also have a chainsaw & blower. Ego Australia often offers battery redemptions so after buying everything I have four batteries, three 2.5ah and one 5 ah batteries plus two chargers.

    Were you able to do all of that with the 2.5ah battery or did it die so you switched to the 5ah ?

    question: Hard to tell but when looking down at the string trimmer while it is operating, which way does the head sping? Clockwise or counter-clockwise? thanks

      The stand alone trimmer and the multi tool trimmer spin in opposite directions.

  • @jeffrousell8324
    @jeffrousell8324 Před 4 lety +2

    can you compare/contrast the dedicated trimmer you have with the front-end motor versus the rear motor power head version. Larger motor and battery both in the back of that multi-head system - does it make it back-heavy and throw the balance off for trimmer use? If I do not have much need for an edger and 99% just need a trimmer should I bother with the power-head system or just get a trimmer fomr ego?

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  Před 4 lety +1

      Jeff, if you are only looking for a trimmer and have a 1/2 acre or less I would recommend going with just the Ego Trimmer. The 2.5 Amp Hour Battery should cover ya, and it is less weight. I used this product first, and had such a good experience I wanted to transition all my other tools over to a Ego platform. That's why I went with the multi-tool head. But, it can be expensive so I wouldn't go the multi-head tool route unless you are looking for a solution like that.

    How does the vibration and weight compare between the stand alone trimmer and the multi trimmer?

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  Před 4 lety

      You know, I don’t really notice a vibration difference between the two. The stand alone is a little less weight. But not noticeable in my opinion w/ the 2Amp battery. It starts to go up in weight the bigger battery you use. I prefer the 5 with my size yard. 10,000 sq ft.

  • @stevevinas
    @stevevinas Před 3 lety

    How does the power head version compared to the regular balance weight Wise. There's extra week because of a shaft in the power head version so isn't it heavier? And the motor and the battery is in the back so all the weight is now in the back. More vibrations? If you didn't need any of the attachments and just were trimming which trimmer would you choose just for trimming if price was not an issue?

  • @australianlawnfanatics3535

    Crickey Bob you’ll go through a blade a week with all those edges

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  Před 4 lety +1

      Well, it's definitely going to be a lot easier now that I don't have a dang power cord getting snagged behind me!
