  • A detailed explanation about why is not a good idea to change the engine oil grade or oil weight of your car , how oil and oil pressure works and what can be the dis-advantages of changing the oil grade over short and long periods of time . There are few essential things to keep in mind like oil pressure and the thickness of the lubricating film created by that oil around the moving components inside the engine

    Wonderful and very informative videos as usual. I have a polo 2013 TDI Highline, can I replace my headlight assembly with the double-barrel ones in the new-gen polo? Do you recommend the after-market projector ones? I am not sure about the quality. The stock ones on my vehicle are pathetic for nighttime driving.

      Sir if you want to have proper usable light on road the OEM double barrel lamps are the best for that , aftermarket lights are mostly cosmetic and usability of the light is questionable .
      And if you want to swap for OEM , as far as i know its a direct plug and play with just 1 wire which needs to be adjusted .

    Talked correctly about the pressure but there's a minor hiccup. Both would work fine for a given temperature, the upper limit would widely vary at higher temps. So I think both perform similarly given the temperatures. Thus, your argument is kind of dependent on temperature as the w40 or w30 means the optimal flow and viscosity rate of that particular oil at its highest operating temperature. So technically you can use 5w30, given you live in a cool temperature area.

      Just check the turbo charge pressure lines and hoses for any leaks ( intercooler as well )
      MIL is showing up due to difference between the specified value and actual value ( what ECU is expecting and what its getting )
      Hope it helps

      @@yourDIYneeds The earlier K series engine (UPTO 2011/12) require a 5W30 grade Engine oil. But later on, Maruti modified the engine to use low friction pistons, rings and bearings. Thus the later cars came with a 0W20 recommendation which again in 2017 was changed to 0W16. 0W16 will cause unecessary stress on the engine components. If your manual recommends 5W30, you can switch to 5W40 but nothing greater than that. 0W16 will cause severe engine damage. If you want better mileage, the best you can do is to buy a ACEA A5/B5 certified engine oil. If will make sure you get better mileage and stick to your company's recommended grade, since it is a thinner oil than normal 5W30. Also switch to fully synthetic.

Generally the 5w30 oils are used for extended drain intervals (30k Kms) in the Europe, but in the Indian weather and stop go traffic it is not suitable. So we should stick to the 15k or 1 year criteria.

It is best to use oils that come with VW specifications, but if you cannot find them, any good oil with same grade should do. But make sure to change the oil earlier than specified in the manual. I've known a person, who didn't used VW specified oils for his VW TDI and yet his car runs perfectly at 1,00,000 kms. What he did was, changed his oil before the manual recommended interval and he sticked to 5W40 grade oil.

      And this video was not just for VW owners it was meant for everyone , so thats why i didn't mention any approval or comparison of India vs european intervals . The whole crux was , if you have a vehicle which is like 5-6 yrs old and uses 5w30 or 5w40 and you want to switch to 0w20 , its not a good Idea , because your engine is not designed for it .

    Hey There, I have a 2016 1.5 TDI Vento DSG. I always get confused about which oil to be used whenever a service is due. Does it really matter which brand we are using if it's a genuine 5W40? Also in your experience which oil is best for lower engine noise and good fuel economy? I know in one of your video you recommended Toptec but not sure where can we get a genuine one.

      @@yourDIYneeds EcoSport Diesel. 5w40 means that the oil will be efficient or work well between 5-40℃ . This is my understanding and I am open for another definite answer as well

      @yourDIYneeds  Před 2 lety +1

      Sir as per the oil data sheets
      5w40 is good in range of ( -30°C to 40°C ) ambient temperature.

      Sir if someone use his car for track days then its a good idea to change the oil grade in that case you can lower the first number and increase the second number but not visa versa , but for everyday driving , you default oil grade is more that what we need
