- We do a quick first-drive review on the newly released Porsche 911 Carerra T. This car blends most of the desired performance features for far less money making it one of the most attractive options on the Porsche lineup. Others to consider are Lexus LC500, Corvette C8, and BMW M4 CS.

As a car enthusiast, how can you NOT be a Porsche fanboy. Honestly... perfect cars.
I'd take a Taycan.
Boring looks, plain interior, WAY WAY overpriced
The people who cannot afford one
@patrickbai4708 I own one. I told my friend (who wasn't really into cars but now is sold on the brand) the same thing. It's a good and bad thing at the same time.
Problem is, if you don‘t like their designlanguage, you will never like porsches because they always looked the same
Finally, a Porsche review. My friends and I are going to Applebee's for appetizers and drinks later tonight and we are very excited to talk about what a bargain this Porsche is.
Half price I hope
25%. It's black friday...
lol
Lol
U guys r gonna have a wonderful time.
With such an affordable base MSRP of $117,000, I don't think I'll even have to give up avocado toast to buy one.
If you buy it, drive it 3-5 years, and take care of it, you should be able to recover a lot of that. Depends on the model, but I'm just saying, it's not a totally sunk cost if you don't wreck it.
Dealerships are adding markups and optioning these up like crazy already. Forget enthusiast models until Porsche does direct sales.
@@roots4xDealerships are doing to the automotive industry whay Lehman brothers did to the housing industry in ‘08. Their time is almost up and the calamity that follows will result in direct sales being mainstreamed.
@@NarasimhaDiyasenaThe only thing I lament though is that a lot of these sales jobs will go away essentially to lower cost delivery jobs. I'm not in sales, but many people make good livings in sales.
You're not really "recovering" it. @@bb5242
2021 base Carrera owner here. 15000 miles so far. In relation to my experience, you guys descriptions of this vehicle are spot on. What a great road car.
I hope they don’t become all electric by the time I can afford one :,)
@@aadilfaizal853 Luckily, you can buy them used for less (in most cases) :)
@@aadilfaizal853 dont worry. I dont think electric is the future. Keep working hard. The reward is worth it.
@@tjabaley It absolutely is, whether you like it or not.
2021 Taycan 4S owner with 15k miles as well. Similar experience :D
The 911 silhouette is timeless
There's so much demand for the manual gearbox from car enthusiasts who also happen to be the ones who buy these sports cars, I just don't understand why manufacturers like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Audi don't make them anymore. Kudos to Porsche for still keeping the manuals alive!
I own a 991 T , and can’t ever see a moment when I’ll have to sell. It’s gives you everything you need for road Porsche. I’m toying with upping to power to 450, but its beautiful as it is
The guy that owns the company I work for has the “regular” carrera 911. He let me drive it last week. I finally understand why Jack nutts his pantaloons over these things. It was one of the few things I’ve encountered in my 34 yrs on planet earth that lived up to its formidable reputation.
Yes, I thought it was all fan boy crap then I drove a Cayman and Panamera. Both were on another level. They are expensive for a reason.
@@DebianDog what really surprised me was actually the base Macan, not even my GT4
@@DebianDog The older cars with potential IMS issues aren't worth it. Not every Porsche is on another level. Older Cayman generations are pretty pedestrian by today's standards. That said, a modern Porsche still sets the standard for other sports cars.
They are great cars until you own one and actually have to turn a wrench on it. Garbage vehicles to maintain and fix.
Loved the 991.2 Carrera T, love this one too! It's irrefutable that the base engine and manual transmission are far and away the best for daily driving enjoyment.
🦬 💩
Indeed a car designed and built by driving enthusiasts. What a nice vehicle to own.
i want to own one someday but it just seems so far away or impossible without being financially irresponsable and making a stretch purchase
life is short - stretch - make dubious financial decisions. As long as you don't wreck it, you'll be able to sell it for not much of a loss, if any
@@housydoing i feel this is simultaneously good and bad influence 😂
Only problem they’re really getting up there in price
I’ve owned them for 35 years, I always just buy the least expensive
But now that’s over 100 grand
Oof that's unobtainium despite being a "value trim."
Adjusted for inflation its cheaper than an aircooled 964 and 993.
@@tedlazakis5670 Ted
Your right I think my 964 cost 80 grand?
I didn’t mind the price as much when I was still working
I’m just getting old
@@tedlazakis5670 thanks to inflation a dollar in 1910 would be 1000$ today.
My dad when he was alive hated Porsches (he was probably scared of em, me thinks) supposedly because they were too expensive but he had a bunch of Alfas and Peugeots in America. Any way you put it a Porsche would have been a better investment...
Especially with the rear seat removed, the 718 GTS is a lot more car for $91k vs $117k for the 911 T. However, I understand the driving experience of a rear engine Porsche is significantly different than a mid-engine variant.
Yeah, when they were talking about comparison cars I was thinking all the way through: this or the 4.0 Cayman? Tough call, and as you say, the absence of rear seats in this makes it tougher still
Agreed. For me, subjectively, it’s the looks of the 911 that I like better.
Yes, I currently own a 718 GTS 4.0 and I previously owned a 2019 Carrera T and I see no reason to purchase this car over my 718 other than it is a 911 over a Cayman. I got my 2019 T at a small discount and my dealer called recently offering me a new Carrera T allocation for $10k over MSRP. I do not see this car as the same value as the 991.2, especially not at $10k over retail. The engine in the 4.0 is a lot more special, in my opinion and the 718 GTS has all the performance parts and then some that this T has. Seems like a great car but too expensive at this point and not the value that the previous car was. The only advantage to this car is you can tune it and get the same power as a Carrera S for a lot less money.
Rear seats are a $0 option, which I would get 10/10 times.
Difference is there is so much more interior room and the entire interior is modern and not half a decade old in terms of electronics and screens and such.
I really love your Porsche deep dive series! It really seem like Porsche is the pinnacle of automotive engineering, isn’t it?
It is!
I worry that porsche is now more interested in making more and more rather than better and better
Always has always will be
"It really seem like Porsche is the pinnacle of automotive engineering, isn’t it?" Is that the excuse for not having as much passion and soul - and as many charming flaws - as Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo? 🙃🙂 I kid, they are obviously very good but terribly German and Teutonic. Italian sportscars of course have a different flavour, as do Japanese sportscars as do British ones. I'm not sure it is as simple as saying one type of sportscar is "the pinnacle". The 911 is certainly the most developed flat-six rear engined sportscar but the new (rebodied Evora) Lotus Emira is also very good as is the new Ferrari 296 in a higher price bracket or the McLarens, or the GTR or NSX on the Japanese side of things...
@@TassieLorenzo spoken like someone who hasnt driven a porsche lol
Perfect review. The talk/drive ratio is just right. 👍
this was my first SG video... really enjoy the format and at just under 12 minutes, it's the perfect length for a review. SUBSCRIBED.
The poor man's GT3 and that is a compliment. I am on the waitlist for 1.
That's why even though I've never owned a Porsche yet, I love these awesome machines because for all their great and fabulous engineering most of all Porsches are so user friendly, they're just so incredibly thought out and they make any driver feel like Michael Schumacher. Awesome, supremely built machines that can be the weekend racer to the everyday commuter if you're so inclined. But my Porsche model is the Cayman S & GT4. But you can't go wrong with any of their models... Simply Amazing Automobiles. A million thanks, Rest In Peace Mr. Ferdinand Porsche, and how we adore your creations and the Porsche Brand.
You describe the 911 better than someone who owns one.
Your videos keep getting better and better. Nice work guys
Awesome guys, as always. Its just a nice pleasure with your reviews.
Finally,a true fun video about cars from best reviewers.
We got the S with 7 speed manual, rear-drive only, no rear axle steer, no PASM, no PDCC, no front axle lift, no sunroof, no lane-keeping, so it's driver's car. It's very close to this current T model but with more horsepower and bigger brakes. It''s probably 250 pounds lighter than a fully loaded C4S.
I might have ordered this car had it been offered in 2021 but with price increases, this car now costs what we paid for ours.
as an enthusiast owner of a 991..2 911T , Im so pleased that there is now a 992 generation of this amazing 911 variant - sweet spot 100% - go get one , I love mine a keeper forever
Enjoy in good health. 991.2 Carrera T is hard to beat, except I wanted it in a wide body. Now the 992 let's me get the full package. Looking forward to owning one in the future.
Another informing and entertaining video from you guys...thanks...
I see that Patagonia is now selling its fleeces in Porsche variant colors. Nice one Mark.
Love this channel...thanks for the content guys
SG is the only channel where I hit like immediately as the video begins.
Yea you nailed it Jack. The Carrera has always been my favourite. Porsche makes perfect cars. They don’t make base models!
You guys are the best. Made my day. Thank you.
Great driving footage and ... sound!
I love how people say the 911 is old, boring, etc. it’s one of the best selling sports cars of all time. The fact and sales figures prove that a LOT of people like them. From the base models to the Turbo S, they all sell well. How many production cars have beat the Turbo S in a drag race - not many.
"It’s one of the best selling sports cars of all time." Yes, outdoing the 911 is a nut that the likes of Lotus have tried and failed to crack.
The fluid body lines with the wide hips of the 911 are so sexy. In combination with a bright color its just a timeless beauty. And don't get me even started with the engineering that is as close to perfection as possible
Excellent video
Amazing road/ corniche
The forward facing camera shots in this video are really good.
You both are right about this car. This is best car made now. Porsche knows what they are doing. Thanks for the nice review..
I just ordered a Carrera T and can’t wait to drive it.
The Steve McQueen movie “Le Mans” was made over 50 years ago and this 911 makes some of the same beautiful sounds heard in that movie from the 917. This car must be an absolute thrill to own.
I agree wholeheartedly that this IS the sweet spot in the 992 lineup because I own the equivalent in the 718 lineup via a 2021 Cayman T. All of the good stuff standard (PTV, Sport Exhaust, S-PASM, 20" wheels, short-shifter, etc.) from the 718 GTS minus the NA 4.0. If you don't care about leather-wrapped everything, the current gen Ts in the 992 and 718 lineup are super-hard to beat. Mine is a perfect driver's car and gets compliments everywhere I go.
If you know, you know.
Great video on a great car. makes me rethink my Cayman S. Love the blurred speedo!
My wife has a 2023 base Macan and we love it. I would love to get the Carerra T in the manual. All you need to have a lot of fun.
Great review fellas
I appreciate the smaller brakes, it would have been nice if they put more sidewall on the wheel setup.
This car is everything what a car fanatic could ever want. Its got the looks, performance, quality, sportiness, and everything else. Soon the time will come to pick mine up!
I am a simple man. I see green 911, I click.
It sounds like an absolute masterpiece. Just listening to it is exciting
Have had 4 Porsches in my life 993 C4S and turbo, 996 GT3 and 997.1 turbo..... I think the 911T with big brakes will be the most fun new Porsche out there for the road. GT3RS and GT4RS for the track.
Went to a Porsche track day, they had the 911S, 911T and Cayman GTS (2L turbo). Between the 911S and the T, I preferred the S, but the Cayman GTS was the most fun.
Well done video. And a great explanation of why this car is amazing.. the three pedal cars are the only cars I would buy new or used.
I appreciate that this vid is so much about all sports cars, not just the car in the title (-8
In Farah territory, doing it 10x better. 👍
Yep. And on the flip side, could you imagine how bad a Farah video filmed in their Illinois stomping grounds would be?
Really? I say that not to be a dick either. I don't really like listening to Farah talk about anything else but cars because he gives off major douche vibes, but I enjoy him speaking about cars. He communicates the experience well.
These cinematic shots though *chef's kiss*
I subscribed to SavageGeese and now I can afford to take my old lady to Olive Garden more than once a year.
I love the Python Green. It drips of the 1970's era of bold COLORS. We're in the era of 50,000 Shades of Grey. (And here I own a Carbon Steel Metallic GTI because it was a garaged, 1-owner with 39K miles with all the right performance options, and I would be dumb to not buy it... I really wanted a Cornflower Blue GTI, but they're rare and overpriced or have 80K miles...)
Great vid
Porsche has come a long way, I remember sitting in a brand new 911 with my grandpa at the 1991 Montreal auto show, the interior felt like a kit car 😂
That's because the 964 model generation was just an updated 1964 911 -- it's all the first generation 911. Since the 928 was supposed to replace the 911, the 911 didn't really get developed. 🙂
This thing is perfect with the sport bucket seats and classic five spoke wheels
Buckets are a must
@@squidwardshouse67 and now they're running out of them haha
I got a laugh on the epic fail trying to mask/blur out doing 100 mph on the speedometer on the canyon road ...... ROFL !!!!!! Great Content - thanks for the laugh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish I could afford one of these! The 911T is definitely the one I would own if I could.
128 months %10 apr the car.
@@nelzelpher7158 holy no lol
I suggest you consider a Subaru BRZ or Toyota GR 86.
Carbon bucket seats and rear delete don't convey "touring" to me. What am I missing here?
Yes, touring to me means a GT car that is a smidge softer for long trips.
Best bang for yo buck in the 911 range 👌🏼
Man, that exhaust is orgasmic
Grew up in Illinois. My dad sold you the GR86 in St Charles. Lived in SoCal for the last 6 years never seen a wild cat. This 911 so good you just brush over the rarity of that sighting lmao
Best review yet of the T. Please share your thoughts on the exhaust. Is the OEM Sport Exhaust enough or will it need help from the aftermarket. Asking for a friend ;-)
Its more than enough
Aftermarket exhaust don’t really sound better, they’re mostly just louder and most sound worse. The factory PSE is ideal tone to me, no drone, and definitely louder outside than you realize.
@@joeracer302 I wonder if the T will be louder inside due to lightweight glass and less insulation.
@@AdamIsAdam Yes they are.
@@Cyua_ isn't the light weight class also less loud? It's that wayu if you spec it in the s model
Another masterpiece of automotive journalism
A mountain lion?? Extremely rare sighting up there!
Wish all your brand reps were as good as Porsche. Seems like you guys get every car you want from them.
Porsche 911, the definition of evolution.
Wow Jack, didn't know you bought a C8 Z06!? Congratulations my guy!! Arguably the greatest sports car ever made 🤣 can't say I blame you
Porsche Light Weight Buckets are a MUST - - - even if you want the comforts, buy these later and sell your LWBs for €10k +
You guys saw a Mountain Lion! Truly rare sight.
Would you recommend this or a used low-mileage CPO 991.2 T with Buckets, Rear Axle Steer and Ceramic Brakes?
Soundtrack from this review should be available to buy.
Oh goodness, manual available. Yessss. Literally everything I wanted in a 911 (I mean, if I could actually afford one)
Porsche = end game for canyon lovers - I ran into a bunch of PCA members - they were all on their 2nd - 7th Porsches / fans / buyers for life.... one guy told me: "once you go porsche, you never go back..."
Man, I crave for this car
Perfection!
That guy is throwing that car bro, great
I live RIGHT THERE! UGH I just want to buy you guys a beer. Or some Arby's. I love you guys.
So only Dakar left? Great video!
Oh nice! You guys were in my neck of the wood (literally) How did you like Angeles Crest Highway?
Agree 100%…….perfect retirement gift too
sounds great for a turbo car. difficult choice between this and a cayman GT4,
Are the brakes really that weak/fade prone? Whatever track day I do (and I'm sure you do as well), I put in DOT4 racing brake fluid.
Do you think that change alone would do the trick?
Yes, will be fine with stock tires. Just drive with the stock pads until the wear out, then replace with any of the common options Ferrodo/Pagid/Endless/Porterfield/etc. Once you start putting sticky tires on the brakes will start generating even more heat, they won’t fade with good pads/fluid, but the rotors will start wearing out faster. At that point you can go to the common 350mm rotor upgrades (AP/Giro), but the best option if you’re doing a lot of track days is a BBK. There will also eventually be the factory carbon brakes offered, but those are another discussion on their suitability for heavy track use. The T is the ultimate canyon/street 911, and does fine as an occasional track toy, but honestly, if you want to do a lot of track days there are better suited and less expensive options to consider
@@skellington2000 That's why true Porsche nuts buy an older water-cooled 911 with no sunroof and a manual (and pay a premium ironically enough for not having fancy options), so they can bang it around a track. That's one reason the formerly unloved 996 models are starting to escalate in price, but they're still way cheaper than buying newer models. Long as you take care of the IMS bearing, 996s are fantastic cars for track use. And if you want cheaper, early 986 Boxsters with hard tops and 987 Caymans are common track vehicles. And all of these are easy to find parts for and upgrade.
The driving shots in this video were great makes me wish they lived somewhere with interesting roads rather than the generic farm road they normally shoot on. Still great video!!
I’ve driven angeles crest over 100 times
In Z28

Ducati Desmo / SL / 1098R
It’s one of THE great roads ⭐️
Love all your work
Can you test 718 Spyder
and a Stelio QV if you get them please 🙏🏻
they already have a video on the 718 Spyder, it was great!
I'm just sad, having to acknowledge the fact that I'll never be able to afford a 911. These cars are cool and I'm sure they're great to drive. They're just Unobtainium for so many. I'd really be interested in seeing a breakdown of the best used sports cars for under $50k right now. I think it would be cool to include slightly-used cars as well. I'm considering the Boxer, TTS, Miata, M2, and a few others.
Sadly even a 10 or even 15 year old 911 which has 60k or more miles runs over $50k these days.
@@glennhavinoviski8128 Yeah and you probably can't afford to maintain it, no matter how much you want it.
You can at least rent one for a day or so at the local Porsche Experience Center
Rent one on Turn then thrash it. It's $500 of the best money you'll ever spend...
Prices got out of control during the pandemic, but might eventually return to normal. In 2019 I picked up a 997.2 C4S with a manual nicely optioned for $47k. Yes it had 80k miles, but it was pristine. And it has only required normal maintenance thus far. I have to believe that eventually that type of price point will return especially for 997s and 991.1s.
Just got my stingray C8 on a 2 year wait for a carrera s but don’t know if it will ever come
1:21 Woah. Anyone notice the amount of weights in the wheels?
Lotus emira is a 3 pedal option
Stage 1 and you get at least S power… very nice but what would you choose this 992 T or a GT4/GTS 4.0?
Another great review. But Porsche doesn't show the carbon buckets option on the build page.
There is actually a thread on Rennlist saying these are in short supply, at least for the Spyder/GT4 platform
“Assuming your dealers don’t bend you over” the ones here want $15k over sticker lol. I’m keeping my 991.2 T. Dealers lost their damn minds during the pandemic.
The excitement builds over a cheaper 911, then the price reveal, then back to reality.
This is the one for me
@savagegeese now after you've driven both a Carrera S and T, both equipped with manuals, which would you choose for daily driving and weekend blasting?
Carrera T or the new Lotus Emira manual? Leaning towards the Porsche but the fresh styling on the Lotus is very attractive.
Like the weight , easy to mod too I bet. This might just be the sweet spot.
Yes - 450+whp on just a tune. Its more than enough for the street or track.
I entered #fun and found this video.
Great review and the Z09/06 comparison is dead on. The current Corvette is not a pleasing car to drive (or look at, I just see a Ferrari knock off), not in the way that the Porsche makes you feel like Iron Man, and let's you experience the road. Thanks again!!
Wow, It is Exotic
@savagegeese Mark, you said everyone should get rear steer. I have a 992 GTS coupe on order and am not selecting the Rear Axle Steer (RAS) due to the fact it forces you into a lithium Ion battery which has a 6 year replacement cycle at $2,5000 a crack. I don't want the complexity or maintenance for that system. Even my Porsche tech has said he has seen some issues with the lithium ion battery and availability. Any thoughts given that context and long term ownership plans with limited track time involved with this car for me?
I have a cayman T, and i lovvvve it. Is it worth to try to nab a 911 T?
