- Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects believes the Chicago Blackhawks have a harder decision than people realize with the #2 overall pick in the NHL Draft. While elite forward Ivan Demidov seems like most experts' top choice, Robinson says Kyle Davidson should take a long look at Cayden Lindstrom in this clip from the CHGO Blackhawks Podcast.

Cam even says - Lindstrom is projected highly due to size and you have to bank on seeing some large improvement because he isn't there yet. Demidov is the guy.
Cam said he has Demidov #2 on his board.
If it were me, I think Lindstrom would have the most positve effect on the team game. Build chemistry. You can find guys to play with Bedard just like Bowman found guys that can play with Kane.
Kane played on the second line most of his career. You can’t just find 2 first-liners. Lindstrom could be a middle six player, which is not what we tanked another year for.
@@MisterCaution If we get Demidov, I am sure we can find other big wingers and centers, maybe even in this draft. Will Demidov get here? Kantserov in an interview said he will proabably be forced to sign a KHL contract after juniors.
@@markrhein9886 Reportedly, per The Athletic, Demidov is planning to sign with his NHL org after next season (in summer 2025). This refusal to extend is why SKA St.P had him in the MHL most of last season for the second season in a row and didn’t give him much KHL TOI. But, presumably Davidson will due diligence to ensure that if Demidov is the pick, he will be coming over when his current contract is up.
@@MisterCaution I would love that. I heard him say in an interview that he would like to come to North American after his current contract. It is just that Kanserov (sp?) was more pesimistic he would be allowed to. Russia does have a way of getting their point across when they want to.
@@markrhein9886 I’m not sure about the Kantserov situation in particular, but the challenge is that young KHL prospects are often kept in the MHL way past ripening (like Demidov) or not given warranted TOI in the KHL if they aren’t extended. Also, if they are within one year of the contract ending, they can’t be loaned. So, KHL coaches really lean on young players to extend if they want to play and develop. Demidov’s development is essentially going to be on ice next season if he plans to come over-they won’t play him properly at the KHL level and might even keep him in the MHL as revenge. That’s how they roll over there to honor the NHL-KHL agreement while also disincentivizing prospects leaving young.
Demidov for the W
The back problems make me nervous.
If he checks out medically, OK, if there is ANY doubt, then Levshunov.
#2 overall picks don't come along every day.
I heard it was not an issue.. the back. We will all see at the combine. Demidov being in Russia makes it risky. Levshunov will likey be a good player, but we can get other RD farther down in the draft.
Demidov is the clear 2
I love Lindstrom but the injury concern isn't something you gamble on. Back issues usually don't get better. Don't overthink it and draft the next Pavel Datsuk.
I heard it was nothing. But I think we would do better to wait and see what the doctors say.
We saw what happened with Dach, I say we go Demidov
Can't go wrong with him, when he gets here.
Not at 2
I think the Hawks should draft Lindstrom. He’s going to be a beast when he fills out. The size and skill plus the physicality would be a great addition for Chicago.
No.
@@peterolbrisch8970 Yes Yes
@@markrhein9886 If they would have taken Celebrini first had they won the first pick, why would they get a d man second? And that guy who said that was a good idea hasn't showered in at least a week.
@@peterolbrisch8970 What??? I could care less about IF they got the first pick. They have a pick with a power center available who could lead this team with an all round team game. Good enough for me.
@@markrhein9886 You need a shower as bad as the guy in the video. They may as well trade down.
Levshunov, Levshunov, Levshunov or Lindstrom.
Lindstrom, Lindstrom, Lindstrom or Lindstrom
Who is this guy? He’s clueless
