You made a comment about not getting your money back when buying a box…. How is that ANY different than any other set, ever? Opening packs is a gamble. You typically won’t get your money back unless you hit one of the top chases.
Some sets are just far worse then others, but it's a fair criticism if you think I emphasis the lack of value too much. I set out to be a responsible creator and not blow smoke. The amount of fun tax anyone is willing to pay is up to them. 🍻
I absolutely love the Shiny Treasure set. With any release, there is hype that dies down, but the Charizard, Mew and Iono are absolutely amazing. All prices will go down EXCEPT maybe these three.
Edit: i pulled the Iono (rushed to PSA) and bought the Charizard on ebay for $260 🤤
Congrats! I think iono will only drop a little more. Zard, not sure, Mew I think is as low as it will get probably.
@@PokemonFamClub the artwork on Mew is great and the SAR's are so hard to pull, it would surprise me if it drops even lower.

It's called the Pokemon release pop & flop for a reason value will continue to drive down until a year or 2 and then it will start to recover.
I got lucky. The first and only box i pulled i got the SAR clive and the SSR mew... Along with shiny ditto. Jpn 151 is still the king this year and i would say V star universe (technically late 2022) is right behind it
I always hope for that kind of luck, that sounds like my dream box! Even Vstar is dipping a little, and I picked up a box with the tiktok coupons.
What people don't seem to understand either is that with each new cheap replication set that gets released that doesn't compare, the original better sets will thrive. The lackluster sets that have been printed thus far into SV will only bolster the prices of past sets. It'll take some time but just wait and you'll see as people flock to the Sun and Moon era more and more.

Bruh, this is Danny Phantump levels of set breakdown. I love it, man! You did a phenomenal job explaining your stances and perspectives of this set.
This set has me worried. It's the first high class set in a long time that, from the outside looking in, seems to have dipped in hype substantially in a very short period of time. It makes me wonder about the state of the hobby. Personally, I like a ton of the new Pokémon introduced to us from this gen but it may be failing in gaining a larger, more mainstream following. I guess one way of looking at it is it's good for us that stick around because it should translate into better deals and such but... will it really? A lot to unpack here but I'll leave it at that.
One last thing. What you mentioned about buying singles online. I always thought that this was the biggest drawback the hobby has suffered from grading. Having a shot at getting pristine raw cards that haven't been meticulously looked over then placed in a collector's sell pile because the condition wasn't up to snuff. I too, feel that a lot of stuff available raw is just someone else's reject card. It sucks. Of course you can just go looking for stuff in person but it definitely puts limitations on your options.

Thanks so much! Been watching him for years, since I wanted to start a store myself. Right around the time everyone was selling Celebrations UPC's for 4x cost and it was ticking me off. He has a wealth of info and I envy his ability to crank out videos almost daily. Set is a sign of the times, both in how much people have pulled back and how much pokemon is overprinting; but I think the pull rates also plague it. We'll see how Paldean Fates does, with Shining Fates still available under MSRP, I think people had enough shiny sets.

Ya, I just don't want people to learn the hard way, if it's important to them. I see too many people frustrated by ebay purchases, even myself, and others thinking pulling something themselves, pack fresh = 10, when it often doesn't. 🙏

The Japanese print quality is very bad at the moment. OC and printlines are very common right now. Don't buy!
The cranking out of pokemon on overtime has deffinitly taken its toll on print quality. 😱
As a ser builder japanese set is fun. Hit a God pack yesterday. It helped. So much fun. 20 years from now this set is going to be worth a fortune. My guess

Price for Japanese will crash even further with the release of the English set. Also, the English set is HEAVILY printed. So it will also crash.

Is there any set that you can get cheaper by ripping than buying singles? I never quite understand the argument about ripping vs buying singles when it's literally always cheaper to buy singles. But look at the excitement people get opening evolving skies. The odds of getting anything good is super low but they love to open it. Even with the moonbreon at 500 it's cheaper to buy the cards than rip to chase it. Singles about a month after release is a good time to look, and buying sealed (english) should always be bought below msrp, never above. I'll buy singles when I'm really in love with an artwork but otherwise ripping stays fun when I don't just go iut and buy my chases.
Yes, I don't mean to underplay the excitement of ripping and chance of hitting big. I guess on one hand, people see the excitement of hitting big, while I always remember the excessive rips with nothing that leave people saddened. ES at least has dozens of great cards you can get, but I would never go pay $450+ for a booster box and rip it. I guess I just try to explain the numbers and odds, give my personal opinion, and then people can decide how much fun they want to pay for.

Set is completely over run by baby shinies. Pokémon keeps trying to replicate the magic of Hidden Fates but it's just not going to happen as long as they put forth lackluster effort as they've done with this set and Shining Fates. Pathetically weak set
I think this set is really amazing because it’s really hard to hit the chase sar 🎉 the artwork is crazy cool
The SAR are hard to get and therfor more valuable. Surprisingly, the set is not flying off shelves and we can pick them up for $60 or less easily. Great set.

Fair point, not for $100+ cards. My point was more to make sure people understand they might not be getting what's pictured and there is a good chance they won't get a 10 if that's what they're gunning for.

crash or not I think this set is fire. it’s more of a price adjustment to things getting more realistic because the hype when it’s new always over inflates prices for every set.
Think it's a long term correction, not specific to the set, or the set itself is causing a correction?
@@PokemonFamClub I agree a lot of sets are getting price corrections. I think with this one in particular it’s getting the usual correction that happens once the hype and fomo die down just a little sooner than expected. great set though.

This is such a disappointing set. It doesn't feel "high class" at all. Should have given one baby shiny per pack with a chance to also get one SSR, IR, or SAR per box with a chance of a second. That would have been a fantastic opening experience.
I bought one box out of curiosity. Pulled the SSR Mew and still lost about $50 in value. Fun cost is way too high.
I like ripping it at $43. I'm not sure how often a bonus sr/sar/ur comes up. Didn't seem that often, but there sure are a lot on ebay. I'm guessing a lot of shops that bought in japan at distributor prices are ripping and selling singles to recoup cause they won't sell.
