Wow, what a small world! I went high school in Hanau and Uni in Mannheim. Otocinclus are tinier, but school really well and are very efficient in taking down all that algae and decomposing plant matter. I have mine paired with different breeds of Hillstream loach for an efficient and quirky clean-up crew.

Dennison Barbs are really great at schooling they fullfill all your requirements that u told. How ever you should know they are very fast fish and sometimes if they get scared they can jump out so using a lid is recommended. Alot of times when I pick something up something from under the aquarium when the aquarium was at low light. The fishes dash away and I always hear one or two hitting the top lid because they jumped out. Other than that you can watch them for hours since they school so well. It is mesmerizing. They are slightly on the bigger size and not as aggressive as other barbs. I am sure you wife will love them.

I only stick to dry start when planting these foreground plants. I think cyano bacteria are sufficiently prevented by controlling the lighting time.

First, I love the diffuser inside my tank so I can see the water flow through the bubble mist of co2. Second, the rummy nose tetra is a good idea thou the red color will boom the view. 😉 great work btw 👍👍

I think H. araguia is suffering from ammonia toxicity.
I had severe melting issues few months ago with my 120L and it looked exactly like that. Melting starts from roots and creeps up while shoot tip looks fine and sometimes even photosynthesizes...until eventually melts away. Almost all of TC plants died and few survivors coud not make roots and stunted in a place.
It is indeed possible to kill plants with ammonia, especially when they are newly introduced to fresh soil enriched further with ferts.
TCs are known to be more susceptible but pots also can be affected (This was less common on pots for me. My guess is the potted plants weren't as healthy to start with.)
There are species differences and for me most stems weren't very resilient. Eriocaulon species seem to love it tho.
I had to replace all melting plants and did 90% WC daily for a week or 2. After that things are going smoothly.

Also, go for an inline reactor for this large tank.
Great that you’re including the wife in your scaping decisions!
I also appreciate the nod to the ADA style and the classic plant glosso. Please don’t do araguai at the rock base since it’s been done already by Glass Aqua. Maybe try dwarf hairgrass instead.

I simply would love to see the ADA ferts discussed in detail. And (1st) Rummy Nose tetra is pure joy; there are so many great choices. My other considerations would be (2nd) Buenos Aires Tetra (hyphessobrycon anisitsi), and then others Blue tetra (Boehlkea fredcochui), and the Black line tetra (moenkhausia costae tetra) and Copei tetra (moenkhausia copei), and the Congo tetra's are great, but not sure they prefer Iwagumi style.

From my experience the key to small low laying glossostigma is super high light. As much light as you can get without making algae issues. Once the light is to weak the glosso starts to get tall and large leaf. But not sure if this is always the case.

Hey, you have to keep your ro water in a seperat tank/bottle bevor put it into the tank. In the seperat tank you can put your minerals in and let the temerature grow. For filling up the fishtank you can use a pump with maybe 1500l/h and pump it into the fishtank if its ready. It is ten times better for shrimp and plants.
    Have a nice day

As for the choice of fish, I recommend Espei Rasbora (Trigonostigma Espei) for their schooling behaviour as well as their colors are more vibrant than a typical Harlequin Rasbora (Trigonostigma Heteromorpha) that ranges from dark orange-ish to copper which really pops in this classic Iwagumi aquascape.

I like the classic iwagumi style you have there. Looking forward to see it grown in a few weeks. About the glossostigma, i think the light intensity is too weak for her to grow more to the width than to the hight. You got 28 - 30 lumens per liter with that Twinstar. That is maybe ok for growing as such, but for carpeting i think 40 lum/l and more would by much better.

But yeah, maybe it is a new Glossostigma elatinoides "dennerlesis" species :) I am curious.

    Red Dwarf Rasbora (Microrasbora rubescens)
    Clown Rasbora (Rasbora kalochroma)
    Red Line Rasbora (Trigonopoma pauciperforatum)
    Blue Line Rasbora (Rasbora sarawakensis)
    Black Line/Red-tailed Rasbora (Rasbora borapetensis)

Awesome inspirations. I guess my next tank gonna be 120 size :) I look forward to hear more reviews on ADA addictives and ferts. Perhaps bloodfin tetra or hasemania nana (silver tip tetra) will stand out with their red tails among the greens.

a nice school of congo tetras or blue(praecox) rainbows would look amazing. i prefer the look of diffusers in my aquascape. would love your feedback on my 1month update canyon dreams if you get the chance. looking forward to your updates. cheers!

Beautiful scape. Denison Barb or Rummy Nose tetra would be good option đŸ‘đŸŒ

Looking great. Gotta admit i didn't like it at first but it seems to be growing on me. I think if you add some grass type plants like cyperus helferi or eleocharis xingu to the back left and right corners it would look even better.

And as for the fish suggestion rummynose are ofc great but congo tetras will be quite nice as well.

Black Molly! They are great active fish and would do a great addition as a feature fish!

Great algae eaters, but not a good fit in a open iwagumi like this

Always wounder what Congo tetras would look like in an iragumi layout. Do you think bloodfin tertas would look good?

Doing a side-by-side test of Tropica's Hydrocotyle tripartita vs. ADA's Hydrocotyle tripartita "Mini" and even though it might be too early to say it seems like there is a difference just as the name suggests. The ADA version seems to have thinner stems, more delicate leaves and slower growth. Looking forward to more comparisons from you :)
Btw, I am guessing for Penguin tetras in this scape, would look great.

hi, great tank. Melanotaenia praecox would be incredible. additives / ferts in the next video, but all topics are great.
