- Hello! I'm an adventure / travel photographer and I've been living in a truck / SUV camper since July of 2018. I made this lifestyle change so I could always be outdoors and so I could camp / hike / explore as much as possible. I lived in a 2000 Toyota 4Runner at first, and now I reside in my newer, larger tiny house... a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. Let me know if you had any questions below! Thanks for watching.

Love this. Also, your setup is so dialed - it actually makes me miss living in my SUV. I'd like to request a guitar playing scene for the next video please 😉
suv life has it's perks 😉 and i will consider your request 🤔
thanks for always motivating me to start a channel!!!
I subscribed to him because i remembered his name from your videos , greetings from Portugal.

I have to agree. I’m a medic. I come in contact with a lot of homeless, and even though I like Bob Wells channel, it was hard for me to deal with the ones around here. Pretty sure they’re just homeless drug addicts. On that note I’ve been converting my Suburban off and on for years because I like to be mobile when I hunt. I think I finally figured out the configuration I want and im now building it out.
It's funny, initially when you hear that someone "lives in their car," you immediately imagine a horrid situation of a person who is doing it unwillingly, is unkempt and doesn't shower regularly. I'm seeing more and more videos of people who willingly live like this and are having a BLAST exploring this country.
there are a lot of misconceptions out there about roadlifers! have you seen the movie 'nomadland'? i felt like they only highlighted people that had fallen on hard times. but there are a lot of us out here by choice!
My hubby is nearly 60, I’m 55, we own both our houses, but we’re ripping out the back seats of our SUV, and prepping for our maiden tour next year, planning on 2-3 months, but who knows!🤷🏻♀️😂
Two years is committed too. Not just a trip
Yeah but they earn CZcams revenue
I did that also. Created a game plan . Worked and saved . Started my own business and moved into a house. Big mistake. Should have stayed living in the tahoe .
I went voluntary homeless for about 3 months living in a Nissan Rogue. Honestly was one of the most liberating experiences ever. Just being able to get up and go was a great feeling.
it really is the best feeling
I'm so glad you left this comment. I have a Nissan Rogue and have been wondering if I would be able to do this one day. I'm sure you're much younger than me :D, but it's promising to know it can be done. There aren't many videos of people living in Rogue's, lol.
In a few days I begin the same journey. Scared to death.

I hope your journey has been safe, comfortable and enlightening
This immaculate, efficient set up actually makes nomad life look practical. I see so many van tours where it's just chaos from bumper to bumper- definitely not something I could handle. Thanks for taking the time to put this tour together!
thank you! organization and tidiness is crucial for me- no room for messes when you live in a tiny space
@@NathanielWise i have an 06 sequoia that im setting up similarly to travel to every state park in the US and really just everwhere, that being what campsite is this?
One of the best SUV camper set ups I’ve. I can’t stand visual clutter so I love your tidy, minimalistic style. Great job!
thank you! minimalism is a key to happiness for me
I agree...
I LOVE how everything is in a container and the neatness of everything, this would make me so comfortable 😃
thanks for sharing.. watching here in UAE
He’s a photographer, so aesthetics are key. I am too. So you can imagine my car 😅
This is the most soothingly organized and minimalist (yet DIY doable for the novice) suv camper conversion I have seen. So many others are either cluttered chaos or require high level carpentry skills and/or money that I simply do not have. Thanks for giving me hope that this really is something I can do. 🤩🤩🤩
.....I also appreciated your comments on how the SUV can get into places where perhaps vans cannot go!
it's a big deal, having the extra maneuverability!
@@NathanielWise Did you completely remove the rear seats in the SUV or are they just folded down? Are you using the hot spot on your cell for internet or if not, what do you do for internet access? Finally, if you had it to do over, would you buy the Sequoia again or is there a different SUV you would get? Finally, why did you take off the running boards?
@@j.castino7585 Yep! totally removed them. Way more space that way. And yes- I use my hotspot. During non-covid times, I like to frequent coffee shops and libraries as well
Yup
We need more humble vanlife videos like this. It’s more inspiring
You are the most meticulous person ever ! I loved watching every bit of this. You have to stay organized when living in your vehicle. Good job! Post your day routines so we can see everything played out !
haha thanks! yes organization is key. i will be posting a second vlog / day in the life video this week that has some routine stuff
I second that. Routines would be awesome 😍
I'm so impressed with that kettle 😅 I had to pause to compose myself
hahaha i love mine
I’d love to see a video on your process of finding camp sites that are safe and good to go too. That’s my biggest worry before going out next year.
that's a great idea! i just wrote it down
Agreed!
Yes please. I have a Sequoia and am looking forward to road trips. Just need safe places for me & my dog.
@@koriburgess1239 you can almost never go wrong with state and national parks
I've watched a ton of vanlife/carlife videos and this is the absolute best one yet. Beginner friendly, economic, minimal and just very well planned out. Once I pass my drivers test I'm getting myself a SUV and leaving forever.
"True glove compartment" 🙂
it is!
You have brought my neat freak, suv living dreams to life!
As you showed the storage under the bed, I said to myself, "I'm in love with his organizational skills. This is exactly how I would keep my suv".
haha staying organized in an SUV is so crucial
oh my god how unbelievably neat you really marie kondo-ed the shit out of this car
😂 thanks!
😂😂😂 Marie-Kondo!! 👌🤓
Repent, Jesus christ is coming back. ,,
Did I miss the porta potty
The most well thought out build with tons of space.. Cheers
Totally impressive. I've been on the road four years. I think of myself as highly organized and the tools are use are minimal and multifunctional. You've given me A LOT of new ideas. Thank you for sharing!!
It´s really adorable how you explain where you store some items and then go "so yeah this is where they live". So much love =)
haha i love my little house
Sooo inspiring. I've looked at a ton of car camping videos and it's nice to see one that actually looks like somewhere I would like to live. Aesthetics are important to me and I really appreciate how organized and thoughtful your space is. The lift-up platform was very smart and the magnet light and popup kettle are new to me - very cool. Thanks!
appreciate that charlie 🙏 that means a lot. aesthetics are important to me as well. thank you for watching!
Love how simplistic your setup is. So many overland builds include heavy and expensive drawer systems, RTT, $1000 a corner King shocks, etc. Its refreshing to see how simple and relatively affordable it can be.
definitely man! you don't need all of that overpriced overlanding stuff
This is the life I would be living if I didn't choose to have kids 😅 Living vicariously through adventurers on CZcams helps me stay sane for now lol
The best most thought out SUV conversion I have seen so far. Well done. I am not surprized that you have lived in your SUV for as long as you have. Everything is organised, accessible and exactly what is needed for comfort in a small space. Love your coffee hub ☕👍 thanks so much for shsring.....inspired
Still watching this…this is one of the nicest, cleanest, most organized set up I have seen. Thinking about doing this for a road-trip maybe so I have been watching a lot of videos. This is the best so far…love your Pendleton blanket too😁
I love the small ideas that improve and add to our experiences. That fan is a brilliant idea.
After a few years in an SUV, you’ve really got organization and convenience nailed down! I love it!
This is the best setup I’ve seen yet. Very neat and tidy but still everything you need. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for watching! i've had a lot of time to dial in everything
The efficiency of your setup is so satisfying! You’ve really thought of everything!
2.5 years in an suv will teach you the importance of using space efficiently! haha
Wow - amazing organization! Tidy, neat and clean - I didn't think that was even possible. Really well thought out - fantastic product solutions too. Thank you so much for this inspirational tour.
My old van just crapped out on me and I decided to switch to an SUV. This gave me some awesome ideas, great set up!
suv life is great! thanks for watching, glad it helped 😊
Thank you so much for showing us your setup. It’s super well thought out and I live the simple yet incredibly organized vibe. I would absolutely adore a video on building the platform/more details around that. I don’t have any building skills but it looks pretty simple if I had more info. Thanks again!
That is a great set-up you have. A feat of miniature logistics 🙂 I love it, thanks for making the video, Nathaniel.
thanks! it took some time to fine-tune it to the setup it is today, but i am happy with it
WOW, literally the MOST organized and minimalistic yet efficient car camping set-up ever!!! Thank you for sharing!
I absolutely love the way you set up your suv. I love your organization skills. I love photography and taking pictures of nature and wildlife and animals. I have much respect for you. I'm getting ready to get a minivan or small campervan to live in full-time. I have much respect for you and what you do for a living.
I wish my setup was this organized - simple, yet elegant. Good use of space. I'm doing something similar out of my FWD Honda Pilot.
thanks 🙏 i wasn't this organized when i started. the more time i spent in it, the more tinkering i did
@@NathanielWise Well, I did my share of internet & CZcams research, which certainly helped, but there's nothing like living with your decisions regarding a nomadic life. I've been at it for about 5 of the last 6 months, and have enjoyed the challenge of accentuating the positive, and eliminating the negative.
I really like the soft sided storage! Much nicer that lots of plastic bins… great video, hope all is well!
Efficiency, minimalism and immaculate, practical organization at their finest. Nice build 👍🏼
This felt almost therapeutic haha! Love how organized and well thought out everything is.
What a tidy setup. Everything in its place. I could live in your vehicle easily and feel comfortable. Thumbs up!
thanks! happy you enjoy it
Yay! Everything is so neatly packed and organized!! 🙌💕
organization is key!
My favourite SUV living set up so far. Thanks for posting the product references!
I admire how neat, clean and organized you are! Great vid. Thanks.
Those opening shots are stunning! Been following over on Instagram forever, stoked to see the CZcams journey!
thanks mate! lots of learning to do with video and editing but i'm happy to be here!
Most organized SUV dweller EVER! I aspire to be that good!
well thank you!
Wow. You showed me the Sequoia possibilities. Thank you. I’m working on transforming my vehicle.
👍Cool. I love Sequoias....they can be used for almost anything, any purpose. Thanks for sharing. 💝
That's a nicer setup than the truck I lived in when I drove OTR
i've had a lot of time to tinker with things 🙏
I love how you keep your car so organized. Great layout.
it’s pretty crucial for me 🙏
Inspiring! It's fun to see how perfectly thought out every piece of gear is in your choice and placement. Great stuff!
Thank you, I am working on my freedom plan .. Love your simple neat life.. Life your life brother !!!
Just bought a Tahoe to do this. Thanks for all of the great ideas. Good to know they've been tested over years and work.
heck yeah- tahoe would be a great roadlife rig. similar size to the sequoia i believe
Isaiah, converted a '05 Suburban and it works well. Removed rear seats. Figured out how to open the back hatch/window from inside. Added an extra battery. It works really well.
The view is so beautiful. I used to go for the weekends and sleep in my jeep instead of a hotel when I traveled. My ex would join me. That 10 yrs ago. I am wanting to do that again. ❤
You are very organized.
Easy to see being clean and tidy is definitely the way to go.
Really awesome setup.
Thank you for the tour.
CZcams algorithm brought me here and have to say, it was well worth it. I like your simple setup. Looking forward to seeing some of your photography and editing practices/tips because your IG photos are amazing! Subscribed.
thanks man! happy you enjoy my photos. definitely looking to incorporate some of that in this channel as well!
Oh this kind of organization is perfect!
organization is important! i may be addicted
Love the simplicity and space. Thank you!👍😎🇨🇦
Super organized! Luv it!
I love how well organized and neat your set up is. 👍🏻
thanks! it's really important to me to be organized in such a tiny space
It's such a great use of space, amazing
i've had a lot of time to make adjustments! pretty happy with it now
So neat, tidy and functional. Love it!
Love your set up and the list is amazing...Wow...lots of great information..thanks!
So organized, love it! Great video and such a fun adventurous life. 🙏🏻
thanks for watching!
Very nice video, love the set up.
Stove recommendation: Jetboil Genesis Basecamp System Camp Stove
I got it last October and absolutely love it. 2 burner stove and uses the same propane cans you currently use.
It has great simmer controls. It’s a little pricey but you get what you pay for.
It’s very compact as well.
👍🏆🥳This is the most impressively organized and beautifully clean and simple and COMFORTABLE build of any kind of the many hundreds I have ever seen…not just for an SUV, but also for a mini-van!! ❤️Thank you for sharing your inspiring home on wheels with us! 🥇
Love the fact that you can take everything out easily and have a regular car again! I’m a college student with interest in having a car that can function for living and as just a regular vehicle. Totally going to show this to my dad!! Maybe have a new building project on our hands....
Sweet, I've been looking for a Sequoia build forever. Thanks for making this!
for sure! they're great rigs
So organized! It’s a great setup. I’d love to see a more detailed video on the evolution of your power setup, how each of them worked, what the power means practically in terms of charging different items.
good idea- can definitely do a video explaining my power setup, from past to present
Wow this is the life I really want.Thx for sharing and all nice tips.
Fabulous loved your SUV set minimal super tidy and compact..Thank you for sharing..God bless you and your travelling..🇬🇧
Wow yours is the simplest conversion yet, but it's so well thought out.
thanks!
This gave me some great ideas. I’m fitting a sienna so I’ll be able to build the platform a bit higher and build a pull out kitchen.
nice! happy i could help a little
Wow, so neat and tidy. Just, wow.
I usually get anxious looking at other SUV set ups because they are so messy usually, but your organization is very calming!! Love that fan set up!
You are the neatest and most organized person I've seen.
thanks! i love organization haha
You're the most organized van/car/suv dweller that I've seen on CZcams so far. Everything seem so simple yet practical. Would love to see a video about how you started this life, how it's been and do you do it full time?
thank you! great suggestion, added that to my list
I’ve been thinking about doing this for years. Hopefully summer will be my time to jump and just do it. Thanks for the helpful content.
I’m so inspired by your video! I’ve been searching for info to help get my 4 Runner setup for camping. Thank you!
Really enjoyed the intro cinematography and music. You definitely have an artist's eye.
thank you!
you are super tidy man.. inspirational
thanks! tidiness is important in such a tiny space
Why am I just finding this. I have had my 2005 toyota sequioa for 5 years and this is the exact reason I got it for. Amazing job!
Thank you for the tour. Very inspiring.
Love the neatness 😋
neatness is key to happiness in a tiny space haha
This is random but I like the colors you have going on lol.
haha thanks! me too
Very organized, very functional, very self-sufficient setup. Congrats!
im just so amazed how organized you are with your things🥰🥰🥰you were able to arranged them in a very small space 👍
Great setup! I love how neat and organized it is.
thanks!
You're welcome
You’re the king of organization Nathaniel, well done with your new channel!
thanks man!
I love how well thought out your camper is - and how tidy you keep it
thanks! i love organizing
Very good and very well put together and thank you for sharing. It's lovely to see the ideas that people have and I hope you are still enjoying the travelling.
Gorgeous video! I’ve always wanted to try living in a van or some other converted vehicle.
thanks! you should definitely give it a try
Beautiful shots. As always.
Also, I would like your blankets and pillow. Thank you.
coziness is key when you live in a vehicle
You are tidy and well prepared, thanks for sharing.
Very inspiring, Sir! Wish I’d had an option like this at your age! All we had were little Subaru 4x4s. This looks great, and I loved your comments about 4x4 vs vans! Enjoy these years, someday you’ll be looking back glad you documented this time in your life!
That's a really smart way to live in a SUV! Happy trails!
thanks for watching!
I don’t know how you got in my recommended but I’m making sure your staying
me neither! but thanks for watching haha
What a view! 🫶🏼
This is so awesome! Thanks for making this video!
This setup is so dialed. I love how you didn't build a huge high bed platform and lose all your headspace. Instead you have a really neat way to lift up the platform to access your gear.
This was so well done for your first video bro! Can’t wait for some more vlogs to come :)
thanks man! lots to learn. excited to be here!
Love the set up in the Toyota Sequoia! I'm taking notes on some of the stuff you got!
Now THIS is how it’s done!! Great video 👍🏼
