  • In this video, we meet the youth members of the planning committee of the Grey-Bruce Defeat Depression 2022 fundraising and awareness building event. The event is happening on May 28th, 2022 at the Mildmay Arena. The committee is made up of an amazing group of young adults, all with their own reasons for being involved!
If watching this video as part of the We C.A.R.E. Share event in a classroom, please follow up with the following discussion questions.
    CONNECT:
Connection is critical. We always do better when we feel a connection with the people around us. Charlie talked about reaching out to services and never giving up until she found the right Connection. Why do you think a good connection is important for your mental health?
    ASK:
The GBDD committee members talk about the importance of asking the community to get involved in their event. It reminds us that “it takes a village” to have a healthy community. Do you know what that saying means? What does it mean to you?
    REACH OUT:
The volunteer committee members became involved in the GBDD event because they wanted to make a difference to services in their area. If you could describe a new service or a new way to offer a service that you would like to see for youth, what would it be.
    ENCOURAGE:
Darcy and Charlie talked about how their passion for the topic of mental health encouraged them to take a leadership role in their community. Is there a time you took a leadership role in your school? In your community? How did it feel to take on that role?
