Me and my friend only watched the movie because Joker said "We live in a society" in the trailer and we are still pissed to this day that it wasn't there
There was this scene in the movie you didn't mention where the screen turned black and Zack Snyder himself lunged put of the TV and sucked out all the fat and acne out of me, leaving me a heartthrob. Thank you Zack Snyder this movie was amazing and couldn't have been done without you ❤
I always find it funny the original is called the "Joss cut" when Whedon took over post-production of the movie. The reshoots and shorter run time were mandated by WB so it should be the "WB cut", Whedon even went uncredited. Essentially what Whedon signed for was to put the already shot film together and edit visuals, sound etc, WB made him write and shoot new scenes as they were unhappy with the final product. Snyder had 3 years and an extra 70 million to retroactively change elements of the film, review the criticism and remove the bits people didn't like or that didn't work regardless if they were Whedon's idea or his which we can't know unless we see the original scripts. I think Whedon got a bad wrap for the original, i can almost see WB saying to him "make it like Avengers" Not defending the recent claims about his behaviour just his filmmaking.
I'm not sure how much Snyder could've changed considering the fact that all of the movie, save for the Knightmare scene in the epilogue, was shot back in 2016.
Blaming Joss Whedon for the dumpster fire that was Justice League is a bit unfair I think. He was taking over a movie that was entirely somebody else's vision with instructions to chop it to under 2 hours. Those are difficult to impossible circumstances to make a good movie in. His weird, cringy Whedonisms, awkward humour, etc didn't help but I think Avengers 1 and 2 in the MCU is probably a much better representation of Joss as a filmmaker than Justice League 2017. I would put most of the blame for that mess on the studio honestly. I am curious how a Joss Whedon Justice League movie would stack up to a Zack Snyder one if Joss was actually allowed to make his own movie instead of unintentionally bastardizing Zack's version.
Yea, the argument scene alone in Avengers blows anything Zack has made out of the water. The way the camera just pans over every characters as they are trying to gain some control; And then flip upside down in view of Loki's staff to show that Loki's the one in control. There's not much story telling in the way Zack uses the camera, it usually is just slowmo + iconography (In comic book movies, he just references comics; Or in Superman's case, Jesus).
@@boxtupos7718 I wouldn't say it's better than anything Zack Snyder has ever done...Watchmen, 300, V for Vendetta...all awesome movies. There might not be a better visual stylist director out there. When it comes to direct adaptations Zack is pretty much a master...However I do think Joss is better at the writing and creation of his own script though. So I think a Snyder/Whedon collab could actually have worked fairly well...but in that scenario I would have Whedon write the script and let Zack direct it.
@@danielpatterson5189 I’m sorry, but I busted out laughing when I read “Zack Snyder is a master of direct adaptations.” Nah, fuck that. He bastardized Superman and Batman’s character.
@@a1pha_star not a direct adaptation. I am talking about adaptations where he is transferring the story without doing any of his own writing. 300, V for Vendetta, Watchman that kind of thing. He has a flair for that kind of thing...the main issue he has is in writing scripts. Which is why he didn't do a great job with the Batman and Superman movies. He was given an outline but had to fill in entirely too many of the blanks with his own writing.
The aspect ratio doesn't actually remove or cut off the sides of the image. The width of the image is exactly what you would see had it fit 16:9. What you gain is more space above and below, which in 16:9 gets cut off. You see everything in Snyders cut.
in my opinion what makes the snyder cut adored by many is more for what it represents, since the story behind its cancellation was unfair and this film only exists thanks to the union of the fans. this makes me wonder what it would be like if the snyder cut was a worse movie than justice league lol
Yea I could never understand the overwhelming praise it got but seeing the rolling stones article about the bots and everything else I'm no longer that shocked. Although that doesn't mean there isn't also a good portion of delusional Snyder Fanboys who legit think this is one of the best films ever made period. Like hell it has like a 94% audience grade on RT. When I saw this film I was like yea it's better than the original but that's not very hard. Yet it's somehow being praised as this amazing film by some people just because they are so deep into this Snyder thing. That even if deep down they think it wasn't that great they could never admit it. And have to just pretend it was the greatest thing ever created. Honestly not sure why anyone could be so in love with Snyder as a film maker. For one the man basically have never done a original film in his life. His most original idea was Army of the Dead and subpar zombie film that he made as a spiritual sequel to Dawn of the Dead. Other than that all of his other films have all been based off of existing things. And the only 3 movies of his that I can find any joy in watching are Dawn of the Dead, 300 and Watchman and all of those are all because of the source material for them.
1. That wasn't Darkseid. That was Uxas. If Darkseid was there everyone will die lmao. Darkseid is stronger than GODS at DC universe 2. He almost died when he returned to Apokolips. He was in a fight for power and much time passed before he was in a position of power again and by then all who had been with him had been Slayed.
The biggest problem is that the entire DC Universe was rushed. They were so desperate to catch up to Marvel's streak that they didn't bother to take the time to properly introduce each superhero and slowly build up the stakes and the ultimate villain. No amount of recutting of the Justice League would save it from this problem.
Tbh I would haves loved Batman's character arc in dceu because it could have been like this he still had his no killing rule but then when joker killed robin that set him lose fuck that could have been a while movie
I hate this argument. Shield, in its entirety, is explained over multiple films in the MCU. Fury, Hill, Hawkeye, Black Widow, war Machine, all got brought along in small supporting roles through other heroes' films. That's more than half the roster, with 0 solo content. There's literally a difference of 1 film between the first Iron-Man, and Avengers, than there is between MoS and Justice League.
@@riteousrighthand6144 that's true, but avengers 1 wasn't really the end of it. They introduced the characters and then build upon them for the rest of the films. By the time endgame released, almost every character had a film and was fleshed out. But this is the end for justice league and probably the dceu in general. Batman is already getting a new film, most likely completely unrelated, SQ is also getting rebooted, the flash film is either in heavy development hell or just cancelled, and the sequel to jl isn't coming either. Every character in the mcu was explored and fleshed out by the end of the mcu. Not with jl
Gal Godot didn't want the scene of Flash falling on top of her. Funny for some, suggestive for many others. It was a point of contention. So she had him put a double on the lay down part, and he edited her response to keep it in his version. Tell your mom I’m thankful for his death and resurrection. I may now enter the kingdom of heaven and look down upon StepenWolf as he perishes in Hades.
I think the reason it is rated so highly is that the vast majority of people who would sit through a 4 hr movie like this are huge Snyder fans. An average moviegoer that was curious about Snyder's vision wouldn't be willing to sacrifice 4 hrs to find out.
The thing with the Flash that was so goofy was he spent several seconds at regular speed looking at iris then ran back into the pet store to look like he didn't run fast. The pet store lady would've heard her door break, looked over and seen Barry in the road. The also fucked up his backstory too since he became a speedster before getting his job. Oh yeah he also spent the entire last act of the movie running in circles to charge up, just to get shot down and then go from 0 to max speed immediately...I guess he didn't need to spend all that time charging up
About your criticism of Batman: Yes, in a fight, Batman is by far the least useful member of the Justice League (although due to his gadgets, still far from useless). However, I believe his main strength lies in his intellect - both in this movie and in other JL incarnations. He is the world's greatest detective, he was the one who tracked all members of the Justice League down, he is the one that hatches most of the plans. Batman is cool *because* he has no super powers, and he's still essential to the Justice League's success in many occasions. OK, enough fan boying for Batman, kthxbye!

What? You expect every character in this goddamn movie to say, "Couldn't do this yesterday." You can't develop characters emotionally without exploring what they went through or what they are going through. Or just how they are as a person. Reality check: Although this movie was good, everything in that movie didn’t matter because DC’s gonna replace all the characters with different people and start a new Batman for the 30th time.
They're already replacing Henry Cavill to make Clark black, as opposed to making a story about Calvin Ellis, an actual black Superman. It boggles my mind that Hollywood continues to change characters instead of bringing in the tons of others that already exist.

One of the biggest reasons that scene is _painfully_ stupid. When you're a cyborg with energy cannons _in_ your arms, why would you _even have_ an auto-defense system that can TAKE OVER YOUR BODY!? @Insert funny name here I always wondered why it's a random terrorist group and not a Parademon attack? Wouldn't that have been a good way to build up your villains and escalate the threat and also not have this scene not feel like total filler? There is zero need for it in either version really.
They could've had all the heroes saving people from parademons to tie it into the plot. Or like, the terrorists in the Wonder Woman scene could be like doomsday cultists who lead her to the ancient carvings that explain Darkseid coming to earth thousands of years ago or something. At the very least, they could be used to show how morale has been lowered and crime is on the rise since Superman's death in order to establish the need for his return. But nah, that stuff just has nothing to do with anything.
Those are such good ideas.. but it’s a Zack Snyder movie - he did it cos “it looks cool” the bank robbing scene actually adds nothing to the plot.. and it takes up 5 minutes of runtime.
Cyborg’s auto defense system fails to trigger for Steppenwolf. Which leads me to believe it was solely included to get a contrived conflict going and dropped immediately afterwards.

The Snyder Justice League is the film in its original form. Zack Snyder didn't remove any scenes from the film - he restored the film to what he wanted it to be originally. All the scenes that are missing from the Zack Snyder Justice League are the scenes that Joss Whedon did in reshoots and added after his rewrites. All the footage in the movie is from the original shoot, the only additional footage is the scene at the end with Batman and the Joker. All they had to do was format it back to the IMAX ratio, re-edit the film and finish the special effects. Also, I believe that the 4-Hour Justice League movie released on HBOMAX was originally intended to be two separate theatrical films: Justice League 1 and Justice League 2. In my opinion this film is nowhere near "Meh". The fact that Cyborg and the Flash basically had nothing significant to do in the 2017 Justice League, there's no reason for them to be in the movie ...but in Zack Snyder's Justice League - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman - would have lost - if not for the two of them.
What? There is nothing to suggest what you said was true except fanpinion. It also doesn't make sense because they had to spend a huge amount of money to finish his version but Snyder had originally finished shooting before Joss even took over. It's almost certain that this wasn't the original 'directors cut' that Snyder would have released and that he changed things based on the reaction to the theatrical release and added to it.
@@retsaMinnavoiG The theatrical release is the Joss Whedon cut. Zack Snyder was not involved in that edit except that they took the footage he shot and asked Whedon to trim it down to one movie and write some new scenes (Flash falls on WW, Superman cellphone vid, Flash saves family, Superman and Flash race, Batman cracking jokes) to be more like the Marvel movies Whedon helmed. This is all well documented and is far from "FANPINION". He got very lucky with the timing, with Theatres closed down, when he got his funding, I admit that. All the streaming platforms were throwing money at creators. But that money was needed to finish the project the way it was originally intended. Either way, I enjoy the Snyder Cut much more. Whether you like his take on the DC universe or not you have to admit it is a unique, bold vision he created that is thematically consistent with the world he created starting with Henry Cavils Superman in Man of Steel and a far better product than the derivative half baked misfire that was The Whedon Cut.

I love how cinema has now become quantity over quality. People no longer want 2 hour long or less movies that are well made and tell a coherent story, no they want a 4 hour long shlock fest that’s only 4 hours long because the director shoved as much shit as he could in the movie for some reason.

I'll bet the costume designers were peeved. The amount of time that goes into screen testing colour, prints and textures so that they will portray a certain feel and theme in a movie is pretty intense. Then directors and editors get their hands on it and 'colour correct' till it means absolutely nothing. Just another interesting aspect I thought about while watching this.

Okay, here is how to introduce Darkseid: Have the Justice League decide not to revive Superman. Stuff happens, bad guys appear. The JL fights them off, but it get's dire. They discuss reviving Superman after all to make it a sure victory. Steppenwolf shows up, takes the box, revives Superman (with the plan to keep the Justice League off his back) The League have to convince Supes that they're on the same team. Superman has to think about stuff (charging up from the sun or whatever), meanwhile the rest go after Steppenwolf to save the world. It is unclear if Superman will help them. The big fight happens, things are tight, people are about to die, lying on the ground, swarmed by the baddies. Steppenwolf is about to do the final blow when Superman shows up and blocks him. With the entire group together they fight and win. But at the last moment, when they are about to finish off Steppenwolf (because he is to dangerous to be left alive), he gets zapped away. Darkseid did it! And he is not pleased that Steppenwolf has failed him again. The big baddie decides to do it himself. Cut. That way the question about reviving Superman becomes deeper, Steppenwolf shows up as the final boss, Darkseid is only revealed at the end for sequel bait.
All of your critiques regarding the aspect ratio are ill-founded. You seem to be confusing the 1.33:1 Open Matte aspect ratio of the movie with the 4:3 Pan and Scan aspect ratio that was popular in the days of CRT televisions. To put it simply: Pan and Scan crops the sides of the image to make it fit on a CRT screen, whereas Open Matte extends the top and bottom of the image to reveal more of the original frame.
@Matthew Knoellinger I was thinking the same thing, but it's dramatically shifted. The Joker is alive, Hal Jordan and the GLs died with Ryan Reynolds so they don't exist, and Darkseid is kicking it with Superman because we don't have any other established villains outside of Doomsday. The Snyder Cut is lucky the original version came out because it seemed so amazing by comparison, but if it had been the original release it would have probably had a similar reaction as BvS and MoS did when they first released.
One thing that bothered me in the movie that I never see anyone mention, is when Flash saves the girl (Is that supposed to be Iris West?) when he's introduced, her face is completely relaxed and neutral after being ejected from the car after the crash on her way to death, instead of wincing or freaking out like literally ANYBODY would be in that situation.
true. but one of the problems i have with this VIDEO is his take on wonder woman speed. she doesn't even come close to rivaling the flash. Since we already know that he can go "far beyond" the speed of light. Which is 620 million mph. 1700 mph really isn't that fast compared to that. and I don't think it's even true that she is going at absurd speeds. If someone had insanely fast reaction time, they can block and dodge a bullet. That doesn't mean they are going as fast as a bullet or faster. That just means their mind is going fast enough to predict where they are going to shoot, and is able to prepare for it as soon as they shoot. If she were in an actual race with a bullet I'm 100% sure she would lose extremely quickly. And even if she doesn't have those reaction times and isn't predicting or anything like that, the only thing that would be going even close to the speed of a bullet would be her arms. Which, what I'm trying to say is that, it's easier to make small distances that rival the speed of a bullet than to actually be able to beat it in a 50 meter dash. If you can move your arm really fast,( even if its nowhere near the speed of a bullet) and if you are able to think fast enough you can still block it. Your arms are smaller and lighter than your legs. So obviously you would be able to move them quicker.
@@xcx005 The “Story” would be the same if a lot of the scenes in here were removed, however, I disagree on the importance of this scene as it’s the one that introduces Flash, lets the audience know where he sort of is at with life, etc. in what is a good amount of time tho it couldve been shortened with the slowmo a bit.
I think Whedon got a bad wrap for the original, i can almost see WB saying to him "make it like Avengers"
Not defending the recent claims about his behaviour just his filmmaking.

Darkseid forgetting the one planet he lost on is the worst way possible to treat Darkseid. Making one of the best DC villians a idiot like that.
1. That wasn't Darkseid. That was Uxas. If Darkseid was there everyone will die lmao. Darkseid is stronger than GODS at DC universe
2. He almost died when he returned to Apokolips. He was in a fight for power and much time passed before he was in a position of power again and by then all who had been with him had been Slayed.
Plus he dropped his house keys there and hasn't been able to get back in since.

Okay, here is how to introduce Darkseid:
Have the Justice League decide not to revive Superman.
Stuff happens, bad guys appear. The JL fights them off, but it get's dire.
They discuss reviving Superman after all to make it a sure victory.
Steppenwolf shows up, takes the box, revives Superman (with the plan to keep the Justice League off his back)
The League have to convince Supes that they're on the same team.

I really hope it's not trying to tie them, because Injustice may be the best run of DC comics period and the DCU isn't setup to tell the story well.

Exactly I was hoping someone saw that
I was more bothered by the existence of the entire scene. Like it was pretty pointless. The story would still be the same even if you remove the scene
true. but one of the problems i have with this VIDEO is his take on wonder woman speed. she doesn't even come close to rivaling the flash.
